Title: 4th Chess Piece Country

Simple request.  Changes to the maps can be done.  Eliminates the horde mentality.  No country will be able to win the war leaving map resets on a timed manner say once a week.

Horde mentality is not tied to winning the war. And surely 4 on 1 country will be muuuuch better than 3 on 1 ;)

I'll probably be struck by lighting before HTC removes the idea of winning the war.  Forget this game of ours, and the discussions we have about it... It's a business stance.  After all, they run a business, we play a video game.    The business is rather important for us......  Without their business, we ain't got the game.

I'm pretty sure that much of the game would have to be reworked for this to happen.  Just think of all the maps that would need to be remade.

More importantly, what would you call it?  Pawns?  That'd make for even worse jokes than the Nits...

I would prefer  2 countries getting jiggy I mean 3 is a crowd ya know.

Been there done that, WB had 4 countrys, it was no better and often times worse.

The Horde does get a bit old.... instead of trying for an air to air simulation a bunch of arcade gamers converge on a field in droves like piranha and hack and slay anything that moves.  It does ruin the sim experience to the extreme.

Me thinks having a faster and more dynamic ENY system in play would help solve the issue.  The ENY should start with 3, with aircraft such as the 262, 163, Tempest, Spit16, George, La7, F4U-4/1C, and P51D that low.  Then start adding in the F4U-1A/1D, Typhoon, Spit8/14, etc at 5, etc.  Let ENY be more of a factor.  If the attackers are limited to P40's, F4F's, 109E-4's, Spit1's for fighters and Ju88's, Boston's, and B25C's, one might be surprised how quickly the arcade gamers back off and go back to playing WoW. 

Also, heavy bombers should not be able to take off from front line fields.  That would save some of the massed Lanc-stuka raids that level towns and fields in seconds and allow the piranha to have an easy go.

As far as I'm aware, terrains would not have to be re-made. A simple base tweak to allocate bases to a fourth country is all that's required. With that said, -2.

I meant to say that some maps have mountain ranges which run down the middle of the countries, so adding a fourth would change things for those maps.

The lines between the original set of bases each map has.  The point Im trying to make is that heavy bombers should have to start back a few sectors on most maps.  For them to be able to up and stuka gv's next to the airfield, CV's just off shore, etc is a bit off.

PAWNS.

Are moved (when not in flight) from side to side by the server to mantain game play balance.
Enjoy a multiplier of 2 x Perk points when perks earned/lost are positive.
Enjoy a Multiplier of 0.5 x perk points when perks earned/lost are negative.
Are not limited in ride choice by ENY (moot because the server would have moved them to a low side  without ENY limit anyway)
Show no side icon but do show the relevent colour.
Must remain PAWNS for at least 24 hours after  becoming a PAWN.

PAWNS = Mercenaries.

If you want to reduce the Horde effect then the only solution that has been tried and worked is the Zone/Airfield limit. (AW 1998)

PAWNS would not be limited by the Zone/Airfield Limit.  :neener:

Hitech has already posted that they have tried 2, 3, 4, and 5 countries, and 3 works best so that is where it will stay.

We can call the Claim Jumpers the defect Rook confederacy... Not really a country yet as they cannot do anything but horde take :lol

Pfff, crabs jumpers, i mean, claim jumpers are like all the other mega squads, they are big then die down.  Nothing last for ever.

Yup and thats what you had to do......it was no horde.  Hordes are built from lazy camp followers.......it seems a simple thing to split a mission but the amount of time it ends in tears due to lack of team work and timing is the vast majority

True if two bases are in equal and close attack range of a single defending base then its odds on for a capture.

The reverse is true too............. classic triangulation 2 v 1 wins whether your attacking or defending

but our maps are not set out in nice equalatural triangles so its not that easy.

I remember the 4 countries from Warbirds - Red, Green, Gold, and Purple.   It was kindof fun to have more countries (supposedly they all had unique personalities), but what happens is the two neighboring countries gang up on the smallest country.  I think HTC went with 3 countries to try to eliminate the imbalance problems with 4.

For a game called Aces High though, I've always thought 4 countries - Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs would be more appropriate than Chess pieces...

There's a generational thing at work as well.  Back in late '90's there was a air sim game that began in mid-flight and each rounded lasted about 2 mins or so.  The point was to shoot the other guy down.  It did not hold my interest for 15 mins.

Games that do not settle the matter with some winning and some losing are pointless.  However, amongst the young, that is not the case.
