Ok so when i move the rpm lever on my controls, the lever on the bottom left side of the cockpit in the Dr-1 moves. i know the prop is fixed pitch so it cantbe for rpm. A friend told me it is for adjusting the mixture, but power does not change when i move it around at altitude. So my question is what is this lever for and does it really do what it is meant for?
-
Oh no! Not the "Wings Stay On / Wings Fall Off" lever. :O

Sorry, no idea what it actually does, will have a look when I get home.

Your question was answered!
thats the fuel mix.
I too am confused as to whyt you're going to take it somewhere else when it has been answered.
-
I get it now. He's asking why the mixture handle actually moves when you press the keys that adjust rpm in the WW2 birds. Anyway, I tested it out. It doesn't do anything, but it's fun to play with if you like moving levers.
It's funny because the rpm keys don't move the mixture handle in the Camel, just the Dr1.
-
well that sucks because that could give someone a real edge in a fight if they know how to operate the mixture properly. more power at altitude and the option to take less fuel up when doing a sortie to name a few.

thats to real for this game :furious  :bhead :cry

Sorry Der Jude, I meant to get back to you sooner.
As has been said it's the mixture control lever but appears to have no in game function. As far as I'm aware the mixture control is automatic in AH, so you wouldn't see any benefit by doing it yourself.
I found a brief description on the operation of the mixture in these early aircraft for you, but as olds442 says, it would be too real for most.

Seriously... Why participate in a game you bad mouth?
-
Thats an interesting read Sid. Sounds like if it were that realistic we would have alot of complaints from people losing their engine power in basic flight. Maybe its better that its totally automatic. I guess the only question left to answer is why the designers of the Dr-1 in the game felt it necessary to program a useless lever?

HTC has done a incredible job creating this with grapics, plane set, realism, flight characteristics everything! But NOTHING is perfect in this world unfortunately, so u just gotta deal with you haveSeriously... Why participate in a game you bad mouth?
please quote me where it states I bad mouth this game

I was agreeing with you. Sorry it wasn't clear.

Gentlemen-It's all good...after coming to AH from FA,I started in WWI and pondered the mysterious
'yellow gauge' in the Dr.1 (fuel) lmao. Prefer the DVII myself..."Longbow";if you're watching--- :salute

the d7 has the lever too?
-
On the D7 that's the throttle.
-
Der Jude-any cockpit you sit in will hold secrets and mysterys...however...if you want to stay alive
in this game try not to fixate on your panel as much. Look outside and check your 6 always;someone
will be there stalking...
Granted, the Dr.1 can be a nasty wasp killing machine in capable hands, but the DVII gives you a more
stable gun platform to fire from (1.lower wing loading 2.no gyroscopic procession due to a rotary engine).
No one,and no plane is perfekt :old: (grin)
Look outside, and good flying to you,Sir :aok

Follow the convo young man, you clearly didn't the first time.

This guy said this, which I was tired of hearing from him.
thats to real for this game :furious  :bhead :cry
Then this guy said this, which satisfied my intentions.
Your beginning to annoy me, go play call of duty like others yor age and tell me how realistic that is
Being pleased that he said this comment for me, I agreed with him saying:
Seriously... Why participate in a game you bad mouth?
Then you said to me,
Follow the convo young man, you clearly didn't the first time.
So now I ask you,
:headscratch: How was that not following the conversation?
