Title says it all.

After about 8 or 9 beers I'd hit them.
What's the problem again?
-
What, four big factory complexes not enough???
-
I know what Tex is getting at. Just waiting for him to expound upon the situation and maybe offer a solution or two.
Edit: Did I use 'expound' correctly? :lol
-
They still need a big rail road yard.

Not if there's hardly an incentive to attack the best protected and most remote target in game; neither in game impact nor score.
-
Bah. Whiner.
Come to the WWI arena sometime!
At leat you have strat thats not worth hitting.
,

Exactly

HQ needs something as well, the last time I seen an HQ raid (of more than one guy) was at least two years ago.

Agreed, I have wanted to see a reworking of the strat system for a long time. I'd love to see a mix of the old and new systems. On top of that, rail yards, ship yards, and aircraft manufacturing would be incredible additions.
On the rare occasion I or our squad flies to strat, it is only for fun or historical immersion. A player could fly all day and not tell any difference if his strat was 100% up or completely down.
-
There is no need to change the physical strat, just make it worth more.
Perhaps it will do a good job as a perk farming ground for buffs.
-
They should do something similar to the way the towns run right now. For example, destroying 50% of the radar factories at the strats will cause the down time of the radar at an airbase/vbase/port to increase by 10 minutes to simulate the decrease in replacement construction materials, destroy 60% and increase the down time by 15 minutes. That being said I also think that a threshold destruction % should be reached on any of the strat targets before additional down time is added, so that individual bomber runs will still need to concentrate most of their load on one or two strat targets rather than drop just a few bombs on each and gain additional down time for all the things the strat factories supply.
That's my .02

Yup. I was hoping that it would do something like this:

If I kill a refinery completely, all enemy fields limited to 50% fuel, lets say. I kill the ammo, all ords are down. Wow, would that change the dynamic of the game or what?? lol. Right now, look they are hitting our strats...eh? If it were the other way...crap, let slip the 163s.... :rock

I'm not sure what you mean by 'make it worth more'. Just make it worth more perks? Or make it have a bigger impact on game-play?
More perks may increase traffic to strat, but that often means flak, 163s, and flying deep into enemy territory. Unless it was much more valuable than town centers, it's still safer to hit some towns.
If you mean bigger game-play impact, I disagree. If that was the case, and people cared about the status of strat, we wouldn't see more defenders or really much more attacks. When those big raids hit strat now and people suddenly care about them for a few minutes, it's still much faster and easier to up a goon and resupply strat rather than defend against the attackers. Sometimes the strat is already back up by the time you land and the goons have made multiple runs and probably gained more perks than you did.

I mean both make it worth more perks and have a bigger impact on the game.
We can have the strat stay down twice or three times as long and/or increase the number of goon supplies. What can also be done is increased the effect of the strats being down, for example the starts being down can decrease the structural integrity of the hangars (like sabotage them), requiring only 500lb to drop it instead of 3000lb.

I have an idea I worked a bit on to this end. I'll post it in the next few days, but the key is to tie strats to how easy it is to capture bases and have the duration of the effect of a raid be long enough to make it worth it. Basically, if strats aren't damaged the town buildings and guns should either be extremely durable or repop extremely fast, making it very hard to do a capture. The further down the various strats are pounded, the easier it gets to keep the town down enough for a capture, in addition the strats would retain their current effects.
This would also be a strike against milkrunning in EW and perhaps make bombing town centers less effective for points and perks.

I know I should wait until you post your complete idea, but...
When you make it that difficult that even capturing bases without any defenders would be hard to accomplish, the gameplay effect will also be huge in the LW. May be too huge. Because in that case, bombing strats is almost a prerequisite to capturing bases.
I see two problems with this:
First, the rate of captures will slow down considerably again, which in turn has a big impact on the "war" and map rotation in particular. You would have to change a lot of other gameplay settings to balance that again.
Second, what about a country that has a lot of territory on a large map? Do they ever have a chance to strike back, when enemy strats are basically completely out of their reach?
Not shooting your idea down, just a few things that came to my mind. I'm eagerly anticipating your fleshed out idea

Lusche, if I understand the basics...
Ords stay down for 45 minutes.
Based of the percentage of the ammo factory in the strats operation or undamaged, this is the multiplier to time the ords stay down at field xx.
Ammo down to 66%. Ords down on field for 75 minutes.
I think there should be an incentive to defend the strats, otherwise why have them. It is indeed more lucrative perk and scorewise to fly zee Ki-67s and hit town centers.
-
I still like the ideas discussed for the strats in THIS thread:

You know what would be interesting?
What if when you hit a strat, a random front line base for that team (or two, or three) goes neutral. No one owns it, it's just an open base. The town still needs to be taken down, and troops ran in, but the auto ack shoots at both sides and both teams scramble mad to retrieve the unclaimed base.
I can imagine a LOAD of fun watching the clash of aircraft and vehicles over a single base. Both teams (or all three!) an equal chance in taking the base would create a huge fight around the town that could potentially last for hours since both teams have to fly the same distance. No one vulching, no one being vulched, just a good 'ol fashioned fight for ownership. Bombers to take down town would be shooting each other with their mounted guns, fighters would be desperately trying to push the enemy back so that friendlies can get troops in, and the vehicle war would potentially be one on an epic scale.
I would be hitting strats every chance I got! :x
This would add a dimension of uncertainty to the game that I feel is really needed. Something dynamic that can happen at a moments notice, and no one knows where...
...Thoughts?

Lusche is right.

Pay big perk for strat runs & this will help build incentive, also will help get the B29 perks for those who will need them.

That. The B-29 will be an ideal strat runner plane with its poor climb rate, big bombload, insane speed and high altitude. Also if a raid cant completely shutdown the strats, that will take only a minimal effect on the gameplay, so pointless. We have this really nice city, pay lotsa perks for destroying it!

better strats!!! and new strats in the old strat locations!! +1 and worht more! <<S>>
-
Oh yeah, gotta do something to the system and adding more would be awesome. I miss when hitting strats would actually HURT.
AND GIVE ME RAILYARDS!!!! :bhead *drools* :x
