So I am interested to hear some other players tactics.
More and more as I progress through this game I begin to see some uses of tactics in a fight. As example a tactic I use in a rope is to start a slow turn to the left and make it seem like I am going to wing over and then wait until I see the plane nose up then continue my climb until they are just about to stall then hammerhead over and hit them as they stall.
Thats one that I use on a consistent basis is there any that you guys use often and are willing to share? I would love to hear others.
-
My tactic is guessing at what altitude the highest enemy in a sector may be. And then I climb 5k higher than that :neener:
-
I let people think I am not paying attention until they're like 600 out. Then I hit a bad donut slight aileron/elevator barrel roll trying to burn as little E as possible. Super hard for them to get a guns solution unless they hit some serious brakes.
Almost everyone except the best pilots overshoot. I don't always have a gun solution myself but I almost always can gain advantage.
I think I use this specific move the most.

My threat bubble is 1000 Anything anywhere within a sphere of 1000 is lethal and I begin countering.
-
I try to stay above 5k w/ above 250 knts in muh D9.
-
I like to always stay above the fight. That way I decide when to initiate the fight, and if they first pass doesn't look like it's gonna go well for me, I can just climb back up.
-
I try to always keep my speed up in furballs to where I can egress when need be. If someone dives on me, I'll usually bait them away, and try for an overshoot. If not, I can always extend and restart.
-
I'll just wait till you cross into my propwash, and say" hold on to your butts." :neener:
-
fly close to them and shoot them in the head
-
Real men fly on the Deck ;)
-
I go head long into a furball..(lately totally out numbered)...close my eyes and turn the stick this way and that, firing 1/2 second bursts here and there.....win some lose lots :lol :lol :lol.....
Seriously though I am just now becoming aware of maneuvers(names) I am doing... One I do quite often and is what probably gets me killed the most by those who know and fight me is a barrel roll defense trying to initiate a rolling scissors ....I like the rolling scissors...
-
I enjoy something close to a BnZ. I will fly about 3k above the enemy at least, then dive down. If they turn, I miss them, pull up and turn, I'm on their six. If they don't see me and don't turn, then there is no need for the waste of pulling G's :t
I also like getting into a zeke and running circles around everyone :D
I find both to be pretty effective.
-
I catch other people's bullets with my aircraft and when my shoes are blown off my body, I try to catch them and throw them at the guy who just blew my plane apart as he's passing by giving me the bird. I rock.

I try to put bullets into the other guy before he gets them into me, from any angle or alt. I can... Thus far, results are mixed.. :bolt:
-
I like to come in to the furball at or above the fight, and fight till I die or I'm out of ammo or fuel. I don't usually make it back, but its fun.
It really depends, because if its all spits, f4us, etc.. I will scrap and get my hands dirty, if there are any Brewsters I will bnz until the Brewsters are gone. The reason, they mess up all my turn fights with other planes, ie if there are Brewsters around, the minute you get in a fight with any other ride, you will have a conga-line of them on your 6 that will chase you till your death, often I can't even dive away from them.
-
my favoret tactic is to paint my fighter to look like a bomber :t, then when the unsuspecting con gets close....... :x
-
I'm a buff driver.... I just shoot them

funny.....
seems i rarely meet you under 12/15k :headscratch:

I try and get some time in every aircraft that has forward firing guns (not bombers). I try to fly an aircraft to it's strengths and in a manner for which it was meant historically. I bnz, I furball, I bomb, dive bomb, capture fields and ferry supplies. You'd think after all this time in AH I would be real good, but the reality is I generally suck, mosty because I like to have fun. I do not slam on the brakes every time someone gets on my six (seems to be an ever more popular tactic). Every so often I concentrate on gunnery (Hitech... what the HELL did you do to the gunnery since my latest extended absence?). I never check my score... (I did that once or twice and finished in the top 3 or 4... how freekin boreing!).
Mostly... I have fun. Lately when the MA gets boreing (lotta that going on), I do DA for awhile... seems to sharpen the edge a little every time.

i take a 110 up and HO anything that comes in my path.

:D me and me zeke.
When it comes to GVing, study the terrain layout before attacking. Use actual vehicle warfare tactics too. V maneuvers to outflank the enemy and circle them, support style units allow others to slip in closer, force breaches in the enemy lines with large charges from treeline to treeline. After GVing alot i tend to start taking command of GV groups, rallying them and coordinating them to take bases now. Just spawning in and not working as a team will ALWAYS get you killed.
A coordinated Defensive positioning of multiple GVs is also great. Create chokeholds on the enemy, force the enemy to halt and regroup, etc.
There are so many GV tactics usable in the game when one studies and works with others that you will find new life to GVing once used.

I love flying the Japanese tinderbox myself...just can't shoot well out of it. If someone with bad breath (Waystin2) breathes on it, it catches on fire.

The one general tactic I use is, never slow down if there are multiple bandits within icon distance of you. I set a hard limit of no slower than 250mph in a furball. Even getting down to 250 is pushing it, IMO.
Then I proceed to ignore that limit, get slow, and get shot. It is the natural order of things.
Wiley.

Or a Hurri IIc...dont forget about that little dancer with huge guns....

I use my squaddies as bait, especially ardy and Krupnski :devil

Froger i seem to remember being picked by you last month what is funny is i was out doing you and your friend otd while you had 4k alt adv  :bolt:
-
My two favorite tactics both involve vert fighting:
1. Rope a dope (usually 47 M, 109, occasional 51-B)
2. Nose-up 109-G6 stall fighting (from E disadvantage -- these get fun)
-
I fly hordes of enemy to Waystin2's whirbelwind....dont follow me if Im running :noid
-
I use what I have, that betters my position. Anywhere from reverals to ropes and even picking and 1v1 tactics, that's about the most consitant thing I can say about my tactics.

i love getting into that ONE fight that gets the adrenaline PUMPING. because you say to yourself...i NEED to win this fight. You struggle and push it to the limit till your real life muscles are tired from 20 minutes to constant fighting and you succeed! :aok
-
I'm gonna echo Bosco here. Tactics are situational. I never know what to use until I'm in the situation... And half the time it's not what I should've used. :uhoh
-
tactics what tactics :)

Any advantage i can get over you will only help my case :aok
seems that almost every time we go H2H one of us gets picked.
hard for me to learn something from your acm when I'M spending the entire fight dodging your fellow countrymen or watching mine clear my 12 o'clock :salute

Anytime you feel up for it i will be spending most of my time in the DA by all means send me a pm and maybe we find out the outcome with just a 1v1 :salute
-
I send CorkyJr in first, by the time I get there all the bad guys are out of ammo.

Thats what happens when you play in the overpopulated LW arena. Just too many peeps zooming around in uber rides packed with uber cannon. Its frustrating and ultimately what prompted me to spend most of the last few years in MW. Much better satisfaction for me personaly.

try to get in the other guy's head. If they want to chase you...let them chase you for a moment then just when I think they are commited to gaining maximum speed, change the plan. If they think you are going to BnZ them, cut power and glide onto their six, if they think you will continue to turn fight, bring in you flaps as you see them slow down and maximise your speed to string them up. Always do something unexpected when being defensive. Always switch up your methods of attack between passes. If I can manage to work out what the enemy is thinking everything else will flow in my favour.

+1 for spelling 'flavour' the cool British way.

Some nights it's actually not far from the truth...
I've made the joke enough times that I went back and checked my K/D ratio compared to the number of sorties that Corky flew for the tour over a something like 4 tours and the there was a direct correlation, the more sorties he flew the better my K/D was.
Gave me a good laugh. :)

I watched him do it last night! He was always wheels-up first and by the time I got there everything but TonyJoey was dead. <S> Corkyjr....good stuff sir.
