Yeah.. it's getting old now. You know, my personal opinion is exactly that... my personal opinion. HiTech Creations is NOT going to change their moderation practices because of only my opinion, so to blame me personally for a thread getting locked is simply ignorant. Yes the thread was locked, but that was probably due to what the OP said in that final post (of which I never saw because it was deleted by HiTech Creations). I reported only one single post containing one of the more gory of the pictures that were posted in that thread. At that point it is HiTech's decision as to how to handle it (if at all).
For the record I did not care about the thread getting locked or not, I simply did not see how posting bloody corpses of dead animals was beneficial to an Aces High community bulletin board. Instead of slamming me, calling me names, and even resorting to messaging and emailing threats and obscenities to me you guys might have considered explaining to me your side of the story and maybe I would have understood better. My intent was not to start a riot on the forums, and the fact that you have encouraged that to happen only makes you look more ignorant.
HiTech's posting rule #6 specifically forbids "generally offensive text, images, links, etc." but the question is what constitutes "generally offensive?" I would take that to mean offensive to the majority of HiTech Creation's staff. They've made it perfectly clear that scantily clad obese women are "generally offensive" and since I find pictures of carcasses laying in pools of blood to be even more so - well I reported it. It's that plain and simple. Isn't that why the reporting system even exists?
Yes, you can argue that you have the First Amendment rights to free speech (actually, that's not even necessarily accurate as this is a privately owned message board, but let's play along for the time being) but that also gives me the right to state my opinions on what you have to say. In my opinion, you should be extremely happy that I was able to say what I said, because it also gives you the right to say what you have to say as well. Now the fact that HiTech has NOT deleted the pictures I have problems with nor have they locked other threads with similar images that have not gotten out of hand tells me that they don't agree with me about pictures of dead animals being "generally offensive" and that I can live with. I didn't truly expect them to change their policies simply because of my opinion.. but I still felt that I had an opinion that needed to be heard.
I should also add that it is not hunting in general I have issues with. While it's obviously not my cup of tea, I have no problems whatsoever with going out and shooting deer, ducks, rabbits... whatever wild animals that can legally be hunted... ESPECIALLY if the meat (and other parts) get put to good use. I think it's a great idea to donate the extra meat to the communities that need it the most and I definitely encourage that, but I'll state it again - I don't like looking at pictures of dead animals with bloody wounds and in some cases with their internals hanging out in the open. It's not that I'm squeamish, I just don't see the point in it. I'd rather see pictures of all of the meat being donated to feed the hungry.. or the skins being donated to warm the cold.. or perhaps even the body after having been properly prepared by a taxidermist.. or at least cleaned up.
Perhaps I am the only one in the entire world that has this belief. Perhaps I'm totally in the wrong here... or perhaps not! Regardless, does my one little opinion actually deserve all of the obscenities, threats, and immaturity I've had to endure over the past several days? I really don't think so.
So lets try this again. I will note that any threats or profanities I receive will be reported to HiTech Creations (again) so please stay out of me email and PM. If you want to talk about this in a way that HiTech Creations allows, then by all means feel free to add to this discussion. If you can't post without breaking the rules then perhaps you're better off staying out of it. And this includes you, Mr. Dunn.
As far as I am concerned, unless it is discussed in this thread then I am done with this topic.
*Note to the moderators: If you feel that my post might be the catalyst of a thread that could get out of control, then please consider locking this topic but not deleting my post. I feel as if I make some very valid points here that need to be read by those who have taken what I have had to say so close to heart that they felt it necessary to break forum rules and even possibly some laws to get their 'point' across.

"Generally offensive" pertains to the majority of viewers. You sir are in the vast minority.

Yeah.. I'm getting old now and enjoy writing novels.

Only Captain Renault from Casablanca would be "shocked, shocked" to find pictures of dead animals in a hunting topic. If pictures of dead animals bother you, you should stay out of hunting threads. It's that simple. Going in there and posting only amounts to a troll and you certainly filled the boat with that one.
People aren't posting their hunting pics for you and they have to assume you'll have the sensibility not to look at them if you don't like them. They are posted to share with friends, not to shock and disgust. The morbidly obese swimwear pics are posted to shock and disgust and they are interjected into other threads for that purpose.
Our business is not that different than any other with the standards we try to maintain. Personally I've been to lots of places, mostly eateries, where I can find a whole cork board full of pictures of people and their dead deer or maybe pictures on the walls. I have yet to visit one with the morbidly obese swimwear pics. Maybe I just don't go to the right places.

agreed.
i understand your opinion, and i respect it, however know that a good majority of the users on this board are hunters or have hunted before. they are fine with the images that are posted, and therefore HTC does not delete them. i do not believe that such images should be reported to the mods.

The pictures were not supposed to be beneficial to aces high, that's why they were posted in the O' club. If you did not care if the thread gets locked or not then why report it? So hopefully nothing happens? If you don't care and only wanted to express your opinion there are plenty of other threads to express your opinion in without trying to get it locked. Yes trying to get it locked, you didn't like what you saw and you wanted everybody to stop rather than just going elsewhere. That's my opinion :aok

So... you willingly eat meat. But you're offended by pictures of the process which puts said meat on your plate. :headscratch: :headscratch:
That's like saying. "Yea, I'm a fan of the NFL, but watching football games offend me."
And trust me, beef and pork and poultry packing plants are A LOT messier and gory than a hunter dressing out a single animal in the field.
-
Pyro has it right.
You might have a point if someone posted a thread that said "check out my new kitchen" with photos of bloody dead deer.
-
Why exactly are you trying to force your opinion on others instead of just staying away from the posts you find offensive?
-
You hit the report button? AND you admit you hit the report button? Doesn't you acting on behalf of HTC for some perceived rule violation in fact violate the rules itself?
I find this thread offensive to my intelligence. Should I report it?

Is much different than the tone of these (which can’t be quoted b/c the thread was locked):
Yay yet another dead corpse for me to look at I'm so proud of you.
Hrmm... I wonder how fast Skuzzy would ban me if I posted a picture of a dog that had been shot and killed and dripping blood from its mouth...
I'm not.. I'm just saying that I don't like seeing dead corpses of ANY animal - especially one that has been shot and is bleeding everywhere. I don't care if it was hunted or not, I just don't feel that it has a place here.
It really surprises me that more people don't speak out about pictures like this. I guess in their mind it's all OK because we eat deer. It's 'accepted' because hunting is a big industry in this country and a big hobby for a lot of people. Well whatever.. I just personally don't care to see these pictures and I personally don't understand the need to SHARE these pictures. I also have a strong feeling there are many others out there that think the same thing, but don't have the gonads to say anything about it.
If pictures of fat women can be banned for being "Generally Offensive" then I don't see why this should get a pass…
I will say this, I have a feeling that whatever was posted last in that thread is what got the thread locked, and not your objections. But you must admit that you would have liked to see it all shut down, just like all of your posts implied. You were unwilling for Flench to post his pictures because you didn’t agree with him. That is not in the spirit of compromise and being broad and accepting. If you don’t like it, you just shouldn’t look. Period.
I agree with you that there is no place for threats to be made in your direction. I too feel that such threats are a mark of ignorance and I know HTC will not tolerate them. However, everyone poking at you playfully about being “offended” is just a colorful way of disagreeing with you. You just have to grin and bear it for a while (believe me, a while is very short with the ADD internet crowd) and maybe even play back or drop it. Judging by the change in tone from this thread compared to your previous posts, I dare say that the playful jesting may have moved you to the center a little bit and made you more accepting.
I was the one that started quoting very good posts that you made and saying that I was offended and that the thread should be locked. It was a joke. I would submit to all that after this thread is done, that joke is old and Tigger should be considered what he is, a valuable member of the AH community. Don’t keep hounding him for nothing. The guy at least had the nuts to come in here and try to explain his opinion rather than just back down like a wuss.
That’s my opinion on the matter and my attempt to correct something that I may have had a part in letting get out of hand. For anything that went beyond a simple joke and turned into threats, I apologize if I inadvertently had a part in that. That was not my intention.

Usually Texan eateries is where those pictures are taken. So that is not a valid argument.

I don't think you deserve threats, but the thing about having an opinion is that if you wish to make it public - then to a degree you must weather the consequences.

In no way in my replies to you did I mean for it to be taking as a threat .That was not my intent .
It's just that I have never had some one to come into one or any of my thread's and post there opinion quite
like you did and I got offended by it and in my ignorance started throwing profanities at you .
I do apologize for that sir and did get the boot for it .The Med's I have to take for my liver played a roll in that too but I
just started a new SSRI that suppose to help with my decision making process.
I understand your point of view on the subject and respect your opinion and posts in the community
but it never crossed my mine that my photos mite be offensive to another ,being a life long hard core sportsman like I am that invole's a lot of money , time and work.
You have to understand that some hunter's go a hole life time and spend a lot of money to kill deer or catch fish like I do .
I will try to improve on my video work where they will not seem to be so offensive to others and maybe make my thread title's more
clear on what I am going to post .I never thought about the blood and so on when I posted them .The hole thing got out of hand for nothing .
I seen a post not long ago to another that I really liked and will be using when thing's like this comes a long in the future .
Hope he don't mind me posting it .
(When faced with any choice in life; always ask yourself "Does this improve my situation?")
(If the answer is 'yes,' proceed.)
(Often times, especially when angry, the answer will be 'no.)'
(You'd be surprised how significantly such a simple question can impact your decision making process.)
(Give it a try.)

HiTech's posting rule #6 specifically forbids "generally offensive text, images, links, etc." but the question is what constitutes "generally offensive?" Ok I missed the other thread entirely, but am I to understand that you're offended by pictures of dead animals that have been hunted, but were posted in a thread that was clearly about hunting???
If you find things like that offensive why were you even looking in that thread to begin with? My wife doesn't like movies or shows that have scary faces in them, so you know what, she doesn't watch them, it's really that simple.

I already have 2 in the freezer, I make a lot of deer jerky. The jerky only lasts me about 3 days on average, and I make 5 pounds at a time. I havent cooked up any steaks yet, but will be doing so soon.
