sorry to burst your bubble but my eldest is 29 and the hand is often still outstretched, there are another three standing behind him too.
-
I like the pictures of people's gear, but I like even more some of the stuff in the background.
For example, I like the nifty poster of airplanes in Masherbrum's setup; I like that SPKmes has some model airplanes around his setup (I'd like to do that one of these days).
And Uptown has the skull of a baby triceratops on his wall.

Those are actually paper models...I have some tanks to make up also..they are a little more detailed...those planes fly too...throw em like a paper plane...they glide really well...or fix a bit of fishing nylon to the belly and tie them to a fan...pretty cool.

Some of you Aces High players have the sloppiest & dirtiest desks in the world. If I were going to post a photo of my desk, I'd at least remove all of the peanut butter cracker crumbs, coffee stains, and dirt. Slobs, LOL :aok I looked at all of the pictures, but only noticed how filthy some of you guys are. Sorry, being honest!!

Did your wife get tired of all her freinds asking her "What the hell is that thing?"
-
HatTrick, what is that, an old keyboard you adapted?? Pretty kewl idea. :aok :salute
Yeah, it's just an old Dell keyboard turned upside down and I glued the labels onto posterboard to make them rigid then glued them on to the keys. It's not my idea though unfortunately. I built all that stuff with plans from these guys: http://www.rogerdodger.net/diyflightsims.html
edit: I should mention that when I happened on the Roger Dodger site, my goal was still to build something authentic like what Conan has there. In the end, I decided that the materials would cost too much and the time and effort would cut into my fishing time too much so I compromised and went with the PVC frame and stand. It doesn't look as cool but it does the job with flying colors. I love that thing.

Oh what the hell

Thanks.
Holy CRAP Conan, is that all functional?? :O
Yes, everything you can see, works.
Conan wins.
Not really, there's always someone with a better setup. This guy is my hero, The Simhardware Simulator Project (http://simhardware.org/index.html)
Check out his web site, look at the detail of some of the stuff he has scratch built.
I don't think he flies AH though.
Yeah, Conan does have the 1337 uber setup...but we need to deduct points for it being a Spit. :D
Doesn't have to be a Spit sir, works just as well in many guises
(http://www.swift72.co.uk/forum_pics/Camel_setup.jpg)
Even multiple pairs of boots for all the arse that rig kicks! How long did that take to build?
I've been Flying (playing) fltsims for 20 years plus, but the current setup I stared work on about three years ago.
The boots are part of a collection of WWI/WWII flying Clothing/Aircraft parts, I've collected over the last 25 years.

A) Conan
I guess I don't have a really good imagination but I would have NEVER thought of setting flat panels up on their end to create the right resolution. TY sir... If I ever win the lottery I am so there.
B) True
What mess?
I guess I was distracted
-
Merlin needs to get his arse in this thread and post up the picture of what he is working on!
-
Did your wife get tired of all her freinds asking her "What the hell is that thing?"
LOL!!! no actually I was getting tired of climbing in and out of it all the time! I built it years ago and was the envy of all mt kids friends when they came over LOL!!! Wife loved it because I was there drinking in stead of in some bar.
Hmm, you have any plans you could send my way? I have every tool that I'd need to do the same.
I could draw something up. Kinda made it up as I went along. Used the draw section of my wifes desk as a center support and built two wings off of that. Her side is just a strait desk, mine does the corner. I wanted as much "real estate" as I could get after spending years in the cockpit.
That is a great desk and I have been thinking of buying a new one maybe i'll just build one too
Thanks Curry. It wasn't that hard to build, and I like the way it came out. If you have the tools and a place to work on it I think it's much better to do it yourself. At least that way I get what I want with out all those trips to the furniture story with the wife! LOL! :aok

one of our towtruck drivers where i used to work had one of them. he was afraid to beat on it till he saw it could actually take it from someone who races.
i took it out(with him riding shotgun), stopped at one end of the shops property, launched it at just under 6,000 rpm......rolled smoke from the fenders, as they caught traction, i power-shifted 2nd, and re-lit em......3rd chattered, and we were doing around 65, and i had to brake for the bend in the road.
it was kind of impressive, as i didn't expect that. he asked me what i thought it'd run. i told him mid to low 14's. sure enough, he ran a 14.75 in it that weekend.....i told him to learn to feel the car as he's running, and he'd get it easily into the low 14's.
that all being said.....i don't think i'd own one.

Ahh, upon further review, it appears like the door serves a purpose, to hold up his keyboard!
Actually it's more of a secondary support. Wanted more support for the keyboard tray but needed to still be able to get out of the desk so a door was best. At the right end of the keyboard tray there is a "foot" (are two but one side has no support built yet) that sticks out towards the front of the desk and runs under the 2x4 when in use (the 2x4 is the one the keyboard cable sits on) so that it can be used while door is opened. You can slightly see the "feet" in the first picture. :)
And NOT that desk is still awesome, love how the controls are depressed into the desk. Ugly desktop plane though, :P

That all you do is flaunt your SUV BK? That makes twice in one lifetime you have wasted my time with your SUV.

If you feel like he is bragging, post a picture of your airplane. An airplane (no matter what kind) trumps any car.

Actually I just rode in the back. Unfortunately the one upside down was a temp replacement while one of our three was getting a new engine. Somewhere around 3,000 feet the loner was in need of a replacement engine. Pilot auto rotated onto a river bank that gave way. The white one was our buddies coming to get us. Just a few bumps and bruises for the 6 man crew. Location Ft. Rucker, Alabama (affectionately known as Mother Rucker), 1971.
