Never saw combat in WWII.

Fixed. But yeah, never saw action in WWII and even if it did, it would've been too late in the war to account for much of anything. It would be much like adding the Ta-152 only much more :headscratch: going on.
Beauty of a plane, though.
-
Fixed.
Did it ever see combat post-war? I thought it was basically rushed out of service to make way for newer jets.

Flying around, and actually shooting at things are two different things, the F8F was "Deployed" as well, but never saw combat, even though it was in active service

It never saw combat in any shape or form in WW2. Operational sorties are not combat sorties.

AH is not only a WWII game simulator.
So this plane could be implemented.

there are requirements for planes to be added to AH and once of those requirements is that the plane saw and engaged in combat.

It would probably be perked at the same rate as the 262, fly about the same speed at MA furball levels as the Tempest. Have a turn rate about the same as the 262. Guns between the two in destructive ability. And flown just as timidly as many fly either of the latter 2 perk rides and as infrequently.
Speed+Power+Guns =|= better cartoon pilot :airplane:
We need a lawndart emoticon....... :neener:

There are things to research and suggest other than ever later, even post war now, American stuff.
Look at some of the early war American stuff that we don't have yet if you really want only American stuff, but keep it in the war.

There are two main requirements for aircraft to be included in the game. They are as follows:
1. Must have seen combat in WW2
2. Flown in squadron strength in WW2
I don't know how many times people have to repeat this, but it would be nice if people would do a little extra research before requesting something on the wishlist.
-
ive been wondering this....did Hitech ever give a official list of requirments a plane has to meet to have a chance to be in the game?
or is the "squadron strength"
"saw combat"
"numbers"
etc thing, something you guys all came up with and use as an unofficial checklist for every aircraft?
-
There are 3 criteria.
Saw combat
unit strength (i.e. at least staffed a full unit, rather than 1 plane saw service with 1 unit)
Production models. No prototypes.
These are things HTC has commented on many years back and they have become the official criteria for future additions of the game. They didn't lay them down as a list, but they have since been condensed down into a list.
-
Krusty,
With this most recent generation of players I'm starting to think Hitech needs to change the name of this forum. Wishlist without any qualifiers is like daddy forgetting to place a password on the free adult channels. Wishes like this aren't much different than simply wishing Hitech would add the following perk MODs to the game:
Smart Munitions.
100% no miss aimbot gunsights.
600 second Invisibility cloaks.
600 second 550mph engine power ups.
Deflector sheilds.
Insta-teleportation.
60 second Auto-AI-Super-ACM-Pilot<---antiGrizz technology.
60 second Invicibility sheilding.
600 second unlimited ammo.
Unlimited vulgar language exclusions.
Sounds like WoW.......

HTC should make a topic stating this, then have it stickied. for those who werent on the forums when he said this.
it would stop many headach causing wishlist posts. (including my own sadly)

Any search anywhere will turn up these criteria. It's a very common part of the forums and the community as a whole. If you can't find it, you weren't looking. HTC doesn't need to make it a sticky (and you'll find they rarely make such declarations regardless)

I certainly searched and didn't find any official word from HTC. The community itself certainly spouts out this criteria in every turn...and just like you, says it's "the official word". While the criteria itself makes sense IMO, I've yet to see a comment from HTC regarding it.

Where did anyone say anything about adding only American stuff?

I can think of at least one counter-example to that. ;)

If you're talking about the 152, it passes that test. I would have mentioned Squadron Strength though. :aok

The problem seems to me that you end up looking like you are spamming the wishlist forum with anything you can find, hoping it will stick.

Now telling him that just spoiled the fun...........or did it have the opposite effect? :uhoh

By far the most beautiful plane from the 1940's :aok
But it has no place in AHII

I try :salute But trying too hard, the only thing keeping me up is his Polish replies.........Plus his CO isn't on the forums so no way to actually prove he is part of a squad, I thought, were good people.

plus, you even resorted to mom jokes. which any sensible person knows is a beaten man's last resort.
for someone who uses the hook icon alot, your not very good at recognizing it. :D

The Tigercat was intended for use on the Midway-class carriers and was deployed to Marine Corps units but never saw combat.

Never saw combat in WW2 but did see some early action in Korea, pretty sure it even scored two kills on biplanes in Korea.

were there any US navy or british navy twin engine aircraft that flew in combat, and off carriers in WW2. or was it just single engine aircraft? i do agrre that some of the rarer aircraft should be included that did fly during world war 2, like the F7F and the Meteor, but prioritize the needed and the aircraft that did see action even if it was only once that they did. i also agree that the B-29 should be added in for several reasons, 1 it will stop the constant wishes for the B-29 and it did do alot of good deeds for the USAAF in the pacific, and it ended the war. but i would have gone with another aircraft to be added first, but sadly it wasnt on the list so i couldnt have voted for it so i would have voted the B-29. but as i was saying give these rarer aircraft a chance aswell, like the F7F, and TA 154 it did get put into service but was never used from what i heard, and heres another one that would be interesting to see and fly the Fa 223. but leave the rarer aircraft for later on, maybe years later after they fill the list up with much more needed aircraft.

meteor saw combat correct? F7F didnt so it will not be added to AH

Yep, the Meteor saw some action shooting down Buzz Bombs.

but the point is. even if it didnt see combat, and was is service in numbers, and in squads. it should still be added. one to honor those who did fly them in world war 2, and two so that we can give those planes a chance to fight in a war they were built to fight in.

i don't see the point of adding a plane that was only in theater for a month or so before the war ended and never saw combat or was in transit to the area of operations when the war ended.

thats becuase you dont understand. i agree why add something that only served in a war for a week or two. ill tell you why. it was in a squadron level, and as i said before its to give it a chance to fight in a era it was built to fight in. so +1 for the F7F
-
I do believe the Metoers were also credited with 45 or 46 kills of aircraft on the ground. Since the Tigercat was initially a carrier based fighter for the Midway-class carriers which did not see combat or service in ww2, it was flown from land bases by Marines in Korea. The CV's in AH2 are Essex-class which could not support the Tigercat anyways. I love the Tigercat as well, but it does not a have place in AH2.
-
How about we request slower planes, somebody might actually TURN then :) :rock
JUGgler
-
This plane would be really cool to have. Look at how thin it is, almost like a 109 profile.

Just because someone does not agree with you doesn't mean they don't understand. I don't feel that resources should be wasted on adding planes that never saw any combat during the war.
ack-ack
-
For example:
We cant add the He 111 because it saw more combat than the B-29.
-
what i ment by you not understanding is that. let me put it this way, everyone deserves a chance at things in life. you deserve a chance to become something more then what you are, the same thing applys to this airplane, even if it never saw combat, it should still be given a chance. not now ofcoarse but later on, and thats what i ment when i said that. it should still be given a chance to shine and even if it will never fly off of essex class carriers, it can still be flown from land bases. btw the essex carriers in the game need to be redone becuase their to small.
