Title: repair pad
Post by: Wildcat1 on April 11, 2010, 10:56:31 PM
opposite to the rearm pad on a runway, it would repair pesky damage like feul leaks, oil leaks, pilot wounds, radiator hits, etc. this would basically have no point in the MA, as you could simply end the sortie and save a minute or two of time, but i know that many people would badly want this for fso's and scenarios. i mean, how many times have you flown fso and had to ditch because you got hit in a feul tank even tho you were able to rearm? i think this would be a good idea.  :aok

Yes a 30 second re-arm is unrealistic, but rearming aircraft to take back off and enter a fight did happen.  Fixing a fuel tank, or a bullet through the engine, was no where close to the time it would take to rearm an aircraft.

btw, 1000th post, I feel important now.

Why should a tank get repaired in secs with its tracts damage or main turret gun damage?  But a fuel leak, radiator damage, oil leak, gun damage and so on can not be repair?

That is great, but why can we not repaired a A/C on the rearmed pad?

Because a tank is just some vehicle, and an aircraft is a complex machine  :D

tank repair is cheesy. I'd rather see no repairs to anything.

Nope.  They will give you a brand new one, all you gotta do is land.

guys, i realize this. im saying that it would be very usefull for special events where you cant end your flight, you can only use the rearm pad.

and i know that you cant repair a plane in 30 secs, but you cant reload 2k of ords, 10 rockets, 2000 rounds of .50 cal and 150 rounds of 20mm plus over 1800 gallons of gas in my beloved p38 under 30 secs either

How do you know many people want this for the FSO? It kills the whole point of the FSO which is one plane one life do all the damage you can and not be damaged or shot down yourself.
By the way I was a USAF crew chief for a lot of years. There is no quick repair for a fuel tank from battle damage by the way. Much less oil leaks or radiator leaks. Quick repair for a pilot wound??  :lol
Perhaps you and the many people you speak of do not grasp the spirit of the FSO.

I changed my mind I killed 3 guys at same time on rearm pad. Was easier than vulching the plane moving down the runway :).

I understand your reasons for this post but no I shouldn't have to watch a guy say ina D pony kill 2 or 3 people, Then gets damaged by someone, out runs all of them home, lands "repairs" his plane and takes off to shoot more people down. You shouldn't have to fight an a/c you've sent home once. Again. And to let you know most of these good ideas that are brought up are downed because of the few score hores with a W of course, that live only to land kills and to have the highest score. Not all mind you but those few, the very annoying few.

So by good ideas I assume you're referring to the two threads you started which didn't gain much support, instead of simply accepting that the idea wasn't accepted in the community, you blame it on "score W*&re."  Am I a "score W*&re?"

Btw, score potato (filter, haha)
