Title: Its official, I Quit!
Post by: Panzerace on June 12, 2010, 12:54:03 AM
Yup, thats right I quit.  I quit not hoing. I do not fly much, I am a GV guy but when I do fly I would not "Ho" anyone unless they started shooting first. Well, it seems as if we live in a Ho infested virtual world.  From here on in I am going to be the ho king. OK, thats all just wanted to get it off my chest. Thanks for your support.  :salute

I share the sentiment, but refuse to degrade myself, except in EXTREME cases. Should try your best to avoid them, but sometimes it's necassary to pass head on to keep the stalemate.

sometimes just for the hell of it I'll decide to accept every HO offered for a day. and I mean every opportunity, and If I see someone working for a head to head position I'll let them. just because its interesting to change your own ROE sometimes, and the HOers might learn something.

result? a few more oil hits than usual, and a bunch of dead noobs. thing is if you usually spend all your time trying to work angles for a shot, you're also going to be able to work angles for that front quarter shot better than the faceshooter can. gunnerys probably going to be better too.

did this a couple of weeks ago, there was one guy who initiated the joust 3 times in a row, and was dispatched quickly to the tower each time. the next time I started a kind of neutral merge just to see what he was going to do and ... he dived under me and swang round to try to find my 6. class dismissed :aok

So, you are quiting because of some skill-less player HO you?  It sucks when some people have no ACM skills and aware there are dweebs or new players do not know them.  There are times that i do come across somebody that has been around long enough that should know better but what can you do.
I guess the can do two things, suck it up and learn to avoid the HO shot.

Like many here, I take great pleasure in denying the HO.  We all know that with good SA, and the knowledge of what to do and when to do it you can avoid them everytime.  The consequenses for the HO'r is a poor position after the miss the normally leads to his rapid demise.  I dont think of HO'rs as lame, rather lacking in enough skill to choose a different attack.  Most of us surely were there when we began and just getting an enemy in your sights from any angle was a victory and you took the shot.

Not true.

There are times when you're on the deck without enough E to avoid the second, third or fourth guy coming HO although if you can avoid those "every time" I'm open for a lesson and I don't mean a lesson in not fighting multiple cons.

Not true.

There are times when you're on the deck without enough E to avoid the second, third or fourth guy coming HO although if you can avoid those "every time" I'm open for a lesson and I don't mean a lesson in not fighting multiple cons.

If you have very good SA it should give you time to use your knowledge of what to do and when to do it.  Let's just go with your one example.  You were on the deck.  Why?  If there were that many cons around, and it sounds like you were outnumbered in this example, was there a specific moment where a decision to egress and reset would have reduced the number of bandits able to engage you?  If you had just taken off maybe, why?  Good SA should have given you information that allowed you to make a decision not to put yourself in that position.  We all love the fight, we love to stay with it till some one dies.  If you truly abhorr the HO and will not allow yourself to be engaged thusly, then you have to decide not to continue what you were doing which is about to allow the other guy to position himself for a HO.

Maybe I should clarify my original statement.  An HO that involves me is because I made poor decisions or chose not to take action in time to avoid it.

An HO as I define it is a zero angle deflection shot :).  It takes very little "re-alignment" to make that zero something higher.

Read the entire OP. He's not quiting the game, he's just going to start making head on passes guns hot.

Zoney, let's do an experiment.  I suggest that it's not only in low E situations, but even in relatively high E multi-con engagements that you can sometimes not avoid a HO.

So here's the experiment:  I need three volunteers.  You will fight me and the three volunteers one on four in the DA.  The four of us will not be allowed to take any shot other than a HO or a high defletion angle which results from your attempt to avoid the HO.  You will not be allowed to take any HO shots.

I will film.  We will do this three times until you have shot us all down or we have shot you down using a HO shot.  I will post the films in this thread and you may comment on how you were able to avoid every HO attempt.

My bet is that in each of the three engagements, you will be HO'd before you take down all four fighters.

I'm a decent shot I'll be 1 of the opponent's  :D

To make it fair he wouldn't engage that many fighters unless he had the altitude advantage.  I recommend giving him a 5k alt advantage before the fight begins I bet the result will be the same unless he E fights very well.
