I never thought I'd become excited by this sport of Spandex and shoulder pads but you can't help but get caught up in the atmosphere around the area. So, Go Ducks! Looking forward to the game tomorrow.

Too bad neither team will be playing the best in the nation.

I'd say Auburn will win it, if nothing more than actually seeing their play calling (or maybe just rooting for the conference  :devil ). Should be a good game. I have the chips and dip ready and the bottles of Ski right over here.  :aok

i watched Espn morning show with Skip bayless and the rest of the Crew, i found it refreshing the real excitment they have and showed during the show, it's just a toss up to who wins and to see Skip Bayless excited over anything in itself is a Miricle lol  Our towns just been buzzin the past few days, the flags are up, the parties have started already, Good Luck to BOTH teams, the first few minutes are going to be intense for all players, It's the Big Dance

One sister is going to the National Championship...
The other one went to the Rose Bowl... (She goes to TCU, mechanical engineer... She's smarter than me... :()

What the hell?!

Git 'em, Ducks!  I'm a Beaver, but Golly-geen us Oregonians need some national love! :D

Plus the Beavers had a less than stellar year...  And I'm feeling left out...

A couple of my U of O buddies know those cheerleaders.  Needless to say I'm quite jealous.

sounds like you need to road trip up to your buddies place and get a first hand report for your brethren of the board.

Consider it a mission ;)

Ahhhh to be in Eugene right now.  I love the place.

GO DUCKS!!!

Yeah great defensive game going, I've got $ on Auburn so hoping they can win by at least 3, but who could have seen a 11-9 score at almost half time, the predicted total score for this game was 73 and I doubts it's gonna get anywhere near that.

And sweet theres an Auburn TD, Newtons coming alive.

Newtons not having a great game...and he's still scarey. Think auburn will win but I'm not rooting for either...just rootiing for a good close exciting game.

Congrats to BOTH teams for great seasons!!!!

and to RPM.....uhhhh.....TCU isn't playing so they aren't the best team in the nation.  Sorry ;)

If Auburn just decides to make #13 for Oregon look like a fool they will smoke his butt easily.

Last quarter now....right now it's no where near the expected over under points total...I wonder if Vegas knows something we don't know about the 4th quarter.

Yeah I'm glad I stayed away from the over under, my Auburn -3 bet is still looking good though, Go Auburn.

Auburn has just completely shut down the Ducks run game tonight.

Yep but for a couple of mistakes by both teams this is a completely different game
Title: Re: Go Ducks!
Post by: trax1 on January 10, 2011, 10:57:39 PM
Man I really need Auburn to hold them, or if the Ducks do score I need them to get the 2pt conversion to send it to OT, I can't have Auburn win by just 2.
Title: Re: Go Ducks!
Post by: trax1 on January 10, 2011, 10:59:18 PM
Thank god they got the 2pts, now I need Auburn to just win, I'll take a win by 3 for a push.

Damn, half a yard, I needed that TD for the win, I'll take push.

At least they didn't line up Newton in the dang shotgun and try to have him jump over the middle.

When they brought Newton back out I was like hell yeah lets go for it, but then he just kinda half tried to get it in, well hell anythings better then a loss so I'll take the push and my money back, but man that would have been sweet if he had just been able to have it cross the end zone before that knee came down, so close.

Having watched Oregon in the rosebowl last year.....and the game auburn played last year in the bowl series.

I expected a better game.  Not really impressed by either team <shrugs>

Congrats to both for making it this far!

Better game than I expected....suburbs defensive line dominated this game all night and Oregon just couldn't figure it out.

I was a bit let down by this game as well, neither team showed up.

Although, I suppose that's how it looks when two evenly matched teams play each other.  I was pretty amazed at how many turnovers there were...  Pretty sloppy play for #1 and #2...
Title: Re: Go Ducks!
Post by: trax1 on January 11, 2011, 02:35:32 AM
Yeah the number of turnovers were a bit surprising, I think in the 1st quarter alone there were 3 int thrown.  Everyone was expecting this game to be a battle of offensive lines, but when it was game time it was an all defensive game.

Playing a Whiny 10 team and squeaking by doesn't count for being the best team in the nation...you gotta beat some real opponents to get that ranking.

I didn't understand any of it except for the commercials and the cheerleaders.

No, neither offense showed up.  I expected Oregon's run game to be ruined by Auburn, but I expected the game to be high scoring, or at least higher than 22 and 19...

It was a fairly boring game up until the end.

The offenses were playing fine. The defense was outstanding in that game.

i was expecting more offense from both sides, i feel the field had alot to do with it, players were slipping all the time

I don't disagree that the defense was outstanding, but the number of times that quarterbacks were throwing into double or triple coverage (or directly at a defender) was pretty staggering for #1 and #2 teams.  No one seemed settled, not that I blame em.  Playing in the national championship game would be incredibly stressful, the dropped kick return right at the beginning of the game was a pretty good show of that.

This was probably one of the most evenly matched games I've seen in a long time, though.

Auburn hadn't won a National Title in over 50 years and Oregon never has before. You can imagine the stresses involved. It doesn't surprise me that they were making the bad choices. If the only possibility for a reception equalling yardage is someone in triple coverage, you're going to take it: take a chance.

So... right, the offenses didn't play well.

What?  No, you don't risk throwing the ball to triple coverage for a few yards, there is a HUGE risk for a turnover.  If you have no options, you either tuck and run, or you throw it away.

Yeah I don't care how long it's been since you've won a national title, you don't go making poor play making decisions like throwing into triple coverage, like SectorNine50 said, you tuck & run, or throw it away, otherwise your throwing the game away, literally, the only possible reason you might start trying things like that is if your down to the last few minutes of the game and you need big plays to win it.
