I almost never say never, an exception to that is an atomic bomb.
We have said before that we'll never do an atomic bomb.

How many times did the B-29 used the H-bomb during WWII? How many tonnage of bombs did the B-29 dropped, not including the H-bomb, during WWII?

:aok

If you talk to a military historian, odds are the A-bomb isn't going to be as big a part of the B29 history as you might think. They would talk about the loadout and they would talk about the CFS and they would talk about the size of the aircraft and they would talk about the power to weight ratio and they would talk about the problems with the Wright powerplant, all as being BIG parts of the B29's early history........ Then they would mention that it also carried two atomic bombs.

Zero times. There were no hydrogen bombs at that time.

A B-29 is not a B-29 when its in aces high, currently we call the lancstuka in a few months we will have a faux b-29, a B-29 is a B-29 only when it is not in aces high

I believe a number of B-29's had to make emergency landings in Russia, as tehy could not make it back to US installations from their targets in Japan. After landing, the Russians returned the crews, and were sure to promise that the planes would be returned shortly. Several weeks later, they were, disassembled and in boxes. :noid
-
I believe the Tu-4 Bull was postwar as well. Off the top of my head, the first H-bomb was
detonated in 1952 and was a small building that couldn't be airdropped anyway :D

lol we never said we would give them back, and we never did :) 3 B-29's made emergancy landings in the USSR which was a violation of the soviet japanese non-agressiont pact, so we kept the planes, it was at an airshow that the three B-29's flew over head, then the allies (future NATO) just assumed that they were the three that landed there in the war, untill a fourth one appeared :devil
-
Yeah, those Russians sure were great guns when it came to non aggression pacts
I guess they learned from the Germans how to end one of those when they finally got the nerve
to attack a defeated Japan in 45.
-
ahem, we waited untill we finished our first war untill we started another, and we told japan that we were not renewing our non agression pact with them, so why dont you do research next time you post and say we learnt from hitler
-
Hmmm...I guess the Russians in Berlin did all those lovely things on their own initiative then?
The Russians attacked Japan because it was easy money. With friends like you guys, who needed
enemies. I don't recall the western Allies whining for the USSR to start a second front, maybe
you could enlighten me.
-
I'm really sorry.... but what are you wishing for in the wish list?

The Potsdam Declaration promised widespread wholesale destruction at the hands of both the US and the USSR if Japan did not surrender. Doesn't sound like it was completely unannounced to me.
-

It started as a B-29 discussion then turn to a troll fest and flaming.
-
He's Parlor Pink, leave him be, we won't change the thinking.

With my comment about the Yalta conference I was countering his poke at my country by showing him that yes, the US did ask Russia to start fighting japan, brown Barron, I don't understand the last few words of your post, are you agreeing with me or do you disagree?

I am agreeing with you. Russia made no assurances that they would remain nuetral to the Japanese, and eventually promised that they would in fact enter in to open hostilities. No cowardice or cheap trickery there. :aok
