It's still early, don't start thinking he's going to be like this all the time guy. Be positive. As much as possible you need to get him to be positive as well to help his recovery.

You'd be shocked an amazed at the advances in stroke medical care in not only the last 20 years but also in the last ten years. What was thought once to be quite devastating has been brought to a manageable event if care is sought quickly.
Please understand that my thoughts and prayers are with your father and your entire family as well. :pray

Thank you all . Just in for a minute and update . The Dr. told me last night that my father heart was just to week and that he did not think he would make it . There has been no improvement but I can understand him when no one else can when he talks. He can not take a drink so I just had to sign to have a feeding tube put in him and not to put him on life support , man this is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life and I have done a lot in my time . I even think that God is punishing me for my past life for being the bad person I was . I changed my was back in 2000 and me and dad built this house I am in now in these last 10 year's just me and him .
There is a good group of people here and I have made many friend's here and in real life here . You guy's are the best and I do thank you for your prayers .
Thank you all very very much .
-
Flench, be strong man. I know it's hard to believe right now, but God is not punishing you. In times like these there are not words to take the pain of losing a loved one away. Take this time that the Lord as given you to tell your dad how much he means to you. Be strong Flench. I am praying for your dads full recovery and your strength at this time in your life. :salute
-
Flench,
I disagree that God is punishing you. I think he is challenging you and your faith in him, your family.
You have no blame or responsibility in your Fathers illness, guilt is a human emotion that easily is used to fill the unexplained, remember that and never accept it as the reason this is happening to him.
All you can do is stay strong through this and spend as much time to comfort your Father, cherish him, reflect with him, and pray that its just not his time.
:pray
-
Flench,
I seriously doubt you are being punished. You changed and your Dad was there for the change. If it's time for him to go then make sure he knows how much you appreciated and love him. We all face that same path, let him go with your love and that you can meet again later on. Tell him you'll also try to make him proud of you for the rest of YOUR life. That will be a great comfort to him.
:pray
-
Prayers from my family to yours Flench. My littleones will include him in their prayers tonight, i always think that god listens a little closer to the little ones.
To be able to change your lift drasically, shows what a good job he does as your father, the strength and courage that he gave you speaks volumes as to what a great person he must be. Its your turn to give that strengthback to him. Punished, no...blessed to have a person like that in your life, and helping you steer your course.. yes.
Keep the faith sir , if ya want to chat just PM me, glad to talk :pray

Flench, You are doing all that anyone could have asked. Just being there and letting your Dad know how much you love him is a huge comfort to him. Nothing anyone can say will make it hurt less but you know it's a part of life. His book is closing and it's ending well because he raised a son who could and is being there for him. Yours is starting a new chapter, you have much to pass on to your kids. Let him know how much he means to you but also let him know it's ok for him to go.
May God ease your pain and welcome your Dad.
-
Im so sorry Flench, i went thru this with my father. Nothing i can say will help ease you pain, but of all the people you could have had as a dad, think how lucky you are that you got yours. This one thought helped when i lost my dad.
I hope the pain you feel will lesten over time. It never goes away, but the hurt does start to fade after time
You and your dad are in my familys prayers

Flench, No words can describe what you must be going through, I assure you that you will get through this dark time in your life, hang in there keep being there for you Dad for as long as he is here, dont forget to take care of yourself as well, take a moment for yourself, gather your thoughts and strength when you can.
Your Father must be very proud of you and what your doing for him in his time of need, I know I am.
God Bless your Father, and God Bless you.
Your Family is in our prayers. :pray

Hang tough Flench. Praying for you and your father.

My heart goes out to you Flench.
I lost My Father 16 Oct 2009. I held his hand as he passed, as did my brother and two sisters.
If it comes to this, all I can tell you is how it was with us and Dad. I told him it was okay to go and just held his hand. I think he passed in peace with himself and his family.
You know, one of the things I learned from this is that our Fathers never stop teaching us how to live, and when our time does come they have shown us how to move on with dignity.
I really hope your Dad pulls through, and my and my family's thoughts are with you and your family.

Don't talk like that man, like good old Rabelais said, "Men are not tied down by their past, and may choose whatever path they wish." And if it were you who was a bad person, why would he give your dad a stroke? What did he ever do wrong? (Don't take this as a joke, but) : Hopefully no divine interevention will be needed and may he live to be an :old: with a full happy life before his time on planet Earth is finished.
Thoughts and condolences to the family though sir, I'll see if I can't pop off a coke and mentos rocket in his name if he does die (come on old man, don't leave this world until it you are the same way you were when you came in, kicking, screaming and covered in somebody else's blood, and not a moment sooner!)
:salute Hope the time you spent with your dad was, and always will be a fond one

Flench, I know how you feel; my mother died last year after an eight-month grueling battle with cancer that robbed her of her mind before taking her life. She was the kindest, most caring person I've known. The pain won't go away, ever, but it will become dull with time. When you feel like crying, do so. It helps. I had actually forgotten how it was like to cry. You have my sympathies, and my prayers (I'm really not religious, but I'll make an exception).
-
Flench, my thought are with you sir, let me know if theres anything i can do, ive been there <S>

If Flench plays (not sure, he may, he may not) we could line up some P47's on the runway and give him a three volley salute. I saw it being done one time when I was training to join Duxford.

When my mother died I told myself, God wanted her more ! It helps to think like that. :pray
:uhoh So you viewed you own mother as something you'd give away to someone just because they wanted her more? He could have everything he wanted, but no, he had to take a poor mortal man's mother. Sickening.
Again, if the other side really is there, I hope he finds himself with the people he loves.

Come here /big hug Absolutely, I'll see if my buddies at Duxford can arrange for us to all get in goons one night and drop a huge number of troops. Maybe even organize one last assault using only Shermans, C-47's and P-47's. Now now let him rest in the peace that war has deprived him of for so long.

I can tell you that it will get easier as time passes. You will always remember and miss your Dad, but it will get easier to carry on. I am just now finding the "new normal" since my Dad's passing, so I speak from the heart.
It will get easier.
I am glad you were able to be there...Dads are pretty special people, it seems they never really do stop teaching us about ourselves.
My condolences, and a heartfelt <<S>> to your Dad.
