78.9 tons (standard)
Length: 32.76 m

Speed: 43.8 knots
Range: 800 nm at 30 knots
Complement: 24–30
Armament: 2 × 533 mm torpedo tubes (4 torpedoes)
1 × twin 20 mm C/30 cannon, 1 × single 20 mm cannon
1 × 37 mm Flak 42 cannon
Schnellboot or S-boot ("fast craft") is the designation for Motor Torpedo Boats of the German Navy since 1932. In particular it applies to that type of Boat that saw service during World War II. The Schnellboot was then called an E-boat by the Allies; it is commonly held that the "E" stood for "Enemy" [1][2], but it is possible that it stood for "Eilboot" ("hurry boat").[3][4]
The S-boot was better suited to the open sea and had substantially longer range (approximately 700 nautical miles) than the American PT boat and the British Motor Torpedo Boat (MTB). As a result the Royal Navy developed many later versions of MTBs using the Fairmile 'D' hull design
it was also faster

Do me a favor, load a PT with 100% fuel, then try to run down the tank. After that, try to run any GV out of gas...
cya in a few months :)

E boats would be a big step up, however I question if enough users would ever partake to truly make it worth the dev's time?
Also Eboats should be shore based not Task Group Based like our current PT.
Last I think the biggest problem with any kind of boat, sub, ship, in Aces High is going to be the time factor.
In SH3,4 etc you have a time compression you can use to turn that 3 week cruise to get into position into 20 min or so of in game time. In AH everything is live all the time, and needs to stay that way.
So who is going to spend 4 hours of time getting their Eboat into patrol area? Not counting the time they actually spend patrolling. Only to have some plane drop a bomb on them and send them back to the tower after ???? hours trying to accomplish something.
Its not that many of us wouldn't love to see it, including HT himself.
Its trying to figure out a way to do it that doesn't totally break immersion without breaking something else.

........another option would be to allow the PT Boat to pull a couple of water skiers.
McHale towed his crew around when Old Leadbottom was not around. :D

Just tossing out a strawman here….
What if there was a mobile spawnpoint that randomly dropped E-Boats within 15min radius of the TG no matter where it was. It would give the PT’s something to do. ;) AND it would pretty much solve the “Hide the CV on the other side of the map” trick.

I think a Tribal Class (British) Corvette escort should be the next boat added to AH. They are some of the most over-looked heroes of WWII.

Uhm, I'm no expert on Navy things.. but weren't the Tribal class big destroyers in WW2, displacing over 2,000 tons? :headscratch:
You sure you don't mean the Flower class?

Tribal sure looks alot bigger :)

Almost every post this guy has is in the wishlist. :noid

It's a darn good thing too, because the rest of us would never have asked for all the stuff he has :rofl

I'm eagerly anticipating his "WE NEED THE B-29 IN AH!" thread. :devil

Was doing a little surfing tonight and found this on Hyperscale.

+1 on this - the additional 20mm's would make nice AA. I kind of like the idea of having a mobile spawnpoint that puts you near an enemy CV, but the problem I see with it is that it could be used to LOCATE the enemy CV at any time. What I would suggest is that if a RECON place sights an enemy CV, then spawn points become active in that sea sector for some period of time. It provides yet another use for some kind of recon ride in AH.

I'm no Royal Navy expert but I think the "typical" displacement was just a little larger, around 2300 tons with a WWII era operational loadout, so you're right on!

+1 for the E-Boat! +1 for more PT gameplay! +1 Aces High Navies!
Here is 1:49 seconds on schnell boot 130, and it's restoration, from the BBC.

Good point and interesting idea.
So the recon (hmmm PBY?) could "Mark" the CV somehow like a designator and the mobile spawnpoints would become active for maybe 30 minutes then disable unless "marked" again?

Just to make this really realistic we could add the shkaval (i think) rocket torpedo, the russians fought in WWII didn't they..... J/K
I do think it would be nice to have a prayer against a CV with a PTish type boat. There is a lot of fun in two CV groups colliding into one and and another with dudes in the manned guns. There could be more fun if you had a quick boat with guns long enough to reach a CV without risk a whole group. Alas nothing in this world is free.....

Something like that - pull the trigger on a recon ride and it takes a photo of the CV group if you are close enough (dar ring range?) - once a successful recon photo has been done, have a spawn point activate from the nearest port or GV base with water access to a point someplace in that sector (and yes, I kind of like the 30 minutes time frame myself). If the recon plane hangs around and takes another photo, have the spawn point update (which gives a purpose both to having the recon plane hang around, and for CV defenders to up and kill it).
Having PTs spawn in unknown and unexpected locations would provide for the 'surprise' factor that makes it possible for a small torpedo boat to attack a much larger vessel with success. As it is now, everybody can see on the map where the PTs will spawn from and the CV group commanders just avoid those points.

I would like it if we get the PBY. and the spawn is only active as long as the PBY is in the area. {with in vis of the CV}

I'd like to see other recon planes besides the PBY - if a 'recon' system were implemented, you could easily expand it to having effects over land as well (finding strat sites instead of having them just appear on the map for everyone to see for example).
I still think the spawn should be active for a period of time and have the spawn fixed so that the CV can run away from there once they know they have been sighted. If the PBY hangs around, they can 're-sight' the CV and generate a new spawn when the timer on the old one has expired. Having the spawn just disappear when the PBY gets shot down is a bit too 'gamey' for my taste. The recon data that the PBY has gathered is still valid for a period of time (ie - the CV is STILL near that location), so it would seem to me that having the spawn point open for a time period would be preferable. I think it would be easier to program as well - fixing a point and opening a spawn on a timer would be easier than trying to keep a moving spawn point open based on the location of one player object (PBY) vs another player object (CV).
