hello! i'm new to the fourms but not Aces High. i don't play online play because my parents don't want to pay the $15 :frown:
I have not much fighter experience because my computer won't let me even play offline missions
-
welcome! my suggestion to you is to find a way to earn money (my first job was mowing my neighbor's lawn at age 14), and pay the subscription yourself.
also, check the training section of the forums, there's loads of great info from a number of fine gents. believe me, there is not much you can learn from slow-moving planes flying in a loose continuous circle.
when i first started playing online, i was blown away at the vast expanses of knowledge that i did not know, so just sit back and take advice. and listen quietly! no one likes an annoying squeaker (not pointing at you, but it does happen a lot).
if and when you do jump online, try to find myself or "BAR321" on bishops, and we'd be glad to let you fly with our squad (20th FG "Loco Busters") and teach you everything we know. but read everything you can on the trainers site and take advice from anyone who offers it (just dont fall for the "alt-f4" trick :lol)
good luck in your search for subscription money sir :salute

i make around $45 a month because of allowence, but my parents don't even let ME pay for it. say, can i mail the money instead of credit card use? what is the alt-f4 trick?
-
don't fall for it
do a lot of research on the board about questions you have (yes I know the search feature is a pain but it will save you a lot of headaches in the future)
best of luck
-
Alt F4 basically just exits the program.
You can mail a money order each month if you'd like.
I believe you mail it to this address:
HiTech Creations, Inc.
625 W. College St., Suite 200
Grapevine, TX 76051
Just enclose the money, your account login and callsign and you should be set. Just make sure you get it in a while before payment is due.
-
I don't think it's such a good idea to send cash in an envelope, if you can avoid it.
If you do decide to go that route, make sure you wrap the cash in a piece of paper so that you cannot see the money through the envelope.
-
Welcome to Ace High. Take note to what Wildcat1 , Dichotomy , and Spikes had to say. There are a few ppl on these broads and on the game that will pick on you or cause some kind of problems.
-
Ask your folks for asbestos underwear.

Or better yet use a money order.
ack-ack
-
Do you have an older sibling, you could pay them $15, and have them pay HTC directly, via credit card, paypal, etc...
-
I NEVER :) okay only you Oak cause you got a thick skin and stuff :aok
lol, that from working construction for 4 years. Got to put up with a lot of crap in that job.
-
Ask your folks for asbestos underwear.
Shame on you for suggesting that. You very well know that today's kids don't have the protective coating of air-bourne DDT coating their lungs to protect us from asbestos like your generation had thanks to years of paintchip eating, and the hardy construction materials used in your school buildings.

my mom talked to me about those, but i didn't dare ask if i could get one because my parents get all cranky when i ask about paying the $15 a month :furious
-
AH2 subscription = $0.50 a day.. That's less than most of our FAT American kids probably spend on Twinkies and Coke (the kind you drink).. Money well spent IMHO. :rock

i agree! but my parents don't see it as $.50 a day, they see it as over $150 a year :huh

Karaya wheres that cool trolling pic?

Listen to your parents. If and when they say no, it means no. No further discussion is necessary.
-
There's some truth in that, you really shouldn't defy your parents. You might start checking out WWII books at the library and such, maybe they will appreciate you taking an interest in history and lighten up on you playing the game.
Why is it you can't play offline missions?
-

I have to ask. How old are you?
-
Parents suk sometimes, hate them sometimes, get mad and stomp to my room, love them other times, that's what my 5 year old tells me :)
Maybe your get to play in the future, it's a great game S! Good Luck
-
I asked my parents every year at my birthday for 3 years to play aces high.
When my dog died they bought me the subscription.
That was almost 6 years ago
-
Well, I'm 13 years old. I pay for the game all by myself on my Disney card. I live in Alaska and plow snow for $10 per house and business is booming. :)

Sure, just give me a $1,000 dollar ticket there or do 13 year olds count as adults?

forgot to ask, did you know there is a 2 week free trial? it doesnt start until you activate an account, and if you havn't played online yet, you could still get the trial. all you need to do is open the game, click on "account settings", create an account, and you should be offered the trial right then and there. it's only two weeks, but you could learn some valuable stuff in that two weeks. justremember to contact a trainer if you need help because most guys in the main arenas will pick on you relentlessly
-
But he should be able to run the game offline before any hope of trying it online...

-
Maybe you should get a computer that will run the game before you pay for a subscription, you know.....save money!
besides why would you want to pay for something you cannot do? There may be a reason your parents wont let you play with real money! :rofl
-
Does nobody else smell what I smell? :headscratch: A very nice young man.......... Congrats, you passed the background check! :salute
And he even gave us a shout out:
i don't think many BYCers know about Fly Aces High except for my constant blabber about it. here is a link to their website: http://www.hitechcreations.com/frindex.html
lol, i use the same user name on the Aces High fourm & here!
i bet Q9 would like Aces High!
Now go mow some lawns!
As for offline...... UNINSTALL the game, reinstall it. Then, don't mess with arena settings yourself and download some "Offline Missions." Play those in offline mode and you'll learn more than just the regular offline maps.

Although I agree in spirit in you wanting to play so bad I DO NOT agree with you going behind your parents back to get what you want. As a parent myself it would cause me great concern if people I dont know were encouraging my child to do something I told them not too. I don't know your home situation. Do your folks have your best interest at heart and dont want you online due to interference with your school work? Or are there other issues at work we dont know about?
I think what you are proposing is violating a trust between you and your folks. If you want to look good in their eyes I think the earned allowance and priveleges idea was the best. Look them in the eye and tell them what you would like to do. Explain it in a mature adult way and you may be surprised what they may allow. Do it another way and you only invite trouble. Its all part of being an adult which you will be soon enough, better get busy practicing.

i'm going to talk to my parents about being able to send money via mail. i told my mo, but she was on the computer so she didn't say much.

I think the first thing you should do is get your computer straightened out and find out why you can't run offline missions, Lot's of help available here, in the help and training forum and off line mission forum.
Once you can do that, practice flying offline missions for a while, then when you have some basic skills and want to go online, contact HTC, tell them you never got your 2 week trial. This will help you make the most of your free two weeks then you can try to get your folks permission to subscribe.

What jimsom said.
When I was a kid (back in the Dark Ages when there was no internet, no computers, and color TV was a novelty) I was a newly licenced ham radio operator. I built many of the necessities myself, but even then components, PC boards, tubes (yes tubes), wire, and solder cost money. I did not expect my parents to support my "habit" so I did everything I could to make my own cash.
Mowing lawns paid good (even WAY better now), raking leaves, planing strawberries at local farms in the Spring, babysitting, and doing manual labor for the neighbors (I used to bust up concrete with a sledge hammer for $2.15 an hour) brought cash back then and still does.
Being that you are computer savvy, you can type up and print school reports for other students, make simple web sites..all pay ok but it all adds up.
Hone your skills vs the offline AI and practice bombing and divebombing offline while you earn your way to your own AH. Last I heard HTC offered some sort of discount incentive for buying 6 months in advance with a check or money order.
Good luck and I hope to see you in game.

To be honest with you chickenrandomness, as fun as this game can be, you are so much better saving your money so that you can put bigger down payments on life requirements later on (or, ideally, pay for them in cash).
If you can't find a way to entertain yourself for free at 13, I have no idea what you're going to do at 23, or 33.
It's your life, but boy, if I coulda done it all over again...
Edit - did... did I just become "old?"

well, im sorry about your ban, but atleast its not a perma-ban.
as for your friend, at your age, people do things off of impulse, especially when they are steamed. and remember, just because you arent facebook friends anymore doesnt mean you arent real friends. Facebook is just a website. if you want to fix things with her, wait maybe a day or two, and have a nice face-to-face conversation. if things work out, everything will be normal again. good luck! :aok

Why don't you sell eggs to pay for AH??????? :old:
-
Here's what u do.
First make sure your computer will work the game. Then download the game and try the free 2 week trial. While you have the 2 week trial, log on to the game, find a air field with lots of planes buzzing around. Up wirble then go get your dad and say try this dad!
If you dont get to play on your computer the rest of the day dont be sad, this means your gonna get to play!
This is what my son did to me and it worked!
He had aksed several times to play just as you have.
Good luck

This thread reminds me of the commercial on TV of the TSA officer being called to review a presentation of a person at the airport during screening and the TSA officer starts looking at the person's hard-copy presentation and flips through the pages and yawns, says booring... and than starts snoozing.
All the Best and kill this boooooooooooooooooring thread...

:old:Welcome to Aces mate youre going to enjoy it and miss out on girlfreinds hehe, Seriously though for a second you can do as some others have suggested and get a job to pay for the habit that is aces high.
Perhaps if you discussed this with your parents and showed them that you are prepared to pay it they might see you are trying to be "grown up" about it and agree to try it for a while, But be warned there are people in here whos only wish is to shoot you down so that they can up the kill points, Apparently some people worry about their scores lol personaly i dont know what mine are and can honestly say i dont care.
Its all about the fight not the kudos, there are plenty in here who feel the same so you will get plenty of help and advice from most arenas but you can also go into training arena.
ok ok ive been far to serious time to bail hehe ttfn........Merlin out. :old:

To everyone who is seeing this thread as a point of humor and are just trolling, please don't do it here.
Chicken, folks like you who try to keep getting better at this game and actually enjoy it instead of getting angry at small things like arena caps, hordes, ramming, or any of that other stuff are the reason why this game is great and why it is something I'm proud to say I'm addicted to. Just keep rocking on and you'll get better. :salute

But back to topic. Pigs makes a valid point, and I find this sort of thing ties in even with my ALT-F4 thread... We constantly smack around the new folks and at the end of the day, it doesn't help the business, nor the game, HTC is providing us. If we don't greet the new blood with open arms we will no longer have nuggets to replace retirees.
