Title: Updated GV Damage Model
Post by: SmokinLoon on February 13, 2011, 12:12:10 AM
I'd like to see introduced a much wider array of damages to gv's, in particular to tanks.  Currently, you can only damage the engine and that is all or none; tracks and that too is all or none; turret and that too is all or none.

I'd like to see damages such as jammed turrets (no more traverse), partially damaged engines/drive train (lower max speed), partially damaged tracks (able to move but with major steering correction needed), etc.  Also, instead of automatically destroying a tank if the AP round penetrates the armor how about mimicking a crew member getting injured/killed instead and doubling reload times, or decreasing accuracy, or giving it a lower top speed, etc.  Just because an AP penetrates the armor does not mean the tank is out of commission.

There are many more things that could be added to the damage model to increase the experience.

sounds like you want AH tank's damage model to be more like WoT.

which isent a bad idea....but the air war needs to be filled out first.

what about large parts flying off like the skirt on a panzer/panther? or tracks flying off? i think that what we have now that passes for stuff being blown off is the turret going puuf and the gv itself going boom. id like to see more damage modeled into the tanks. ex):holes in the armor, bent up turrets, tanks on fire ect...
i think it would bring more realizm into the game along with your request.

While WoT is a schweet game in terms of graphics, I wont credit the game with me suggesting a more developed damage model in AH.  They are two very different beasts.  I've always thought of the damage model, and much of AH to be very elementary when it comes to damage models in both air and ground.  Even the strat system lends itself to being very simple (which isnt all bad, really).  It is the "all or none" damage model that makes me think there has to be something more out there for AH.

I think you are just trying to fit in with the older crowd.  My two cents.

Excellent idea. For as many that partake in the ground game of AH, it would be nice to see.

i didnt start in any of the actual arenas until early 09.

first 2 yrs were spent in 8-player.
then had a nasty computer crash which only let me play the game offline for 3 yrs.

then finally got internet back in 09 and signed on as Tyrannis.

(i think i may have been Rex01 for a very short time too, cant remember).

Back on topic.

I don't think gv's IRL work "partially damaged".

A broken track is a broken track.

The instances of hits on turret rings I've seen disabled the gv, possibly disabling the crew as well.

The last time I threw a rod, I barely made it home. It was like flying with a fast oil leak.

I'll ask my 19kilo friend about "partial" damage.

wrongway

... and gents, please not try and get a second thread of mine locked in less than a week.  My previous thread "The White Flag and %50 Thing" was going along well until peeps started having purse fights and calling names.  We even had HT himself add something to the thread.  So if you cant voice something in specific for the topic of this thread then please, shut your pie hole!   :aok

You guys really need to take your little girl fight to personal messages. You're ruining this thread.

Asking for added tank features in this regard, to me, would require a fair amount of work. In a game which is primarily a flight simulator, shouldn't more focus be added there? Of course, if you play AH primarily as a tank simulator, then I understand. It's a good wish, but I would prefer resources be devoted in aerial endeavors!  :salute

That is very 2000 thinking.  These days HTC gets limited support in general and a portion of it is the BeLiaL / dr7's of the world.  To say Aces High is not Aces Low would be in many ways foolish.  Any way to increase any aspect of the game would be silly.  AND....  The air model is already "better," we simply don't see it all yet.   :aok

All boils down to whether you care about the GV aspect of the game. Vehicles are probably 5% of my gameplay. Low priority for me. Casting my vote is all.

can you guys take these stupid fights out of the wishlist and let the adults talk about the topics?

by the way. the GV model is much more intricate than you think straight from HTC mouths. Just because it looks simple, doesnt mean it is. <S>

We could do that if tyrannis would just kindly stop trolling people for posting their opinions.....

an entire page of this garbage really annoys people. id like to hear some REAL opinions once in a while!
