been working great for me?  Well....sometimes vox is a little hard to hear but Im thinking that is more user defined than AH defined...

No problems here, actually had to turn a lot of the sounds down. Vox is still a bit low for many players, could be their settings.

For you maybe but on my end it's far better than what we had previously.  To each his own...

LOL, an update... :lol I love seeing the sheep flock together when a update causes problems. And start blaming our computers. As usual it will take multiple updates and then amazingly problems are fixed without updating systems. So, waiting for the updates....I LOVE being the BETA tests for a company, plus paying for it...Whoo Hoo..

REMEMBER SHEEP...Im from Montana and The sheep here ARE Skeered...for good reason...LOL

So, we patiently await....

If the majority of players were experiencing what you're going through then it would lend credence to your claim there is something wrong with the game.  However since the majority of the players are not reporting the same issues as you are, it tends to point that the problem most likely lies on your end as opposed to something wrong with the game.

The sounds are pretty much the same as before Miles, except for the way aircraft sound when they go by you from time to time.

I'm going to upgrade my sounds as soon as the sound makers make really beefy and nice sounding P38 sounds (before they work on anything else, hint hint) to replace my old sounds.

don't know what the problem is but vox transmissions get cut off a lot it seems since miles showed up.

Nice try, but try understanding people now days, when it comes to complaining about poor service or problems. In General, people will tolerate and be complacent with some issues like what we are dealing with. If there was a comparable product, exodus would happen in droves with issues like this. Just because theres nothing said does not mean a problem does not exist. I have seen hundreds of thousands of dollars lost in business and businesses flurish on that lack of communication and customer feedback alone. Nice try though but generalities dont cut it. Its a legitimate problem period and it needs fixing.

I had major sound issues after the initial update and now my sounds are sounding better then prior to the update.

i personally like the old sound set up. don't care for the miles at all. i don't think there is a major change in sounds. think it all sounds the same. i am glad we have sliders again. however i am grateful for what we have and i will take what ever it is that HTC seems fit for his company.

You wouldn't believe what folks will put up with to fly with the friends they've made.

Having said that, I don't believe that applies - I believe that MOST (not all, but MOST) people have found that the most recent update out sound nearly back to where it was before - or at least close enough to wait patiently for further improvements.

Sorry that yours is still so out of sorts.

After the first Miles update my sound was wrecked, and I pissed and moaned about it on the bbs. The last update fixed it as I think it did for the majority in here. I know you have the fastest and bestest computer in the world and all, but your constant whining in here and on 200 is getting somewhat tiring.

You have failed to show that this is an issue with the game.  All that we've heard from you is how your system has a tough time running the game after the update but nothing that pin points the cause to the game other than your assumption there is something wrong with the game.

No offense but I see your type all the time at my work, everything is the game's fault and nothing wrong on the end user side when the cause is the end user.

My sounds were buggered when the first update came out.  Now they're just fine.  I'm looking forward to what the new sound system will bring to the game.  I'm looking forward to the new custom sounds the soundpack guys are working on.  I'm looking forward...

Nice generalizations..My machine runs the game Fine. Its more than the game requires by far. As far as me being a variable in troubleshooting. I have always believed that the person is the biggest variable including MYSELF in most any situation. Sad to say This time its not the case. When a change is made the first thing to look at is THE CHANGE.

The engine sounds are to high pitched, over speed on a dive, Vox is not what it used to be. Its unpleasant. FYI, I have tried 2 Completely Sound systems, On board and independent card. YES different drivers. I have also tried 3 completely different sound folders. 1st one is stock and the other are mixes I have compiled from sound packs offered on this site. I am sorry that there are standards for sound that others have. I am not going to settle for a move backwards. Plus try a debate wihout PERSONAL attacks.

A lot of us have already Kam several times.

Realkek HD Audio 5.1 onboard...no problems (actually, the original sounds were not that great on either of my systems).

0 Putting the individual sound sliders back in game is very nice, not an improvement from the old system

-1 The weedeater sound of planes zipping past does not sound near as good as the previous system

-1 Vox quality is horrible by comparison.

+1 Ability to add new sounds (or so I'm told)

I think an objective view would call this a reduction in overall sound quality.  Sometimes ya just can't wish things to be the way you want em.

What exactly is the prerequisite for setting up a computer to play this game?

There is a problem on my end.  A majority of users no longer have this problem.  The problem must be HT's fault.  - Kam

Just to mention a few ...

Video cards ... correct video drivers

Sound cards ... correct sound drivers

Memory (size)

Concurrent tasks running in the background

Virus programs running in the background

Firewall setup

Most important ... a modicum of intelligence and patience

I use an old Creative Sound Blaster Live! sound card with drivers from 2001. I run the sound through my TurtleBeach 8 speakers 5.1 surround sound headset. I use all TwinBooms sounds..... because he makes me.... and I have no trouble at all. After the last update I adjusted a few sliders and have no trouble with VOX, directional sounds are good, and my P38 sounds awesome when I hit E.

I too had been suffering with bad VOX quality until yesterday. I spoke with Skuzzy and he explained that the VOX system looks at the overall performance of the game, plus your connection in order to determine the best VOX setup (I assume this means codec and sampling rate).

I know that I have my video settings and graphics set at the point to get the best possible picture while maintaining a good frame rate (normally 59 but would vary going onto a furball or over strat city). So I dropped back to 512 textures and down to x2 AA, guess what VOX now sounds great! I am going to try a couple different video settings to see if I can get back to the Hi Res textures, but at least I know how VOX works and can make more adjustments.

So if you are experiencing bad VOX quality in game try lowering your video and graphic settings just a bit and see if the VOX gets better.

Sort of defeats the whole purpose ( which we were told was to allow better utilization of resources) of introducing the Miles System doesn't ?
