Title: Worldwide Aces High Players
Post by: Halo on December 27, 2009, 12:08:12 AM
Just curious about the number of Aces High players from each nation as of, say, December 2009.  I remember in the early days there seemed to be quite a few players from Japan, Australia, and Finland in addition to the United States.

Would be interesting to see whatever list is available without getting into any company sensitive information.

Although would prefer specific or rounded numbers and percentages, even something as general as Most from x, x, x; Some from x, x, x; and Few from x, x, x would be enlightening.

I've seen a lot of Americans (of course), Brits, Aussies, Germany, Japan, Finland, France, Canada, South America, Mexico. I know there's a whole squadron of just Finland players. 1 of them posted a video of them in a sortie and you hear Finnish talk over the squad vox. Was really cool hearing another language other than English over the radio, plus I love how Finnish sounds  ;)

Wasn't it in here that someone started a Google Earth map, where people could plot in their location? If not, then that could be a plan.

I'm one of the few Danes in here. Besides my brother, Teufel, I have only seen few others from Denmark in AH. At the moment I can't think of any other active (that I know of), but I can think of a few that used to play. StSanta, Danish, Greenbird.

Like mentioned there is a large Finnish community, and it isn't a single squadron, but more like 4-5, but they all use same vox channel when flying. Funny how a country's history can change people's computer interests. Denmark has a slightly larger population than Finland.

Okay, so far I count Aces High players from 18 nations (not including military people serving overseas):

United States
Australia
France
England
Germany
Japan
Finland
Canada
Mexico
Italy
Philippines
Sweden
Argentina
Ukraine
Greece
Denmark
Poland
New Zealand

Impressive number, but not quite 1 percent of the 195 nations of the world (192 in United Nations).

No Aces Highers from Russia, China, India, Israel, Egypt, Switzerland, Netherlands, Kuwait, Spain, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Monaco, etc?

to add to your list the few is mainly British + European.  We have aroud 20 brits (that includes people from wales and scotland)  more if you include inactive.  Of our continental friends;

Swedish, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, N.Ireland,  and a couple of aussies.

We have had the odd random nationality come along and then dissappear off the face.  Brazilian / Turkish / Mexican.  Of all of them one of the most interesting was when I flew a different game, I had a Japanese player on our ventrilo server.  It amazed me that two different people from vastly different cultures and backgrounds can play the same silly computer game and work together breaching any language / communication barrier.

If your out there stelux I still love you man.   :aok

Aces High has so many statistics about so many items I thought surely some sort of member nationalities chart would have popped up by now.

All that really counts is that there are players.... and non-players.  :D

I really don't care what nationality everyone is... we all share the same main interests. On the flip side I get to hear some great accents in plane to plane chatter. This usually adds to immersion in FSO and Scenarios.

As I said before, am in Brasil, home language is Portuguese, am using this keyboard, ABNT2 layout. ABNT stands for Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas(Brazilian Association for Technical Norms). I have no problems, for example to give 6 call I press ~ and to control Zoom, ´ and [ .  , to extend chat window ' . All work with no need to configure in game. :aok

Hi Lusche!

Fortunately, we are abolishing the use of  ü in Brazilian Portuguese.

But we still have ç Ç, à, á, ã, é, ê, í, ó, ô, õ, ú.

When chatting in net games, etc we use inernetese, and omit most special characters, writing coracao, instead of coração(heart), for example.

But this is terrible for kids who, sometimes, forget they're not in the internet and write awfully...

Tschüs!  :aok :salute

Yepp... Too densely populated to my taste. Although Texas is only twice as large as Finland, there's four times as much people. Guess the Texans even have to greet their neighbours and do some small talking?

The bulk of the population is based in and around larger cities. You can drive many miles and not see another soul in many parts.

Australia is 7,617,930 Km2

Texas is 696,241 Km2

The difference is 6,921,689 Km2

In other words a huge difference.

And there are only 20,000,000 of us and we still cant stop hording each other.
