I remember those. They used to sell the individual Revell 1/72nd kits at the local grocery store for 99 cents. I seem to recall the Tony was the first I did after a Zero. The Spitfire was my favorite of those kits. Break the prop blades off to make it look like it was spinning. Skip landing gear. Fly em all over the back yard until the inevitable crash and fire in mom's garden :)

Influences on my WW2 history obsession from my youth :)
Combat! My best friend growing up always got to be the Sarge. My Dad's helmet had LT bars on it so I was stuck being the LT.

Rat Patrol! Of course the GI Joe Jeep had a 50 on the back too. Had to get the GI Joe Aussie to get the right hat for pretend Rat Patrol. Geez I'm going back in time here!

For the guys talking about this generation of kids. We weren't exposed to any violence back in my day!
Another favorite. "The Rifleman" with Chuck Conners. Most every problem solved with that lever action rifle. Of course there was a lesson taught each time too and it was always the last resort. But Lucas shot someone every show :)

LOL that's exactly what I used to do. My older brother always gave me a hard time for not putting the landing gear on them. :lol
I would find them at a department store we had in town called Gibsons back in the early 70s. I think I must have had the whole series. I'll never forget when I found the Ki-61 vs P-47 kit. It was the first time I'd seen or heard of the Tony. It was a great day for a small town kid with a huge interest in WWII aviation and very few places to find any info on it.

You just gave me flashbacks to working at CompUSA the day Pokemon Gold came out. And *I* was the one who had to tell the parents that it didn't arrive due to a manufacturer's error.
Most traumatic day of my professional life....
Lol I bet. :rofl

My favorite game of all time. I would LOVE to see what could have been done with this under today's technology. It is, for my money, still probably the greatest graphical adventure game ever made.
And I first played it before they had to change the name. :D
is this that game where u start off as some wizards slave...If so I could never even make it off the property down the mountain without the wizard finding me an having to start over.

You're thinking King's Quest III. This is an entirely different series.
In Hero's Quest/Quest for Glory I you're an adventurer (either a Fighter, Magic User or Thief) attempting to break a curse over a Baron, his family, and his lands. It was the first graphical adventure game to incorporate character-building and RPG elements.

For some reason that first picture reminds me of Dr. Quandry. Must be the old graphics. :)

oh thanks, for clearing that up for me. Did u ever get anywhere in kings quest? I kinda wish I could try it again see if I could get anywhere in it, as I was a youngster when I played it and I blame my age for why I could never get anywhere...that and donkey kong seemed more appealing at the time :D

Never read any of those. I got into the history non-fiction stuff really early. I don't know why but the WW2 bug bit early. I found the history section of the grade school library in 1st grade. The school book sales always had the Ballintine books on WW2 and I was able to get a lot of those. This particular book is the one that sent me over the edge on fighter pilots. I was the only kid to check it out in grade school and I always had it :)
There were a series of book like that on Midway, PT109, Battle of the Atlantic, Flying Tigers, Aircraft Carriers etc. Easy enough for a kid to read and plenty of photos to keep you paying attention. The same folks did books on sports too. I still have my one on hockey. Jean Béliveau on the cover. It was a good time to be a kid :)

I remember the opening of the show Superman. If you remember Superman standing straight, with his fists on his hips
while a bad guy unloads his pistol on supermans chest. When the pistol was empty the bad guy threw it at Superman.
Superman ducked the empty pistol. LOLOLOLOL Couldn't quite figure why Superman wasn't afraid of the bullets but
was afraid of an mty gun thrown at him. :O

he wasn't afraid of it, superman is just extremely lazy and dodging bullets would be too much effort but slipping a gun...eh he could do that without breaking a sweat :D
