You do know that the P-40 was not a carrier capable plane, correct? Just because they were ferried to the operational theater on a carrier and launched does not make it a carrier capable plane. For that the plane would also have to be capable of landing back on the carrier, which the Kittyhawk was not.
What would happen in sorties like these is that the plane would be delivered to the operational area on a carrier and then flown off to either to their new base or conduct a mission and then fly off to their new base. The P-40s would not return to the carrier and land on it. P-47s were used in a similiar fashion on occasion in the PTO.

You should stop using pop-up books to get information about airplanes.

Not that i am taking sides with Ack-ack. But could you have read something that they did took off a carrier on a mission then landed at a land base?
I know it sounds ridiculous but perhaps it was a "Doolitle raid" style by conserving fuel do to distance to and back of the mission.
-
No "perhaps" about it...
Think about it folks... These short range planes showing up all across the world... most of them got there via transport, jeep carrier or some other flat-top like ship that wasn't intended for combat purposes.
They did not take off with bombs on, and they didn't fly combat missions directly from the carriers.
It was a simple ferry stage.
-
And they were Merlin engined P40 F and Ls of the 33rd, 57th and 325th FGs that were ferried to North Africa and then launched from the carriers, but not into combat, just to their land base. Same for Many of the Malta Spit Vb and Vc, and Jugs in the PTO to Saipan

P-40F was arguably the best

Come on Ack-Ack, after reading Derk's posts, you should know 5 is many...more than that would be equivalent to s.o.p.

Look at those bombs!!!
Wooo-hooo navalized P-40s! Yea!
No, I'm not being serious...
-
Oh no! Its a P-51VLR! Actually, in keeping with naval tradition, the aircraft had to have the name 'Cat' in it, but the closes they could come to merging Mustang and Cat ended up Muskrat, cause the guy who came up the with idea had a speech impediment.

This gave way to the famous "ThunderCat"

Or how about the famous 'Fat Albert-cat' of the 1960s?

Sorry, this is like watching a bus crash...
You do know that the campaign in North Africa ENDED in April 1943, with the surrender of Axis forces, right?
-
ill look more into it but one thing i do know is that theydid see combat because there was a photograph in this book of the p40m with a bomb on it

I do believe though that some of the P-47s on USS Manila Bay were launched as DEFCAP when the carrier came under attack during the Saipan campaign. No kills or contact if I remember correctly.

I saw a movie with Ben Affleck where he flew a B-25 off an aircraft carrier so I think that our B-25 should be able to do that like Ben Affleck.
Edit: Nevermind, we already have a thread about the B-25. lol

I'm not going to try and argue, since you're not right on this one, and there's no point in egging you on. I just want to point out for your own personal education that drop tanks are not bombs.

Actually, that movie is more like AH than we realize...
First we start out on a low-perk Stearman, then we're flying Spitfires, then P-40s, then B-25s, then back to the Stearman! All in 108 minutes!
Where else, but in AH, can you do anything remotely close to that?!?!
Ben Affleck loves Aces High, Josh Hartnett wonders why he's not as famous as Ben Affleck (cause he don't hang around with Matt Damon), and Kate Beckinsdale is just plain HOT.
Any Questions?

Agreed...and they should perk Kate Beckinsale...especially in nude scenes, as perky as you can get. :D

Say it isn't so. Who ever heard of a P-40 carrying a bomb?
Considering the other erroneous assumptions you have made from photos, you should probably have read the full text before making further erroneous assumptions based on a photo...just sayin.

N/M.

I don't know if I can afford the price of this perk ride...

She's just plain gorgeous...

A lot of people new to the game look through a few books and see the pics of the P-40s on CVs in the Med or the P-47s on CVs in the Pacific and make the same mistake. Their enthusiasim to add an idea or participate towards improving the game gets the better of them. If Air Warrior Warbirds or Aces High had been available in the 50s 60s and 70s a lot of us old farts would have made some of the same mistakes. Since we didn't have computer sims to fly and fight the planes on, we built models of them and read books about them. I know when somebody comes up with an idea like this it may be tempting to flame them but understand they didn't have to wait a couple of decades wishing they could fly these aircraft in a sim. The sim was here and their interest really didn't start until they found the sim. So they don't have years of reading on the subject behind them and they're going to make bad assumptions until they do. You guys could cut them a little bit of slack. :lol
