In the gaming industry, these cases are known as "*hit slingers" because the lawyers take these cases not with the expectation of winning but throwing a ton of *hit on the wall and see what sticks for future precedents.
The company I work for has been sued like this many times in the past and won every time. When I was still at Sony Online Entertainment, we got sued by Ben Stein because he was an utter failure as a father and expected us to do the parenting he failed to do. Ben Stein lost that one big time and considers Sony to be one of the reasons for the moral decay of this country. No joke, he really thinks that.

You can't deny that SOE holds the world record in screwing up games. *thinks SWG*.
Is Smedley still working at SOE though? SWG bombed under his 'lets make quick cash by turning it into a console game clone' policy.

Yes, Smedley still works at SOE but to blame him or SOE's failure is failing to realize that nothing could be done to the game without the express approval of LucasArts. It was LucasArts that forced the Combat Upgrade and it was LucasArts that forced the NGE, not Sony. Heck, the SOE community team for SWG couldn't make any posts without first getting the express approval of the LucasArts marketing weasels.
While SOE does share some of the blame for SWG, the lion's share falls squarely in the laps of LucasArts.

yea, i think it is. i call it the "shotgun approach".
in 2007, i got a notice i was being sued. it was for a snow plowing job i supposedly did in feb. 2004. a lady drove from pine hill nj to cherry hill nj(that's about 10 miles) in pretty much blizzard conditions. there was close to 2 feet of snow everywhere, and most roads were nearly impassable.
i called the guy i was plowing for, and he had gotten the notice too. along with every business owner in that little strip of stores, the company that owned the building they were in, and the people that owned the company that owned the building, and three other snow removal companies that might've done that lot.
to begin with, i knew i didn't do that lot, because i blew my front differential on the previous snow, and was still waiting for parts. the guy i used to work for represented me, so i didn't have to take time off from my day job.
the lady came in, and blew her own case out of the water, by showing pictures of where she fell. it was ice from the improper downspout. and it was on the sidewalk.
she got thrown out on everything, although the building owners did have to re-do all the downspouts.

I've filed a class-action suit against SAPP for scratching the paint on every plane I've ever flown. :neener:

you ouughta see the tow truck drivers in philly.
when there's an accident there, it's first come to tow the cars. the only requirement is that you're licensed there to tow.

In Houston each driver/tow company has a coin and a cop at the scene puts all the coins in a hat and draws how ever many are needed. So for a two car wreck you get 15 tow trucks and they pay no attention to normal traffic laws.

What a load of crap? That reminds me I need to go out & get some toilet paper? Ah screw it I will just wash my hands this time while I am on this bomb run on the strats.

WITH THE exception of the coin thing, it's the same in philly.
in nj, the state police take bids from companies. the company i used to work for had an area that covered about a 12 mile radius from the shop. we were in a "rotation", meaning that they'd call us for the accident on rt. 42, but if another happened a mile up the road, the next company in the rotation got that call, and so on.
most townships and boroughs do the same thing. the company i worked for lost their towing privledges in gloucester twp., because he had a very arrogant/violent black lady, who started throwing racial slurs at him, while her son went outside and called the police.
the hispanic cop walked in the front door, just as he lost control, and returned the racial slurs to the lady.
thing was her car had been impounded because the son was caught driving drunk........
