So you want to dogfight relying on radar, that in reality most planes did not have?

we do have night, just not in the MA. i have been in plenty of night events. I think the idea of landing lights is awesome for the AvA it would be so great with no icons and for night fights, it would be sick. +1000000

Good point.

Also how many WWII actually had lights?

it would be nice if I could turn down my interior lights at night.

They had landing lights... for landing, in friendly territory.  Some had formation lights so they actually could find each other to form up at night.  It's not like you would fly with them on all the time.

Turn off auto-trim and auto-pilot and I think you have no interior lights.

Landing light, sure. But seems to me that he is asking for nav lights, strobes, and the beacon which most aircraft did not have.

we don't need it in dog fights, you can still see just not as well (oh and don't forget about icons they will help). we'll just need radar for navigating the map. +1000 to night time in MA, +500 to lights for night ops.

there were plenty of night (and early morning) operations in the war, it would be so cool to see it in the game. :x

from what I understand ( But what do I know)  Landing lights are big spotlight type things, Such as the ones in the hurri's wings, the green and red lights on the wingtips are nav lights are they not?

Landing lights are pretty much headlights that are pointed down to see the runway, Nav lights are the red and green ones on the wing tips, strobes are thous really bright white flashing lights on the wingtips, and a beacon is a single flashing red light on top (sometimes bottom as well) of the aircraft.

Here is a diagram:

Wing tip/ Landing lights
For night opps, and no icon events.

Your lights will be off either way because it will make your aircraft easy to spot.
We had night before in MA, it did not work out.

Landing lights would be very cool. But if the aces highs night would be pitch black then they would be very useful. But the you couldnt see the enemy.

Actually you can.  It's hard but you can see them.  Try it with no icons sometime.  Not everybody's cup of tea but I enjoy it.  Especially when I'm in the weeds and I can see the guy above searching desperately for me.  Not so much fun when it's the other way around :D

Nav lights arnt just for night use......
Most all other Flight Sims have landing or nav lights (the green and red enabled.)
There are various benefits.
One would be immersion for night oops.

Also if you chose to fly in an arena with limited or no icons, or are participating in a special event that has limeted or no icons its would be beneficial as if you lose sight of you wing man you can ask him to give you a quick flash or blink them on or off real quick.

It would be a nice option to have enabled if it were made available to utilize in the correct scenario or environment. I see several AC skinned with Nav lights and landing light why not make em work.
