I wanna know if getting bombed in GVs is just irritating or feels like part of the game for the Tankers. When I see a tank battle going on I'm wondering if it should be left alone to shoot it out. I personally can't hit anything with a bomb so it doesn't matter what I do but I thought it might get a little tedious vs exciting to be shooting it out with another gv and get air assaulted. Anybody?
-
Well the mere existance of the term "bomb****" should pretty much answer the question, but I'm no GVer, so maybe you'll hear from somebody who is...
-
You must be the type of person that cries bloody murder if his fighter sortie 1-v-1 in the middle of a furball is interrupted.... Even if that 1 he was fighting was really already engaged in another 1v1....
:noid
Frankly the question is how do we (the general community) take all the WHINING that some GV drivers put up about being bombed?
A very vocal minority... they almost ruined more than one scenario with these complaints, as well. The cries also go up nonstop about tank town being bombed as well.
You can't operate in a vaccuum. You want vaccuum? Go play offline against the drones. You want to stop the bombs? Up a wirble. Most deadly GV of the entire set by a long shot. 90% or more of all GV kills on planes are from a wirble. It's really rather uber. So up one, drive along with your buddies, and cover them from the air attacks. Or find a buddy willing to do that for you.
-
Sucks to be bombed while in a tank that's for sure. I am guilty of doing it to others though. Part of the game I would say.
-
Interesting... The word I used starting with bomb and ending with ard, with a letter t in the middle was blocked.
-
I tend to take off with a couple of eggs just for tanks I see near the field. It is pretty simple, if you don't egg them, they will definitely cap the field and vulch later.
If they are at or near the spawn, I tend to leave them alone.

Great minds think alike ... :uhoh
If I am around and you are marching your GV towards the base/town, be it Air or Vehicle, be prepared to be bombed if your a tank, or be prepared to get your gun shot out if your an Osty or a Whirble.
Tank towns and GV spawn battles I don't bother with bombing ... to much fun waiting for those who do show up with bombs and ripping them to shreds.
-
if i gv at all...i'm not just sitting, rather be making a moving assault...makes it more difficult to hit with a bomb...but then i don't care how many times i get sent to the tower either... :joystick:

I'll leave tank fights alone if they are fighting it out and no bases is being captured for either side. I will bomb tanks if they start pushing hard to our base/town, or our guys are trying to take the base and ask for some help. Spawn campers get bombed no mater the situation, they usually cry the most so it's much more entertaining. Been Bombed in tanks plenty of times, it's part of the game.

Now, now, lets not jump to prejudicial conclusions. The only thing I whine about is all the Jackprettythang's in fighter planes with big red icons above them that shoot at me while I'm just trying to have a nice little flight, whats THAT all about?
-
"Jackprettythang's" The AH autotranslater is amazing.
-
I bomb spawn campers...turn them into great balls of fire
-
You bomb my tank.
I take your ords away.
Then come back in lancs and bomb your enitre gv base =]
-
I really don't think gv'ers get too PO'ed when they are storming an air base and they get egged--comes with the territory.
If I have broken through a spawn and am almost to the airfield and the ords pop back up and I get egged it's fully understandable. If the situation were reversed and I were defending, I'd egg the guy as well rather than have him be able to camp the runways or vh.
I think they are in a nice gv-vs-gv battle and it's simply that and one of the NME gets killed a few times because they did not take "Introduction To Not Staying In The Open/Art of Blending In With Your Environment--101" and gets frustrated and comes back and Lanc-Stukas everything in sight because of their own lack of skills it's a bit of a pain. It's their $15 bucks, but why not just tough it out and learn how to gv. Sure, it's a steep learning curve but lots of fun to work on those skill-sets.
There's also a second stereotype where some new guy finds sees so many other players landing scalps and they cant do it in a gv or in a turn-fight so they resort to upping in a heavy pony or jug and goes over to some gv fight and eggs the tanks and dump rockets on the thin skinned gv's and then scalded-dog runs home to the nearest base to land scalps-get name in lights. Then again, HTC hands out monthly kudos for "attack" so it's actually encouraged. Kinda lame (sad really) but encouraged...but then again, their $15 bucks.
-
That's a false assumption... That you can't get kills, you have no skill, so you bomb?
Puh... LEEZ....
No newbie's going to go around bombing GVs for name in lights. At worst you used to see them "tag" tanks back when BBs let you kill-steal tanks from other tanks that actually did the damage. That no longer works now.
No, bombing tanks takes more time and skill than the average spawn-camping GVer or the spit-16-flying newbie in a furball. You get less kills, carry less bombs, and have greater chance of getting shot down and never getting a kill than any other method of playing this game.
So the whole "You bombed me, you must suck!! Dont' know how to do anything else?" argument just don't float.
-
I prefer to Bomb Perk tanks......only risk what your willing to loose :aok
-

Those....are YOUR words, not mine. Please re-read and inwardly digest.
BTW: When's the last time you played?
-
i dont bomb tanks i gun them with il2 or hurricane d .. bonus = dont need ords to be up.
-
I will bomb tanks trying to storm or capture a base and they are getting too close for comfort (if there are no friendly GV's to defend).
I will also bomb spawn campers to break the camp if it is thwarting a capture attempt.
Otherwise, I will leave them alone to beat the crap out of each other.
Anti-aircraft GV's?
Bomb. Every time.
They are not there for a tank battle.
Bombing in tank town? Kinda lame, just as is spawning a flackpanzer under a furball, but easily fixed by someone upping an Osti or Whirble.
I will though, from time to time, take a fighter to tank town just to kill the griefers with bombs.
Bombing GV's just because you can is kinda lame, but hey, I pay my $15 and so does everyone else.
-
Just part of the game. Irritating in the same way getting shot down is irritating.
Tanks are targets. This is an air combat game, after all. It ain't called Aces Low.
I don't bomb tanks at Tank Town, though, unless someone's trying to take bases there. But if you're close enough to take down field ack or town buildings, you can expect the enemy to take you out by the most efficient means at his disposal, which is usually bombing.
-

Seemed pretty clear to me, ROX...

I expect to have someone trying to kill me at all times. So when it happens it is no surprise. You bomb my GV, I'll be back in a fighter to kill you. Rinse and repeat. So come bomb me anytime! :aok
-
Good lord.
Compared to putting in the time and effort to learn ACM (much less SA) in a plane to be succesful at it...
Compared to putting in the time and effort to learn the different gvs, gv ranging, gv SA, and gv gunnery on specific gv places and be succesful at it...
For a frustrated relative newcomer, climbing in to a heavy pony or jug and divebombing a couple of gv's is the fastest road to getting kills and their name in lights.
Ya know, if ya played more than 8 or 9 or even 16 hours a tour you'd see it happening enough with your own eyes-- instead of stating hands down that it doesn't exist.

Thats exactly why you SHOULD bomb GVs. :D
-
GVs attacking an airfield or town, especially if the VH has been taken down, eggs all the way.
GV fight between 2 Vbases? Leave them the F alone. Bring a fighter and kill the bomb****s who are trying to grief the tankers.
Rediculously camped spawn, however..... 2 eggs, order UP!
-
Before you roll on a base you drop ords, and bring a friend in a wirble its that simple.
Sometimes we leave the ords up so they keep uping and we can work on the ole wirble/osty skills, it's all good you just have to plan ahead.
Just like in real life you have to have a balanced force involved in the attack. :salute
-
If you bomb me in a GV, I'll call you a bomb****. If I get too P.O.'d I'll try to shoot you down. Kill my VH I'll bomb you're GV's. C'est l'guerre.
-
I just wish they didnt whistle at me before killing me. I find it rude.

LOL, looking up my stats and trying to use that against me?
Fail.
Your claim to know how newbies operate is also a fail. Dive bombing, actually hitting your target, and pulling out (i.e. not augering) isn't quite that easy, as evidenced by all the NEWBIES plowing in on their dive runs and missing by miles.
And if you actually fought more you'd see it takes no skill to blast into a furball with an La7 or spit16 and rack up 2 kills, even if you have no SA or no skill. Die, reup, rinse, repeat. And it's way faster, more gratifying, and easier than trying to dive bomb GVs at a specific area.
-
It is nice to be left alone to have a tank battle, it is also expected to get bombed if you advance on a base without taking the ord down!
The bombs will fall, weather you like it or not, unless you kill the ord!
The thing that is irritating is the big bad tanker that gets his hat handed to him, so he goes and gets a plane and some ord!
-

Nevermind...please continue down the road blind without a cane.

You understand Sir! :aok

If its an enemy tank, plane, ship kill it. Having your tank killed, or gunning a diving
il2 down is the same thing. An enemy has been eliminated. Now if AH was a game where players were treated as 'dead' for an hour after a kill. Then all would see how a war of attrition by losses ends faster than warriors resurrected in the tower and upping new hardware in seconds.
But realizing that AH is a game, and not real war (which a LOT of AHers have been in) then everything is game.
Just my view anyway, and I have been bombed out of many many GVs.
-
To answer the original question about how gver's take it I think we've seen the range of answers.
If gv's are attacking an airfield for capture or to cause general mayhem then no problem.
If gv's are attacking a v base more of a problem but that's war.
If it's a straight gv vs gv spawn fight and someone rains bombs on their parade then big problem and sometimes complaints on both sides.
If it's a hopelessly camped spawn and the camping side is bombing as well - you can draw your own conclusion.
There are solutions to all the scenarios above of course and that is what the game is about.
I'm not really offering up my opinion on any of it since I'm guilty of participating in most of the above and I keep coming back because a new tank or plane is a mouse click away.
-
i'm guilty of bomb****ing gv battles,i would get mad because i was killed all the time so i upped and bombed them to get even, but thats not the way.if your in a gv battle and your getting bombed, get a wirble or go to another field.now i only bomb when ene is in town or comming to base and vh is down.but yes i still hate getting bomb****ed.esp when there is plenty of other bases they can bomb.but panes bombed tanks in WWII.insome movies mustangs are refered to as tank killers.p-47d-40's carrie 3 bombs 8 rockets,p38-2 bombs 12 rockets-all very good at killing tanks.nuff said

when they are turtled...they take it on their back...
RELEASE THE COOKIE!
-
The bigger the tard/whiner, the more they should be bombed. Bombing pacerr is the best, produces the best results.
-
Not sure if I ever bombed in TT. Hopefully not. After that everything is fair game. As far as getting bombed in a gv. Doesn't bother me. In fact I find it funny when they continuously miss. About a month ago I was turreted in a werble after just one kill. So I walk away from computer and let the werble just smolder there. Came back and had kill #4. hehe
-
I thought of this thread yesterday after I landed my 9 kills in a Typhoon, 7 of them from egging tanks and Osties.....
I won't name the player, but your whines brightened my day after I dropped that 1000 pounder on your head. If you're gonna sit in a perk tank up on a hill in that "perfect hiding spot" above the spawn and slaughter the GVs as they spawn in, and the GVs spawning in have little chance to fight back bacause at that range even if they can figure out where they're being killed from, and manage to get a round off.... they're likely bever gonna hit you and if they do your "uber armor" is gonna laugh off the round at that range.......
You better believe it buddy, you're getting an egg, special delivery. :aok
-
The whines from being egged are not near as good and the ones you get when you hit the tower button after the egg is on the way. :devil

:rofl Yeh, that's why I never drop on anyone sitting on concrete, unless it's a wirb and I can see him shooting at someone else (hope being that he's distracted and won't have enough time to realize what's coming until too late.)

Doesn't make a difference to me. I'll take the ditch, or give the kill to someone on the ground. I just love the comments I get. :D

hehe GV's by an AF is a recipe for a good time, just up my P38j and kill 3 with the loadout then rearm and repeat :x

I mean, when you guys see a cockroach on the ground, don't you step on it?

No, we let it go back to the spawn. :devil
