Just wondering what some of your thoughts are with the new patch, regarding the GV vs GV battle. Does the Tiger take a lot more to kill than before? Is the Sherman now properly modeled as a Ronson? Just wanted to ask, as I have not been able to log on and find out for myself.
Thanks for any input.

Not sure about GV to GV fights, but I think I've found a new soft spot in the M4's armour: the armour on the back and side of the back-right corner seems very vulnerable to the B-25's 75mm

I tried the tiger last night...
I fired on Thrash99 at a range of about 100yds, hitting him (face to face) very slightly above the seam separating the hull from the turret. No effect (AP). He then shot me. I died.
Those are about the only "facts" that I can relate. I have no idea what would be considered "proper", since I seldom GV fight.
What was he in? Some sort of tank. A greenish-black one, with a big gun barrel pointing towards me. There wasn't one of those itty-bitty guns sticking out of the top of his tank, I remember that much, cause I could see that part of his tank sticking up over the him before ho drove out into the open.

Only the 75mm version of the Sherman as it's an early Sherman with the dry stowage as opposed to the wet stowage found in the 76mm Sherman.

I have noticed when I GV now that the Tiger has kinda claimed its dominance back since most people tend to take the non perked 76mm sherman out. I had 8 kils in the tiger before I was bombtared (LOL). I noticed that on the 76mm sherman a tiger will take it out in one shot no matter where I hit it at a rate of about 90%. I dont worry about the 76mm gun as much and really dont worry about it if I am ranges of 1200m or more as it take either a well placed shot or multiple shots to kill the tiger. I do notice though if someone up a firefly because of the color difference in the two tanks and the barrel length. Though the tiger can be killed it is easier now to kill the firefly. I hit one the other night on dead on the turret mantel and POW, KABOOM he died. Will have to see though more about the 76mm and 75mm sherman as I am still taking those two out and seeing what they can do and take in return.

Finally got about an hr. of time lastnight to do some GVing... had a reported M4 76 climbing a hill at a V base. I upped a tiger, positioned myself on the MR so I elevated the front of the tank to about a 25degree angle and allowed my gun to elevate to shoot the M4. The distance was at 1600 and I hit that M4 10-12 times, a friendly dropped bombs on him only to track him. Now, my question is...... at 1600 the Tiger should have knocked out the M4 within 2-3 shots? Out of the 10-12 hits, I did have roughly 4-5 ricochets, but the remainder were solid turret hits and 2 good side hits.
P.S......yes whiplash it was me in the tiger......LOL

Sounds to me like you stumbled upon a firefly using the skin with the black camo splotches on it.
T-34 would be either red-brown, or mostly green.
As to the tiger:
It seems much more the tank it used to be. Not quite so good as before the firefly and T-34/85, but so long as you stay out past 1500yds and are a good shot, you'll be pretty hard to stop short of bomb****s.

But it definitely was a T-34/85. ;)

Just dabbled a bit offline in a Firefly. At 2.3k, I am right now killing the Tiger with an average of 4 shouts. Usually 2nd kills turret, the 4th kills tank. I'm reliably penetrating the frontal hull armor at that range.

If you aren't one-shotting them . . . it seems like Hitech has in their damage modeling a weakening effect of multiple hits? So lets say the armor withstands a hit that should theoretcially penetrate 90mms of armor, is the armor degraded in some fashion that second or third hits do more damage?
Another thing I noticed is that most penetration data is for striking an angled surface (30 degrees in a lot of the tables I use). The Tiger's armor isn't angled, so in theory a gun rated to 99mm penetration at 2000 yards against a 30 degree surface could penetrate the 100mm front armor at 0 degrees (or is it 90? Memory fails).
Just offering possible reasons why your result might, in fact, hold water. But if it is an error, I'm sure it will be fixed.
-
I'm not saying it's an error per se - after all, I also find varying numbers about armor penetration values.
It was (at this point) merely a comment at "as long as you stay out past 1500yds").
And I do not think a armor plate should be "weakened" by one or two hits. There are some nice photos around of Tigers and Jagdpanther with a couple of hits that didn't just left a few scratches but deep dents in close proximity, and yet no penetration happened.
Oh, and just killed turret quickly at 2.5k, but this time killing the tank after this took me a lot more shots ;)
But of course I didn't expect the Tiger suddenly being safe from one of the most powerful tank guns of WWII...

Gotcha -- Perhaps I should have read what you quoted and not just your comment. :uhoh

Armor does not take damage. It is either penetrated or not.

I fired 71 shots from an m4 into the offline tigers driver window and never did kill it. yes, i used the 76 mm from about 1000 yards

Yes, but you must remember that the tiger will be returning fire, and his 88 will kill you at that range withough much trouble.
ROF is the same, so it comes down to who gets the range first, and who is unlucky enough to get a ricochet.

What is the speech command then? "Tiger, DIE!" four times? :)

I don't think they have the driver's windo modeled (i.e. you can't shoot through it and get a driver kill), its just eyecandy.
For the M4A3(76), front shots must be made from about 600yds MAX. Side shots at around 1200yds, and rear shots at around 1500yds.
M4A3(75): NO front shot is possible, NONE. EVERY single shot is a ricochet. Side shots are possible from 400yds or so, and you can turret him in two. Rear shots should be made from no more than D800, and this should be seen as only a way to disable his engine and turret him.
The only one shot kill point I could find was by firing at the top of his turret or hull from some high ground, or by driving right upto him, and pointing your barrel at the engine decking to either side of the turret.

OF course the Tiger does understand only commands spoken in German :neener:

Noted, thank you! :aok

As to the armor thing:
Shouldn't it be that if your gun couldn't penertate an enemy tanks armor at xxxx yds, then you only get a ricochet? Right now it seems like you can get penetrations at any range, but it just takes more hits to kill the further out you are.
