Sweet Missions getting posted as we speak I'll be checking the board, email, and be in game around 7:00 pm CDT to start assigning targets
and brief the mission.

Sounds like I'm going to get owned. :( Suppose Your bombers will be rook swoops?
-
With of course! I dont like to be shot at with multiple sets of 10 .50 cals.
While one one hand a formation can be very effective at defending just by being able (in theory) to cover each other and to observe every direction, I practically found that their players are often quite overloaded in huge battles, by the demand of staying in formation, frantic distracting radio calls ("watch it!") and tracking the sheer number of enemy & friendly cons around.
Often only a small part of all bombers capable of firing at me will actually do this while I dive through their formation.
And there are a few things more fun than seeing an enemy buff formation breaking apart and transforming itself into just a gaggle of stragglers, while their escorts are straggling to get back to alt after greedily diving after a single interceptor
:devil

Yah we always fly rooks...lets see last week we attacked the bish....so....hmmm...well we shall see

You either attack the ones with the closer strat or the ones with the low numbers.
-
They are both relatively close today so I dunno its gonna be a crap shoot and as of now the numbers are pretty even
-
Was a blast. We had Crzygunz(Buck) new squad fly with us. I want a challenge, Rooks have been attacking the st rat to long time for the Knights or Bishops to attack us. Still we'll attack them anyway. :)
-
Now I'm not gonna mention anynames, actually it was 1 person. The whole people in the Epic Mission know who he is as well. It really disappoints me when someone rats us out. He was rook to get info then he switched sides. Plus we all know it's coming why ruin it. Please do not rat us out or even any mission for that matter. Mission of course with dozens of people was a success just why do it. Next time don't until the next 777th Epic Mission. :salute

Uhh, first off the mission was posted on a Public BBS. 2nd of all, it is not hard to see a 3-4 sectors with full darbar's on a clipboard map near Strat. So I doubt someone actually "ratted you out".
-
:lol he's not the sharpest tool in the shed is he? :lol
-
On the plus side, you can scroll back up and watch Spikes avatar for a while. :lol

It's a 35k horde. Boring....

OMFG, now thats funny.

Thank you for the mission Swoops, managed to just about stay in formation again. Hit center ammo target and got a nice page of factories destroyed but only a small damage total of 5k damage or so. 1 enemy bandit shot down and landed all 3 bombers. Only known damage at this time was Aux fuel tank. Great evening thank you.

I was intercepting that "horde" and it was one of the most exciting and fun things for me in a long time. It's a whole different world fighting enemy escorts above 30k. It's a very nice change of pace!
:salute to the rooks and I hope to see you back at 30k over my strats very soon!

First of all I want to say a HUGE salute to Swoops for putting these missions on every week. I look forward to these missions. It is a place where I get to fly with my squaddies in a part of a larger country mission. The historical significance alone is amazing. To see the sky full of bombers on a set destination in tight formation with great leadership gives me (albeit only a sliver) the feeling of what it may have actually been like in the time period we mimic. I always fly escort and usually have a wingman that I can count on to always be on my six. Sometimes we beat the heck out of the target, sometimes we get chewed up. Again that is sometimes how it happened in the history books.
What Stealth is talking about is when an unnamed person (I use the word person loosely) got butt-hurt for some reason or another and decided to take malicious intentions and come to rook country and even tuned to mission vox. Then before the mission ran home and broadcasted his findings on 200. The worst part is that this "person" didn't even have the cahones to come up and meet the mission head on.
I know the mission was posted on a bbs forum. But the target and takeof base was not! I also know that historically spies existed but have a little class! Its only a game! If you get your little feelings hurt don't ruin the fun for everyone else. I know that there are folks on bish and knights that enjoy the chance to come after our missions and I am pumped to see that. The EPIC Missions would never be EPIC without the enemy attacks. Bring them on. If we succeed great if we get chewed up enroute or while egressing - great! Either way we're all having fun. All that I'm asking is don't let one loser screw up a good evenings entertainment for a group of folks. If you don't want to participate - don't - it's a big map!!!

Usually an escort above the bombers in a P-47M come find me :salute

I wouldn't worry about it. In such a kind of missions, "spies" can't do much harm at all, if any.
When it's a quick basegrab, information like plane composition, target & start base can be very critical, especially if its a NOE mission.
In such a 90 minute strat bombing mission not.
A massive big darbar gives the takeoff base away early enough. Observe the darbar moving for a sector, and you know pretty much what it's all about as well as what the missions most likely target area will be, with ample time for any potential defenders to make their choice and get into position.
Last night, I was waiting for this mission (at 3 am local time, *yawn*). I went afk for 20 minutes, and when i came back I noticed that full sector darbar over your own port, a few sectors away from any battle. To make sure, I waited until I could roughly determine the missions current heading by observing the darbar in this and the adjacent sectors.
So I knew you guys are all there, heading SE (most probably towards our factories), moving very slowly (= buffs climbing). A spy could hardly have had provided me more valuable information at that point. You don't need to ne a rocket scientist to figure out the rest. ;)
And so I met the mission halfway towards it's target (at 35k) and started to shadow you for about 3 sectors, constantly giving updates on position, alt, heading, force composition.
I remember once being "called out" for using spies or a secondary account when I amazingly "found" a mission of 10+ formations of bombers at 25k. They claimed I never could have told from darbar where they are, or what direction they were heading to  :lol
-
Lol spies...oh how I love ignorant people!

(http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk121/TheAmish/ispy.jpg) big mission you say?!

Sorry Karaya I gotta disagree with ya on this one, The behavior mentioned at the start of the mission was completely and totally uncalled for, I know in the overall scheme of things its just a game. However if a guy or gal for that matter acts like that when playing a game It kinda makes you wonder what kind of turd they really are in real life? :frown: :noid :noid

Turd full of peanuts is my guess :D

Well that's the point they rated us out when they knew it would come. Plus it was 10minutes before the buffs even got off the ground.

I don't think the Germans expected the B17s/B24s to come from Turkey

In the future maybe the threads started by Swoops should cease? Regardless of what transpired, blatantly posting an intended mission against Bish/Knights at a given a time, is well.....pointless.

The mission had a couple times 150 B17s and 80 fighter escort with 5 full darbars of enemy fighters. Wow very pointless.

You've proven my point. If you need 50 formations to pad Bomber scores......you're doing it wrong.
-
Well my only point is. Don't rat out a mission no matter what it's just wrong. You say it's a game well why do it when it's just a game. That's my only case on the matter. When a squad wasted 2 hours out of 1 flight just to have it ruined isn't nice at all. The point of the mission is to have fun and do those awesome bomber and fighter missions.

Next time try sending 50 sets out to throw up a big dar and take out FHs while the 100 sets of buffs take the long way noe to target.
You got to be sneaky. And you have to know by now that if you announce a mission for all to see, someone is going to snitch it out!
I really don't understand how you can post time, date, target and not expect to be greeted by the enemy before you get to your target!
Another thing I'm wondering , is why if you knew you were ratted out, go through with the intended target. You guys have to have a backup target for just such a case.
It seems to me that the MOM planners spend all their time making fancy pictures to post instead of coming up with a good plan that will actually work.

Yes,but why rat us out anyway.
-
I agree snitching you guys out is not cool. But it's a fact that it happens every time. If you want to be successful you have to outsmart the chitheads. Simple as that.
Look, try this next time. Announce your big mission. But have the real mission that no one knows about. Send a million buffs to the factory and 6 sets of lancs to HQ. 3 high and 3 low from different directions and bases.
Folks will rat you out for the same reason a dog licks his nuts......because they can.
-
The snitching isn't that big of a deal P0LRBEAR just wasn't aware of our Titanic Tuesday tradition and he got his feelings hurt when everyone decided to join my mission instead of his. I wait until 2 min until launch to set the takeoff base anyways. If you have the time to scramble an intercept and bounce us upon launching then I salute you. The experience is just a chance to try something else fun in the MA where everyone can choose to or choose not to participate. I fully expect and look forward to encountering enemy opposition every single week and endeavor to have as much fun as possible while attempting to herd together 30 - 40 buff formations and keeping them on target. The people who join obviously share the same interest and whether or not the mission is viewed as effective or ineffective it serves its purpose if your the one having fun.
For the naysayers I guess you'll be glad to hear I won't be running the missions on Tuesdays next month anyways. I unfortunately have to fly on Tuesdays next month as I had to bid a better line to get certain days off. Rest assured I will return to Titanic Tuesday in June. Hopefully in my stead Asleep1 will be running the missions and you will all still get to partake in the joy of the Titanic Tuesday EPIC mission.
