Title: Kamakaze
Post by: cp101 on December 14, 2009, 05:21:22 PM
How about a kamakaze? it would be fun          :noid + airplane:= big boom

As much as I hate to, i gotta say this is a fairly good idea. But the only problem would be how to score it...

Dang here is an idea. The kamakazi hits the carrier and does the same damage as a shore battery but the pilot gets no points or perkies for doing it, and it counts as a crash against him. What say you all??

Absolutely nothing stopping you from flying your plane into any of the ships!

you can even release your bomb and follow it in if you like.

But to allow the actual use of kamakaze planes is senseless,as it was an act of desperation and nothing in this game requires that!

:D Admit it...there have been times when you wish you could fly your plane into a cv after getting your plane damaged by the ack...would be nice to get some points for doing it and damaging the cv wouldn't it?

Personally, though it would hold some novelty interest...wouldn't add any "fun factor".

Perhaps for FSOs (and other events of this type) it would be fun, but for MA people would hate it. In real like kamikazes attacked one after another or 2 at a time not to waist lives, here we would have kamikaze missions of 10+ people crashing into the CV at the same time
So maybe we should make kamikazes but if your not the one that destroyed the CV you get it count as a crash....just a thought  :headscratch:

Anyone ever notice how it's almost ALWAYS dweebs with under 20 posts that put this one up? It would serve absolutely NO purpose whatsoever, and Lancstukas are ridiculous enough as it is. Why would you want to reward them for crashing into the boat?

I don't even want to EVER see this stupidity in FSO.

No.  Leaving all ethical questions aside, it has significant negative gameplay effects. In reality it was a tactic of desperation with a heavy cost.  In AH it would be the easiest method of destroying a ship at a very small cost.

Also, it is "kamikaze", a compound Japanese word of "kami" which means spirit or divine and "Kaze" which means wind.  It is a reference to the storms which wrecked the Mongol invasion fleets in 1274 and 1281, preserving Japanese autonomy.

I think this idea to should be revisited. I believe it has potential.

When your plane is burning, there is blood splattered all over your windshield and instrument panel, all you can see through the blood stained glass is an endless torrent of ack and the black clouds from exploding anti aircraft shells, but you have a bomb left and wish to detonate it with your plane on impact to give some sense back into what you are doing; don't you wish you had taken off in KAMIKAZE MODE?

This mode should be made available from the hangar. We already have four modes, Fighter, Attack, Bomber and Vehicle. It makes sense to add Kamikaze.

And really, how can you argue against it? Do you honestly believe some of the pilots in WW2 did not think they were in Kamikaze mode? Just imagine a bloke climbing into an experimental Me 163, or a 109 pilot facing 20:1 odds in 1945 over Europe. Or a more formal example: a Japanese pilot with a one way ticket to a US aircraft carrier. All of these meet my definition of true Kamikaze types of fellas!

For a successful Kamikaze sortie the pilot is awarded Kamikaze perks. This allows for bigger and better bombs for his next Kamikaze sortie.

Now. Kamikaze could be used in other types of sorties. For example, when my rook base is being horded by 40+ Bishop Jokers, and I wanted to take off to provide some resistance; I would choose 'Kamikaze' mode from the hangar.

Whose with me  :huh

no...just no.... unless everytime we kamikaze we lose 300 fighter points and can even go in to the negative or never fly a 262 again and at the same time we say system: such and such just decided to noob a cv into oblivion....... such and such also loses said points...

Want the real ww2 combat experience? Up a Zeke, grab a bomb, and ram it into the boat. Then call HTC and cancel your account and never, EVER play the game again. And for good measure cancel your forum subscription, too. Because you're a kamikaze pilot, and now you're dead. No really, DO IT.

+1 good idea but no points and it counts as a crash. I think damage should depend on the type of plane,(bomber,fighter,etc...) :joystick:

 :headscratch:

So your saying, since you don't die technically (meaning IRL), then Kamikaze Mode has no place in the game?
Extrapolating on that, you could say none of the current game has place in the game. Because all of it is about not dying, technically (meaning IRL).

I really don't see the sense of that statement and I thought I would share this observation with you.

Without there being any kind of consequence for death, kamikaze becomes a more viable method of attack than actual bombing. It's much more accurate and much easier for your average hordling to accomplish.
While in reality it's a terrible weapon and one of absolute last resort.

'Yay' or 'Nay' ?

Nay obviously....
Suicide dive bombing is bad enough as it is, do you really want for every attack on an airfield to just be a horde of noobs auguring into whatever they want to kill, and actually killing it?
