Pacquioa vs Margorito Saturday Nov. 13th Cowgirl stadium. Well I'm not paying for it but go PAC. :rock Free UFC is on the same night I think so.
Free vs 40 bucks for so so fight.
-
I was wondering if this fight would turn out kind of lame. Until Margarito and his sparring partner started making fun of Manny's trainer. (He has Parkinson's) Those idiots were making total fools of themselves as they mimicked him in front of a camera.
Manny is going to DESTROY that dumb jerk. It's gonna be sweet.
<S> Melvin
Edited for bad choice of words.
-
so when is Money May gonna come out and fight? This saturday was originally meant between them.
Manny only agreed on this saturday's fight to salvage Margarito's career.
-
Mayweather will never fight Manny. He's too scared he'll get smashed.
The only thing that surpasses Mayweather's skill is his arrogance. I don't care if he never fights again. In my opinion he is a d-bag.

Good, guess I had my dates wrong.

I think the free UFC was a fee weeks ago in the UK. Unless there's another one if course. I'd rather watch reruns of UFC than boxing anyway.
-
Pacquioa is 5 lbs lighter then Margarito.
Manny will be fighting uphill due to a hieght problem.
PacMan is gonna smoke that guy w/in 6 rnds.
Most likely w/in 3.

The thing about UFC is this: As an ex-bartender, I've seen (partook in) enough of those type of fights that I really don't get excited anymore.
I enjoy watching the sweet science because the fighters are handicapped to using their fists. ( Sometimes elbows, sometimes heads.)
Every punk, juvenile delinquent that I run into is "Training" for UFC....... :rofl
This is a boxing thread, so piss off. Dumb bellybutton midget. :lol

I gave up on boxing when the first Lennox Lewis/Holyfield was rigged and Holyfield held the belt after losing 8 rounds. Boxing is still rigged for money and I refuse to give a penny to it.
UFC has long been a favorite and a hell of a lot more involved.

You've seen a triangle choke or a gogoplata in a bar fight? I highly doubt it. MMA is more then a glorified street fight, you have to know many different martial arts to even stand a chance. Thats why you highly decorated boxers like James Tony get dominated in the first round. Boxing is dead. Can you even name a current heavyweight champion? I sure as hell cant.
-
Boxing is dead.
it's alive and well, at least in Manny's weight class :aok

now if they did away with groping in UFC i might watch. :lol :lol :frown:
but seriously, who would want to see two half naked men hugging on the floor?

Sunfan and Masherbrum both have valid points.
The judging system has some serious flaws in my opinion. (I consider corruption a serious flaw)
Sunfan, I understand exactly what you are saying, and while I realize that MMA fighters are very dedicated to their craft, most ( if not all) would be decimated in a boxing ring. Being deprived of all the kicking, grappling, etc. would seal their doom. It's the same for a boxer entering the octagon. They train all their lives to keep feet on the floor, and now they are confronted with a totally new kind of fight. Two completely different disciplines.
Don't rule out boxing just yet fellas. I have a feeling that tonight's fight will pump some new life into the sport. I think that after Manny destroys his opponent, Mayweather just might have no more excuses left. If Mayweather still refuses to fight the winner of this match, he will be dead to the boxing world.

Exactly. UFC fighting is really little more then the kind of street fighting we were doing back in the 70's after the various kung foo movies became popular.
Everyone and their brother started fighting using a mix of the two.
YES UFC is more refined and the competitors skilled. but its really no different then your average street fighter was doing 30 years ago
-
in childhood, he missed classes to sell cigarettes on the street- augmenting their family income to buy food.
at age 14 he ran away to work as a welder by day, janitor by night- still sending money to support his impoverished mother and siblings.
at age 16, he fought his first professional fight, winning a purse of $40.00. until he went to hollywood and trained with freddie roach.

savor it while it lasts
this may be his last fight

I would put the best boxing has against the best MMA has. I would bet my life that it would end within 2 mins with the MMA completely owning the boxer. And that 2 mins is the boxer running for his life for 1:55

hahaahhaha! i didnt get it at first but yes it sounds like a womans parts! hahahahha!
anyway, i always heard it as cleto reyes, a brand of 8oz gloves.
pac-margarito is the next fight, last undercard just about done(*edit: rigondeaux?)
im really not sure hes even going to win this, hes fighting a 5'11" well trained big guy.
and bip, take boxing as a different sport. mma and boxing have their own draws. just depends on the fan.
i dont like seeing naked men grappling. real men fight on their feet and with fists. not on the ground groping private parts.
:aok

It was never supposed to be close to begin with, Pacquiao was heavily favored going into the fight, like as far as betting goes every $4.50 you bet on Pacquiao only paid $1.
sp? fix.
-
Big surprise. Wasn't expecting a KO but this fight was far more interesting than the Cotto fight.
Go Pacquiao!
-
pftt no surprise pac won it. I wonder if people are making much money betting on him it's beyond obvious that he's gonna win.
-

Oh yeah I'm sure they did, but like I said in my previous post betting on him to win really didn't pay much, you had to wager $45 on him to win just $10, so you needed to risk a lot of money on him to actually win anything substantial, like to win just $1000 you would of had to risk $4500, and I know I wouldn't of taken the chance on losing that kinda money on the chance something did happen and he lost.
On the flip side of the bet for ever $10 you bet on Margarito to win you would have won $30, at least these were the odds being given at the betting website I use.

Manny's running out of opponents
not to mention he's got 8 titles in 8 divisions
might as well step up to MMA :rofl

That would be interesting, but like they said he'd need at least 18 months to train, and a few warm up bouts before a big match up, but he definitely has the body type & speed to be a great light weight MMA fighter.
-
little guy fought someone 4.5 inches taller, 17 lbs heavier, with six inches more reach.
pac delivered 400 punches to the head. i know i cant even take half a dozen.
i doubt pac would touch mma, too different a fight/technique. its like a man. united soccer player moving to nfl football.
-
Pac is the Baddest dude on this planet pound for pound, not even Chuck Norris would go toe to toe with him, Chuck Norris would schedule his pap on the day he had to step in the ring with this guy just to get out of it........ :D

Margarito remained in the hospital on Sunday and promoter Bob Arum said the boxer has a broken right eye socket and will have surgery Tuesday in Texas.

The good thing about HBO fights are. They reair for free a month later! :rock GO PAC :rock
The youtube Margaritto prefight crap about Freddie Roach was very distasteful IMO. Watch out for karma Marggie, you can't take many more beatings like that. :old:

Mayweather needs to fight Pac plain & simple, like the article says, if he wants to cement his place in the boxing history books as something more then just a footnote this fight needs to happen. I think that Mayweather is afraid to fight Pac because he knows that with this fight he's not guaranteed to win and he's using the steroid thing as just an excuse.
-
pac already agreed to as late as 7 days before and right after the fight blood testing.
i think mayweather wants anytime up to and including right before the fight blood testing.
pac doesnt want that, last time blood got drawn from him was right before morales-1 fight.
nevada s.a.c. said they "lost" his blood sample so they insisted on drawing blood from him
during the time frame he was dehydrating (to make weight for weigh-in later in the evening.)
try not eating/drinking water a full day before you donate blood, you'll see how that feels yourself.
floyd wants to use that to his advantage. weaken pac before he gets into the ring.
or does he really believe that HGH, steroids, etc. works in as little as six days, and cant be detected
through blood test/urine/hair sample right after the fight?
there is no other explanation. floyd IS scared. now he's looking at 35 years jail in NV for felony assault, robbery/theft.
-
just for further proof that floyd is silly scared to lose his all-important zero loss,
he didnt bother making contract weight (http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=4485941) for his fight against the much smaller j.m. marquez.
greatness is not achieved by having a perfect record, but by never failing to rise each time one stumbles.
floyd will never get this. ;)

That would depend on what rules the fight were being fought by.
I suspect each would dominate in their own rules setting

Not necessarily, boxers are only trained in boxing, but MMA guys are not only trained boxers, their also trained in the martial arts. In MMA you basically have 2 kinds of fighters, you have guys that specialize in whats called "ground & pound" where they are good at submissions & fighting on the ground, then you have guys called "strikers" who are good at fighting on their feet.. Now I think that a striker from MMA would have a decent chance at beating a boxer, but I doubt that a boxer would have much of any shot at beating an MMA fighter.
