Once again... searching found no results for this thread...

After a task group has been annihilated, PTs should not be allowed to spawn. As we have it now, after all ships are destroyed, the task group still "floats" around able to spawn PTs. Usually this means they turn the group right into an enemy task group for easy(ish) sinkage. Although this isn't a huge PROBLEM, let's think about it realistically... Where are these boats coming from?

Question: Is it a problem at all that PT's do spawn? And if you think about it realistically... where are the PT boats coming from even if the CV is still up? CV's didn't carry flottillas of PT boats anyway.

then why have them randomly spawn in the middle of the ocean anyways or even next to its attached CV group? i say let the PTs spawn until the CV sinks or allow for PTs to shore spawn like the LVTs do after the CVs gone...

I guess I wasn't specific enough. I'm talking about PTs spawning even after ALL boats in a task group have been sunk. PTs spawning with a floating nothing. There's no indication to anybody where this invisible spawn point moves for the next <10 minutes.

In no way shape or form would this add to gameplay.  Lusche, as always, is being nice in his explanation.......  Me, not so much.  

If PT's can't spawn after the cv sinks there will be less deaths..... And deaths are actually why we play, no?  

The cv sinks and a few LVTs and PTs try one last ditch effort.

Who ever ups a PT until the cv sinks anyways?

That's the thing right there.....  After the last destroyer goes down, 5 guys fly around hoping for somebody to up a PT.........  And I go both ways on that... Love the vulch, and love the unsuspecting stick 1000 feet off the deck.   :D

Just think of them as powered lifeboats and shoot them.  :t

PTs with no CV= extra time to kill another CV in a ship to ship fight... seen it happen before. 30 PTs up and gun the DDs and CA down and rocket/torp the CV

By this logic enemy task groups should be disabled too, as it is neither marked nor fixed.

Yet you do not give any reasons behind it.  Tell us why please?  How does this ruin your gaming experience?

Yes. Why not? There is no real reason, they don't hurt gameplay or anything. If CV is sunk, the battle is over, the PT'S won't change that and without air support they will get slaughtered anyway. It's just a little fun for both the PT guys as well as the planes hunting them.

Do realize though..... My -1 is simply because it would take away from both sides of the same coin... The guys that still want to up, as well as the guys still wanting to kill.

I am usually all for realism in out cartoon world and it certainly wouldn't be a terrible change if ever implemented, I'm just one of those people that will up the PT after the cv is down to try and kill a plane or two before the Typhy comes and blows me up. 

I'll tell you this too... As you develop more and more in this game, you'll start seeing more and more things that are just totally unrealistic.  What we have to wind up doing is sacrificing some of the realism for "ease of play."   :old:

If DDs are still up, and you run right through the enemy TG, the results may be the same.

 

I said the TG isn't marked.  PTs, once they start spawning, are easy to track.

Try this next time.  Up a PT boat of your own and kill the bad guys as they spawn.

Won't be implemented anyway, so not much point discussing this anymore.

And FYI, I have played the game off and on for 6 years. More off than on, granted. About two years of subscription time. Also, I've been on "both sides of the coin." The whole point of this was to see whether people cared about it. From a realism standpoint and even a gaming standpoint seemed logical to shut the TG down once boats were all sunk. Not really a big deal ultimately. I'll use my rank to take control of the alive TG and steer it away. It's what I do all the time. I know how to circumnavigate the issue, but should we really have to? But again, won't be implemented. No interest from anyone.

You're starting to sound angry..... Don't be. And to be quite honest, I do think your idea is picking up people. In the last 14 hours I may have changed my mind completely...... Provided it's all destroyers sunk, your wish may not be bad at all. It actually would make sense.... Same with an airfield, or V-Base. No way to up, no upping.

I'm +1 now.

Man I love vulching PT's after the carrier is dead, why would you want to take that away?

Same for LVT's if your doing a base defence, man those are virtually free kills. Why stop the fun?
