Title: I will be a Spy
Post by: Ping on October 24, 2010, 12:50:43 PM
If I see CV's being hidin out of extreme range, I will call it out.

Its my 14.99 and I will play it like I like.

p.s. I wont call out battle plans or up comming ops.

Just hidin CV's.

Unless HTC comes up with a suitable response to this problem.
Wish.....find a way to scuttle Cv once past a certain point in

I see more of a problem with people moving our cvs to far positions, then switching back to another country. This happpes often @ odd hours of play...

I don't like the cv's hidden either but I won't switch countries or call them out on 200.  Hiding some cv's is ok but not using some when we have bases around port isn't helping.  Ya it's your money play however you want is your attitude thats fine but you'll forever be a tard to me if I see you doing it.  I'll let you get killed before I will jump in on your six to save you.  I don't think we need to be taking this sort of action and that's my 2 cents.

I usually try to turn the CV back toward the action. If it is taken away from me and turned towards the "back woods" again I call out and tell everyone on the country channel that if the CV doesn't turn back I will report it's location every 5 minutes until it stays turned toward the action, or is sunk.

I've seen it work both ways, return to action as well as sunk (guided people strait to them). It's a game, there is no reason to "hide" them.

No..thats your 14.99

Tagma...Hiding Cvs at the lowest Left corner possible
when you have Numerical and Base superiority is just about criminal.

Where is the Honour that is supposed to be here.

Does <S> mean Nothing? That is a measure of Honour. If you <S> everyone and then
stoop to low tactics then it means NOTHING.

Great post, I was amassing them Friday night to make a 3 CV group raid, since they were hidden I felt that it was ok to get them all grouped up and sent back into action.

Obviously not because once they were steaming in perfect formation a squad took control of them and dispersed them back to the corners of the map, I was told that it was stupid to group them all up and to send them in at that.

Hiding CVs is a very stupid thing to do, if you want to win the war it doesn't even help because on the large map like we have right now, it is impossible to win.

HTC needs to put a timer or limit the range of them, makes sense because a CV could just keep going straight for months on end to my knowlegde.

As for now, I'll just have to keep BnZing at the same base until the map is reset and more fights are started.

If I see CV's being hidin out of extreme range, I will call it out.   why not just move it into play??

Its my 14.99 and I will play it like I like.  sure it's your money, knock yourself out

p.s. I wont call out battle plans or up comming ops. you think people are going to post anything when they see you on?

Just hidin CV's. Again, move them into a fighting sector, or just "UP" from that CV the enemy will see it and kill it, no spying needed there

Unless HTC comes up with a suitable response to this problem.  i don't think giving HTC a ultimatum with "spying" is going to make them institute something just for you
Wish.....find a way to scuttle Cv once past a certain point in
reference or time.

Personaly Spying in this game is a joke and most people either take offense to it or just choose to ignore that person in game all together
edit....  when i see CV's out in nomans land i change there course into battle, if someone complains i ask them why hide a cartoon CV im going to put it into play, only the cartoon captains get there feelings hurt

I see a lot of CV over-management.  That is, take port X and CV X, and then move CV X out to somewhere safer and bring in CV Z from another port to defend the port.  The problem is when CV Z goes down it's not going to respawn at port X, so eventually that port is going to be lost.  So now you've lost a base and have a CV you can't really use.   So better to just leave the CV near the port if it's in a hot zone.  Or attack with it right away.

Has it occurred that some people actually like hunting them down?

I enjoy  finding then repossessing enemy cv's with a group of guys in 234's...

It the only thing worth spending bomber perk points on...

IMHO:

Hiding CVs...BS!

Switching countries to find CVs...BS!

Switching countries to maneuver CVs out of action during a fight...BS!

Broadcasting CV locations on 200...BS!

Just a game, but all of the tit for tit childish actions stated above make it less fun for all.

Bush..It was not 1 CV... It was 2 from 2 Different countries.
All hidden even tho you had # superiority and bases.

Happens frequently. If it was an occasional instance it wouldnt even be mentioned.

INteresting.  Equally so ... several months ago a low ranked individual swapped sides to gain control of a hidden CV and set it steaming back towards his country.  When the hue and cry via phone to HTC went out, Skuzzy wasn't long in logging in and informing said thief, "give it up or it will end badly for you".

I wonder what I can infer from that?

Where is the Honour that is supposed to be here.

You seem to have trouble distinguishing "honour" and "stupidity".

Do you also refrain from shooting anyone down unless they plainly know you're on their six and are maneuvering to avoid you?

It's a game. Strategy is part of the game. Sneakiness, concealment, deceiving the enemy as to your intent, and using assets strategically (which means not using them all if the risk is greater than the reward) are all part of the game.

Ratting out your teammates, even if they don't play the way you think they ought to play, is NOT part of the game. It is dirty, low, dishonest, unsportsmanlike, no-class behavior.

How about the "honour" of playing 100% for the team you're on at any given time? What happened to that "honour"?

Of course, you're free to take control of the task group and send it wherever you like. And they're free to send it back. That's part of the game too. You're also free to argue about it on country as long as you refrain from abusive language.

Btw, in case you hadn't noticed, you can still up any cartoon plane you like and go hunt the enemy anywhere you like even if your side has NO CVs in play. That's doubly true if your side has plenty of other CVs to use to attack enemy bases. You can even fly CV planes from land bases. Your game play is not diminished in the slightest. There's no less furballing, the other team isn't going anywhere and neither is yours.

The only problem here is one we see all the time, some players having their day ruined because everyone else isn't doing what they think they ought to be doing, and taking it on themselves to retaliate by ruining their day in return. Grow the "heck" up. You aren't the Grand Admiral of the Ocean Sea, everyone else isn't required to play like you say they should, and when you take it on yourself to try to spoil their game in retaliation for their refusal to obey your orders you're acting like a spoiled 5-year-old.    :cry

i have only had need to call on the phone a few times, and their people on the phone have never been anything but spectacular towards me. i've emailed em once or twice, with the same results.
never about a problem in the game...always about account related things...in one instance helping another member keep his membership current.

my "less than friendly" reference is due to the fact i thoughti had remembered people complaining about some of them....and everyone seems to think skuzzy has no sense of humor.
if someone is actually going to call them on the phone to complain about anothers gameplay........i can honestly see that pissing them off.

i can fully understand whines here, and ingame(although they annoy me somewhat), but to bother them in the office.......i would be insulting children if i were to call that childish.

Cap..with all your recent replies, cant help but think you may be pissed off.

Some good ideas being floated here

i'm not even close to pissed off.

i just find it somewhat difficult, and very dissappointing that a bunch of grown men flying cartoon airplanes for fun(?) take a cv group being hidden seriously enough as to let it spoil their fun.
then some feel the need to go switch sides, and find it, and call it out.

why worry about it? if it's not ni play, don't sweat it. if someone wants to spend his time hiding it...so be it. it's no reason for someone else to be pissed.
and again.....rather than get pissed about it, then do something . move it. rather than give up command when you've set the course, keep command.

finding them is probably not that hard.....i'm sure lusche could chime in on this......so finding it, and sinking it where they think it could be a fun thing too. besides...then it'll respawn at the port, and be in play.

If your not going to take any of your own advise on how to take a CV down that's 15 sectors away and its obvious that it does not bother you either way, why are you posting again?  Oh because you are concerned about somebody else being concerned?

you almost sound as if you're concerned that i may be concerned about someone else being concerned about something concerning something.

we're grown men. step back, and read some of this crap from a perspective as if you never saw this place before.

say the CV did get put back into play... you'll sneak it close to an enemy base and then sure as the sun is coming up tomorrow some  will up a  :airplane: from it solo, way before the "time" is right and the boat will get sunk anyway  (this happens more often then not)

or better yet---work on being a ranktard (it's really not that hard :old:) so you can control the CV and  :neener: at all the  :cry'tards when they complain about your lack of boat driving skillz

I still say: 3 hour timer on CV - if enemy holds port for 3 hours, the CV sinks automatically. Doesn't hamper any normal CV operation, and even "operational" hiding (=getting CV out of harms way) when the enemy is about to capture the port is still possible.
Just no more hiding of CVs 10 sectors behind the front for a whole week no matter what.  :aok

CV doesn't need to be parked on the beach to be useful, keep it a half sector beyond radar range till base has ord and SB down. Thats just a whole different problem with CV usage that can be a 6 page thread on it's own.

Lusches idea is the one i like most.

Conversely ... some could find it somewhat difficult, and very disappointing that a bunch of grown men flying cartoon airplanes for fun(?) take a cv group and hide it ... for their fun ... and won't let others use it.

This is a Catch 22 argument.

Good idea, but rather than scuttle it, make it appear on the map just like any other enemy base so that they have to destroy it. It shouldn't just get "turned over" ... sink and earn it.

well....yes, and no.

if those that are hiding it know for fact(which i would think they do by now) that it annoys a great number of people, they they will continue such behavior.
if they get no rise, or reaction out of doing such, then they will more than likely stop doing it.

and yes, you are right.  :aok

The "rise" is not the "hiding" ... the "rise" comes when others want to use them as an offensive platform and the "keepers" of the Navy restrict that.

There is a case where "hiding" is justified IMHO.

If the enemy has taken or snuck a port, the moving (hiding) of the CV is appropriate. I like to keep that CV close but out of harms way and wait until the enemy has moved their focus somewhere else. Then I would then move the CV back towards the port and use it as a platform to try and take back the port in conjunction with support from a nearby base or bases.

i don't disagree with ya at all.

the fact that so many are making such a big deal out of such a simple thing.........

Whack.....Whack......Whack... ... sound of dead whine being beat.......go ahead and turn it! unless you have 2 accounts, that hour u have to wait to switch back, the cv will be somewhere else by then!

Technically, that's four, considering 'it's' is a contraction for 'it' and 'is'...

Just sayin'.
Based on my research, knowledge of grammar and MS Word (the word count feature), "it's" is one word..

 :x

On topic, hiding CV's is lame.  Use it, protect it, enjoy it.
