Title: Flight Model for Zeke
Post by: fbWldcat on February 13, 2011, 08:20:34 PM
Just upped the A6M5b in the TA and it is stalling like it is going 2 mph, same in the MA and DA. Every time I turn, it stalls and I head for a flat spin. I never remember it being this bad and I was just wondering if HTC has done something to it. Honestly, it used to be my favorite plane and unless it is just me being a bit rusty after a month, it just won't be worth flying anymore. I can't fly it anymore.

I don't believe there have been any changes to the A6M flight model.  It's likely either a change to the stick scaling your using or just a matter of getting used to the controls again.

I haven't changed scaling, maybe I'm just losing it. :lol

I can still run around brews, too. I just stall much easier it seems. I still need to get some rust off. We'll see then.

You are not alone fbWldcat.  I took a year and a half off from AH and when I came back I noticed the same thing.  I fly the Zeke exclusively and had not changed any of my settings.  Upon my return I kept stalling out the Zeke.  I had to adjust my stick scaling and get rid of some rust.  It certainly feels as if the stall model has been changed.  It was probably such a small change that those already playing were able to adapt easily.  The good news is that with some adjustments to your scaling and a little practice the Zeke will feel normal soon.

I find that my stick is jerky sometimes too, try calibrating it in windows itself that helps a lot.

The zeke has been updated, and I'm sure you guys are awaiting its addition to the game.

It certainly feels as if the stall model has been changed.

There hasn't been any recent changes to the flight models of any game and all flight model changes have been noted in the patch release notes when they've been updated.

ack-ack

Yes, I agree with the original post.

I kept snap stalling it and pulling into an incipient spin.
I couldnt figure out what was wrong, only that AH apparently is allowing me to pull max AOA at less backward joystick travel than I was used to.

I've had to adjust in the A6M2 and 5 , by pulling less back stick than I used to, for a given AOA.

I noticed this first about 2 weeks ago in the A6M2.

Have not had the same issue with other aircraft, just the A6M.

AVA has Zekes and Wildcats. Zekes hold all the cards in there except ruggedness.

Flying the Wildcats are a lot of fun though.

Since I have no idea what it used to be like, I cant compare it to before... but as long as I can still get around on a brewster I guess it's modeled fairly.  If I stall it out, I take it as the plane's just telling me I'm being too heavy handed.  It's those friggin Corsairs turning ability that I have questions about the modeling of.

It hasn't changed.  It's either something on your controller side or just a false perception.

Don't roll it with a full tank of fuel either. Its a flying gas tank like that. 50 or less is plenty. Also as has been stated, recalibrate your controllers and chk your settings any time tihngs start to feel weird with any of the planes. Somtimes its just a simple issue with calibration.

25% fuel, coasted for 10 minutes to get E. Still had the problem.
