well if that's so in the Game alright i put my head down and apologize but the people that taught me to bomb (and they are pretty dang good) said "your eggs need to fall for 1000 ft so they can arm and then you'll get a boom" so I've always gone by that

yes.. 1000 feet travel.. not 1000 feet vertical.. its called ballistic arc... i.e if youre level doing 400mph, youre doing 586 feet per second.. in under 2 seconds, your bombs will be armed after dropped... i forget how to figure for gravity, but I think they will only fall about 300 feet in 2 seconds

ahh f me.. my math stinks..

You can drop from 200 feet, and yes if your speed is high enough the bombs will arm and explode.

You just need to pull up slightly after the drop to prevent damage to your tail.

Ar234 you can actually drop from lower than 100 feet and have the bombs arm every time. If your at full speed.

Ok that makes sense the diagonal travel...as I said in the above chat I bow my head...thank you for the info good to know I think my buds know about it but they didn't explain it to me (yeah leave the noob out) guess that's one of the ups of forums :)  :airplane: :joystick:

I thought bombs needed to travel 800 feet to arm... that's 800 feet total, vert and horizontal.

I believe it's 800ft, the 1000ft is probably just a safety buffer, like how a lot of people tell everyone else to stay under 200ft on a NOE mission even though radar doesn't work till 500ft.

Still, the ability to set a delay would provide some entertaining kills...  :devil  Used to do it in the other "game"...set a 10 second delay, drop a bomb into a VH or on the runway from low alt...lots of fun if someone spawns just before that bomb goes off...  :devil

Don't give out the secret! That's how I take VH's out! :)

version 1.08
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,14771.0.html

Added fuzes to all bombs.  A bomb will not arm unless it’s traveled 1000 feet.  This translates to about a 100 foot drop at 250 miles per hour.  The faster you travel, the less altitude is required and vice versa.

Well I like to fly the B-25 and as you all know its not very fast. As your advise might work on another aircraft (as far as speed) and I could climb up to a thousand feet before dropping, this is not how the B-25's were used. So maybe a parachute bomb as was used very often in the Pacific.

You must not be flying the same B-25s I have...start at ~500 feet full throttle, drop 2 eggs and nose up...

If you want more realistic, use the Mossie instead.

Guncrasher what I can do is film it and post the film.

BTW rolex's last bombing clinic is out there if you search for it.

there were a lot of time delay fuses used in WWII and also para-frags. the time delay fusing would not be very useful unless used on towns by a mass of medium bombers. I have seen many films of "skip" bombing on both land and sea which is scary watching a bomb bounce up behind your b-25 to the same alt before it drops and explodes on the second ground hit

I always thought it was 100 feet, I've bombed a hanger from 150 feet and it went boom ... barely escaped with my rudder ...
