somehow i stumbled upon a thread that ended some 8 years ago about this very topic. figured i'd start a new one instead of necro-bumping the original thread. so..... how did you create yours?
i originally chose "Wildcat1" for my high school mascot. the "1" was because i thought it would sound original (we all thought crazy things as 2-weekers)
about 6 months ago, i changed it to "swede91", because my family has Swedish herritage. "91" because my birth year is 1990. i mistakenly pressed "1" instead of "0", but didnt notice until i was in-game.
after the Philipine Phandango scenario i changed my name back to "Wildcat1" because of my admiration for the F-M2 Wildcat. that bird has gotten me through a lot of messes.
so what's your story?
-
there's been a couple since.
Mine is from FFVII. I loved that game and used Seph since I started oh so long ago. The only change was the addition of the SE 3 weeks after I started.
-
Strokes is 1 letter away from my name. Its a nickname in school.
-
I started as ddragon during tour 51, cuz dragon was taken. Took a short 1 year or so break, came back as leDragon for a few years. I changed to chef after the Dayton gathering in 2009 by popular demand. Took on the SW after squad change.

My favorite style of music.
I chose this spelling thinking "Blues" was probably already taken.

Just finished playing Army of Two (second one) and got back to AH, so I went with Salem. And my friend went with Rios lol.
-
Started AH as Greg429, changed to WylEdawg cuz my bro loves Wyle E. Coyote(super genius), morphed into KjunFlyr cuz I'm from La., became coona55 (spelled in all caps I got in trouble w/ Skuzzy), then changed to DaCoon so folks would know coona55 wasn't abducted by aliens. :D

Well
When I was a 2 weeker about 3 to 4 years ago. I did not have any idea how to choose a name, purely cause I was about 12 or 13 at the time. Just click and play was my thing. I was assigned B67891.
Now I flew like this, and when I got my mic my aussie accent and humor got me plenty of friends (and enemies cause of the squeaking!), so they all called me B6.
Well I got sick of being called NUMBERS GUY, so I changed it to B6Dogftr. The B6 was there to make sure everyone knew who it was, I flew like that for a while too, but people called me "Dogfart" so I thought, screw them I will come up with my new name.
An because of my name, Peter Arthur Charles Lawrance. I said, hang on lets use my initials, drop the last name cause its a Gamer Tag and you get PAC.
Pacman = B6Pacman = Famous Australian loudmouth.
There we go :aok

When I signed up I mistook my account name for my callsign and got it bass-ackwards. I changed my callsign when I came back after a year's break but no one knew who I was, so I switched it back.
Back in the CFS/IL2 days it was Freiejager.

Because I find the character Yossarian from Catch-22 rather amusing, and I find myself agreeing with his logic moderately often.
Also I love that book. In fact, I may just go and start rereading it now.
P.S. My love of the B-25 comes from the book, not vice versa ;)

from the expression Flotsam & Jetsam, which is the name for the debris field left after a plane crash and the wash up on shore after a ship wreck.
one of my favorite metal bands called Flotsam & Jetsam
i joined Aces High as a way to spend more time hanging out with my best friend, (known to you all in Aces High as Paul, Ink, Mortis, and i believe one or two other callsigns) I took the name FLOTSOM (i prefer the "o" sound to the "a" sound in the word) and he took the name JETSOM as kind of a parody of our playing style. always be aggressive and always leave a mess behind.
we were a part of the B.O.P.'s for a short time after i first started playing Aces High, but we left the B.O.P.'s due to differences in playing styles and personal preferences to form our own little squad. It was called SUICIDE DWEEBZ, our motto was "BLOOD OR BULLETS" as those were the only acceptable reasons for RTB. It was our way of ensuring that we never got score hungry, as we would almost always assuredly die every time we took to the sky.
we would live up to our names....
-
Three Reasons, mainly.
1.The Bobcat (Thusly Wildcat) is the animal of Kentucky, I love them, their looks and their mannerisms.
2.The Kentucky Wildcats are my favorite team, Women's BBall, Men's Basketball, Football, you name it, I love it. (Except baseball, I never got into that sport, I'll still root against any rival teams that try to beat us.)
3.The F4F and F2M are some sweet rides in the game.
Add in my squad, The Freebirds, and you get (Now in-game) FBWldcat.

"Bud" served in the USAF reserves until 1977 and retired. He was called up during the Korean and early Vietnam conflicts to teach new pilots the basics of low altitude carbet bombing without the use of a bombardier. Luckily, he was allow to sit out those 2 conflicts because he was self employed and has a family. FWIW, his pilots logs show his B24D on 2 different occasions bombing Japanese defensive positions w/ 100lb bombs while flying at 550 ft over the target area. :O
I lost my grandfather in October of 2002, and to this day my throat tightens when thinking of him. He meant the world to me and I miss him dearly. I only hope to be half the man he was.
My forum name is based on my favorite guitar player's favorite on stage buzz medicine: EVH and his "Smoking Loon" merlot wine.

First initial and last name........I wish i was more creative :rofl

Usually I use the name "Himid" (which I got when I was watching the news and the weather reporter missspelled 'Humid'), but I wanted something new for AHII. Got a glimpsy of my dads Rolling Rock sitting on the table and the word "Latrobe". Not sure why, but I took a liking to that name and chose it. Now I keep getting asked if I'm from Latrobe, PA or like Rolling Rock (The answer is no to both, I'm still just 19 :neener: )

World War 2 80th FS "Headhunter" pilot Corky Smith named his 2nd 38 Corky Jr. Seemed to fit when I saw this photo of him bringing it in single engine.
Forum name comes from the nickname of a P38 pilot in my favorite fighter pilot book "Nanette" by Edwards Park. Guppy flew 38s with the 39th FS, 35th FG. Guppy35 predates CorkyJr.

My gear usually weighed more than me.

Well my name is Branch, and 37 was my football number.
-
back in aw my brother's call sign was semp take a wild guess why. we both played using the same id. i took the name after he left for the big sky. then stopped playing for about 8 years. then came back as guncrasher. everybody in my old squad would always tease me about my inability to land any plane. they would say that all i could do was gun b17's and crash.
I took semp when it became available a couple of years ago.

Got mine from friends and teammates while playing baseball as a kid. They'd say, "He can knock the ball out of the park every time!" You know kids, they started mixing it up, saying it faster and in different ways and then ended up with the nickname canacka.

di·chot·o·my
/daɪˈkɒtəmi/ Show Spelled[dahy-kot-uh-mee] Show IPA
–noun, plural -mies.
division into two mutually exclusive, opposed, or contradictory groups: a dichotomy between thought and action.
When I worked for Philip Morris as the National Event Coordinator for their country dance contest. We were in a meeting in New York and the Director of Marketing jokingly said 'hey when we go to the clubs (my name) can teach us how to country dance'
'No actually I can't'
'Can't dance never bothered to learn as I was always DJ'ing'
he give me a long look and says
'So, let me get this straight, you're running the worlds largest amateur dance contest for the worlds largest cigarette manufacturer and you can't dance and don't smoke'
'Pretty much'
'Boy you're just a walking talking dichotomy'
And that's been me since.

Was originally (and for about a decade) Treize, after my favorite anime character.
Briefly changed to White13 when I was exclusively flying in the AvA and running Grupul 7 Vanatoare. Changed back when I went back to the MA.
Currently, after a long hiatus, back under the callsign 2Dragoon in honor of the unit I reenact, the Second Continental Light Dragoons.

i tried learning to line dance once. the bar i was at had 3 bars within. i tended to go to the lest crowded one.......there were about 5 of us there. the batender insisted on trying to teach us, even though she knew we were all drunk.
it wasn't pretty. :rofl

The first flying game I played on the computer was Wing Commander. You had to create a name and call sign for your pilot. I always like the story of Rikki Tikki Tavi. So I named my pilot Rick Tavi, and his call sign was Mongoose.
I used the same call sign for War Birds, and now Aces High.

Major Stanley Wooley - Royal Flying Corps, Western Front 1916 to 1918. Principle charcter of the book 'Goshawk Squadron' by Derek Robinson which, along with all his other books, is highly recommended.

I fly under Penguin, since all of the names from the Redwall http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redwall[/i]]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redwall (http://[i) series were taken. I figured that animals were next on the list, and penguins never seem to have any luck these days with the melting icecaps. I decided to pick it in order to showcase what may be a soon-extinct order and family.

I got this name from attempting to use too many emoticons in my AIM screen name when I was 7 years old. Due to the fact that nobody would choose it at random, it's stuck. I use it on every website I visit/sign up for.
