There were razorbacks in service until the last day of the war. Just because HTC hasn't gotten around to creating late model razorbacks does,t mean they should be ommited:D Then you will see me in there.

seadog, you're no slouch in most of the planes i see you fly. why limit yourself? come in, try it out and take it for what it is. while giving everyone every plane they ask for is nice, the spirit of the AVA is limited planesets and historic maps. enjoy it for what it is. if we just put in all the planes, then we would just have another MA.

having spent well over a decade now doing this I've flown every plane in the arena and all of the fighters in 1 v 1 training and practice. Sometimes you just get comfortable with one aircraft type especially if it is part of your online identity in a squadron. I don't get excited about flying much other than the P38 because it is like an old friend and it is part of my online self. It isn't because I do better in it. It is just my plane.
I check the setup for P38's and if they are included I try to go fly in the AvA. If they aren't I usually find something better to do. Life is too short to waste.

some of the cool things to me about flying the p-39, and the p-40.
different feel. they fly way different than my p-38. good break to the same old stuff.
the best thing.....getting back in my p-38 o doom, and listening to the sound of those two allisons humming along flawlessly.

I can totally relate to this. I havnt played for 10 years straight but 7 of the last 10 years and over that time ive flown almost every plane for at least 1 full day. I have different planes for different situations. I almost always bring up a Zeke for base defense, best plane for it IMHO. Beyond that Ive recently been trying different planes to get the feel for them. My biggest problem is after flying bish in MW for the last 2+ years ive almost always been on defense so ive almsot always flown the Zeke! The hardest part is being used to 1 plane, i always end up trying to fly every plane like a Zeke and it never works out LOL. Ive actually been flying the 38 a lot more in the last few weeks and doing decent in it. BigRats training session about a month ago in a 109 really helped me distinguish the difference between all the different planes and how they are flown. As long as i can remember to use the flaps the 38, or just about any other plane, can be flown like a Zeke just in a different way if that makes any sense to anyone LOL

when we change set ups it takes me roughly two nights to get 'used' to a different ride then I try to stick with it for the entire week. Nearly impossible because I'll switch to balance sides. But I'm having a blast trying everything I can and figuring out different things. It is wreaking havoc with me being any 'good' but that's a long term goal. Heck I may even try a jug next time it's offered.
-
Being good has nothing to do with it as long as your having fun. The best part about this arena is the ability to try new things. Not being on the defensive every time i log in has allowed me to do that. I do think base capture should be part of the AvA also but with the current town size and numbers it just doesnt seem possible. To bad ranger cant design a town setup more suited for the AvA. Id be up for learning the program if it is a possibility!

I've thought about doing some VH base taking for grins but it's going to take more than just little old me. I did try a solo jeep raid last night before the jg's got there. Didn't work out so well for my rat patrol :D

I would like to have class. New haircut, maybe?
What are you studying?

How to have class :D
It isn't taking
Actually just a boring Structural Engineering class.

I could use 10 50's for my poor lil ho attempts. Some make better use of a single cannon for their very low angle deflection shots :neener:
I apologize for that crass comment I made the other night grumpy. Didn't mean to offend you with my gutter humor. I'll like to keep being friendly opponents :salute

Well said indeed, I do fly all sorts of rides (don't mind being gently forced to in AvA). If there are going a pluthera of Pee47s I'd like to to see my Razorback in the lineup.
I'm also not so subtlely lobbying for one of the most produced D-22/23 model P-47 which was one of the most produced models. 1000's of them were produced vs the 130 or so M's. Maybe a Don Quixote cause but I'm trying.

Check out this link I just found Oakranger

That applied to any Allied fighter against Japanese birds :)

what type?
Light poles. The effects of wind, wind gusts, harmonics, live loads, dead loads, stuff like that. Long story so I'll give you the short version. My company acquired a program 6 years ago that does the calculations and such and spits the calcs out that you can build to. Only problem was I was the only one here that could figure out how to work it and had the contact to vet my work. So it became my job. I've worked with the same PE for 15 years or so and he's helped me on the more technical aspects when I needed some interpretation of the data. I figured it wouldn't hurt me to take some classes on the side so I didn't have to be wholly dependent on him when I had a question.
Now if I could turn the clock back 30 years I'd have done the military bit and gotten a degree in structural engineering. My buddy has 50 seals and makes bank sitting at home and stamping other peoples work. I think I could handle that between sorties :D
