Did you know you can tune to yourself and hear how you sound? Type your own name in to vox 5 and talk.
I say this because while you may not have "that high" of a voice in person you may on vox.
So typing more and listening or talking less will go a long way with getting respect.
I have nothing against any of you but I don't like squelching you. (it is unbearable sometimes when young kids talk)
-
I suppose a squeaker got on your never?
-
sorry for us squeakers :)
but you have to deal with us.
-
It is way more unbearable when one particular "adult" curses non-stop and has his mic cranked pretty loud. I squelch him on sight.
-
I don't let squeakers get on my nevers. ;)
-
I squeaked with pride my first 3 years - and if I ever got my mic working again I'd sound like James Earl Jones
(what can I say)
-
sqeak sqeak SQEAK    :rock :rock :rock :bolt: :salute. I think you squelch them because there doing to many play by plays and what happened at school today. I would do the same thing. A sqeaker probably asking a 5 worded question I don't think so. Take my buddy Nate for example.

No one in particular got on my nerves just trying to get through to these guys...I mean when i was 10-14 I wasn't rambling like they do...
Just type if you wanna get a message across.
Oh yea I got beat if I was out of line at that age lol

Laugh Out Loud!!!
Great thread Brotha!!!

I happen to love when squeakers get on vox, it is endlessly entertaining for me. I will look for the film from 3 or 4 years ago when I persuaded one to sing the ABC's for 10 minutes during a furball :lol
-
I've done that, but I don't squeak
-
I even squelch myself :old:
-
I had a staring contest with myself using a mirror on the 2nd hour I won.
I feel besides squelching him tell him what he's doing wrong, so later on you won't half to squelch him again.
-
Uhh. Anyone remember Dlamb?
-
Uhh. Anyone remember Dlamb?
He could out squeak a dog toy.

We have a squaddie now who used to be a very bad squeeker, then I was gone from the game one or two weeks... I heard this deep voice, didn't know who it was, looked up at the yellow lettering and.... I just about had a heart attack... *SNIFF You kiddies grow up so fast :cry
-
I knew there was a subliminal reason I play my game over speakers and drink red wine. It's to see if the glass would break from the feedback-like sound of upset children in cartoon airplanes.
-
Anyone remember Yackyyan or whatever his name was? lol
Remember....squeeker vox is 225 in the MA. It was started long ago when some of us were squeekers and ran around like power rangers :)

I never had squeaker voice when i was a teen... My voice at that time was more like The Rock (Dwane Johnson) when I'm pumped up or Shaq O'Neal when I'm bored and not excited.
-
GV'ers are the new squeaker as far as I can tell. Their yappity yap like a sewing circle, inceasantly, making air coms near to impossible, then yell at each other about not being able to here because of running engines.
I avoid over-flying GV battles for this reason.
I can squelch a squeaker. 20 men discussing ricochet's and Albertson's coupons should tune to themselves though
-
The solution to hi pitched voices is simple, run you sound through an equilizer and cut all fequencies above 2k down to -12dB. I've done this for years and have little or no problems with them now,I cant always hear them but then as Martha says"thats a good thing"!
:salute

The last 3 or 4 scenarios I have volunteered for walk on player assignment duty...
Surprisingly you can set these guys aside for awhile during the assignment process, then get back to them and explain the importance and benefit of non-emotional and clear and meaningful communication...
Some of the most enthusiastic 'squeaker' types have turned out to be incredible assets to the units they were assigned to...and I cannot count the times when what originally appeared as a squeaker...bacame a sought after asset on follow on frames...
I think the best thing to do when you encounter a squeaker is get him to join you on a private chat at a remote tower and just clear a few things up with them...like how the overall game politics work...how important measured and meaningful communication is...
Of course some of them are to immature to deal with that...but many of them will surprise you...after all they have decided to play a game that is far more technical than most other online games...
At first...give them a break...and try and help them....their are plenty of diamonds in the rough amongst the squeaker population...
From time to time some are beyond hope...and I squelch them...but many of these kids are just enthusiastic and have the zeal of youth....
Give them a chance before you throw them out...

I was never a squeaker in the natural sense of the word either, but even now I catch myself keying up when I probably shouldn't and giving play-by-plays. Eh, I'm annoying. Not my problem. :D
-
....get back to them and explain the importance and benefit of non-emotional and clear and meaningful communication...
Try explaining this concept to my wife. :huh :lol

But nothing compared to an adult going crazy for not getting a check6 or because I did not strafe radar as I was commanded to ehh? Leave the kids alone. If it is that bad maybe bring up the base on your speakers a bit? 10 years in this game I only had problems with the so called adults :aok

Tried this 4 days in a row with one squeaker, wouldn't listen, so...SQUELCH! :salute
BTW what's a nevers? :D
-
I will gladly welcome a young player. We need for more young people to appreciate how hard it was to hit a target from a fighter plan during WWII. I myself gained a new respect and appreciation for WWII fighter pilots after I started playing. And I know that the real thing was even harder.
Having said that, I also agree that it would be a good thing for younger players to hear how they sound on the air. I would suggest recording a couple of flights, and then play them back to see how you sound to other pilots.
An interesting side note to this: I have a definite tenor voice. Many years ago, the phone company started using equipment that just happened to raise the pitch of my voice. I could tell when the equipment was upgraded in a certain part of the country, because people started calling me "ma'am" on the phone. :o It was rather irritating, but I had to live with this for quite a while before a another equipment upgrade put things back to normal.

Many more between age of 13-10 such as CABOOSE and such(squeakers stick together)
-
What just killed me?, is that a reference to my most uttered sentence, or is that me coming out of nowhere in a spitfire and killing you LOL.
I was in a squad , back in the times called THE CREW. I hope for your sakes you were not on the same range freq.
Squad members:
B6Pacman (Me at age 13)
Botkins / NanoCrew
CrzyThnU (13)
JohnnyJr
Hcetih (12 year old with attitude)
SgtShrif
Trinity3
GhostCDB
79Nerdie (13)
Ruler2
Basically, no one over the age of 17 was in the squad at any time. And 4 squeaker of the year winners were members at some point. Nuff said
lilsquid, Goondude and Tachyon were DA members
Combine all these together on ONE VOX. and thats what I was a member of for 6 months.
-
I've been a squeaker for the past 7 years of my AH experiences....what ya tryin to say?
I feel a squeaker force uniting as we speak...better get ready for it. :t

This topic brings back memories. Watching film from 5 years ago I did squeek extremely bad, but I was only 11 years old. Remember being in 357th Death Dragons and Limboo and B49 telling me to stop talking, and going into furballs on range chat non-stop talking.

Now that I look back at this thread I realize how big of an idiot I was. Brings back memories though, and I loved every minute playing FlyAcesHigh II with all of you fine air simulator pilots. :) I started playing this game in the 4th grade and now I'm in 10th and I still love it. Thanks for flying with me guys. :salute

I thought all kids grew up smelling the dope in the hanger from the repairs and getting ride alongs from their dads friends. There was a computer back then, it was called E6B. It was finger powered after you programed the software in your head to use it properly. Hopefully you recharged it with a good meal and not scotch.
-
Have not flow prop planes in years but have my e6b on the shelf lol :aok. Thou i have recently got back into flying gliders.

Those properly skilled knew it could take the place of a tricorder.
