I first became aware of this evidence in 1981, therefore, this addition is way overdue.

what you think the perk value would be?
Title: Re: F-14 tomcat! Dec 1941
Post by: whiteman on October 20, 2010, 05:01:05 PM
early war arena maybe 5, no perk value in LW where it will get minimal use.

something tells me catapults back then would just slowly nudge an f-14 off the deck

the fleet air arm used the same steam catapults  that would later launch f4 phantoms . they could have power adjusted as necessary  for aircraft weights.

Obviously the Nimitz Class was also in service back then, so I see it being added along with the F-14.

I have the movie on DVD. The director said they had to fly the Tomcats at near stall speed to fly along side the Zero's. Also, those are not Zero's. They painted some other type of plane to look like Zero's. They also enhanced Kirk Douglas' chin to give him that square jawed look.

Clearly this aircraft saw combat, and was in squadron strength.

HTC crew needs to get to work right away!
