Waiting for the rest of the fanboys to show up to gang the OP followed by the search button crowd then the INevitable lock.

The arena whines have been getting ridiculous, this was finally the post to push me over the edge into maniacal laughter, thank you.  So well put, such a beautifully sinister foretelling of the posts to come.

Fanboi here.

When I logged out the numbers were 100/100-117/200.

Can't join the L33T 100?

Are you pissed enough to quit yet?

Until everyone who is whining about the caps is willing to leave versus the people who are trying the game and staying, nothing will happen.

Everyone cancel your subscription NOW.

You need to prove Hitech that he is wrong by reversing the profitability in his concept with capped arenas.

No thanks, I think I'll keep my subscription.
Caps have done nothing to affect me.

If you, the "entire" community is so pissed about not being
able to fly with your squad, then
join
a
different
squad.

Stop whining, grow up.

Look...I love this game just as much as anyone.  I have yet to see any of my kids playing their WOW or Call of Duty games gripe about a player cap.  Bottom line is if it affects the community as a negative...which there is plenty of posts to show it.  Something needs to change.  This is 2011 right?

Comparing Aces High to LOL and CoD is truly sad.
Polar opposites at best.

I just bought the game and I think player caps is stupid. I'd rather play in "off hours" when there can be 300+ people on the same server. I didn't buy this game as a MMO just so that I can play IL-2 with worse graphics. If I wanted small battles I'd play IL-2 or some other flight sim. It kinda ruins the feeling that I'm taking part in a war, especially when I'm striving to win on one map, then I take a break and come back only to find out I have to fight for another map, then I take another break and find out I have to fight over YET ANOTHER map because there are effectively three different servers splitting up a community of roughly 500 players at any given time.

If I didn't like flight sims so much and the "off hours" arena didn't exist, I probably wouldn't be giving them my money. Plus I like to support local businesses since HiTech is really close to where I live, but I'd still rather see one large arena than two small ones. If people wan small battles they can go to the duel arena or play IL-2.

Comparing Aces High to anything in the market now is sad...
Like in previous posts this game is an oddity.  It has more potential than anything on the market.

1) Do they have the big marketing name behind them? No.

2) Is Aces High a weenie point and shoot game? No.

3) Are people paying to sit in the opening screen of a game and choose arenas that have 2 to 10 people in it? Yes.

4) Are people fed up with this style of opening format? Yes.

Apparently you have to wine a lot and make a lot of posts to be heard...so that's what I intend on doing.

Tonight Orange was capped at 100/100, when I logged on.
So I went to Blue.  Guess what. So did the new squad that I was allowed to join.  Imagine that.  I'm a newbie to this squad, but they went to Blue, because I couldn't get to Orange.  That's class.

Sorry to say but that's pretty lame.  Great for you and your squad, but as for having to do that every time the cap hits a limit expecting a squad to switch when you have members coming and going.  Lame!

Try asking like this...

Please consider altering the arena caps so that when the total number falls below a threshold, the caps are removed.

Have you entertained the idea that this could be the very reason that HTC changed it to the way it is?

Or perhaps it is just to amuse themselves?
Title: Re: Seriously???

Have you guys ever considered that it would be easier for HTC to split the servers entirely?

Put one on each coast and you would get to choose 1 time which one you wanted to play on.
All those who joined the other server you could no longer talk to or fly with.

They would have their own forums so you wouldn't even know what is happening over there.

HT has tried hard to make things so everyone can play here, you just have to choose the lesser populated arena at times.

you mean like east/west servers

eruopean servers.

etc?

what about the squads who have people from different countries tho?
wouldnt it cause the british people in "The Few" to lag if they tried to join the east american server with the american "The Few"? and vise-versa?

Which is a lot less than the 30-60 minutes one can spend waiting in line for a 60-90 second thrill on a roller coaster ride at most major amusement parks in the peak season.

Not really that long of a wait (for the few hours of fun one gets to enjoy once in the arena) when it is put into perspective, eh?

And I bet the whole squad had fun even though they weren't in "teh uber L337 Orange arena".   :aok

This why I find this current rash of whines hilarious:  "I can't get into Orange cuz it's capped at 100, and I won't go into Blue which is open and has 117 in it because I won't be able to find a fight and won't have any fun."

Epic amounts of stupid.

had to refrain until the coffee kicked in...just curious how you would know the actual numbers of the "player base"?

fairly obvious you don't know how the arena caps work, or you would have gone into blue...if you have a suggestion for a suitable alternative submit it in an intelligent manner...otherwise you're just another overgrown toddler throwing a tantrum.

OP: I belong to Squad Atari. There are 500 of use waiting to get on so we can gang and ho, then pat each other on the back for our skillful flying. How come this game isn't more like Galaxian or the Sewer of WarKrap?

My interests and hobbies takes me to many forums where like minded people can express their opinions, share ideas and have fun. I've received lots of help and laughter on this forum, and for the most part believe it is a positive thing. However, one thing that sets this forum apart from the many others I participate in is the vitriolic behavior I've seen in some of the responses.

The attacks usually come from the same individuals and usually comes after a post concerning suggestions to improve the game. You know what is just as old and tired as someone whining about arena caps, HO's, pickers, vulchers, ad infinitum ad nauseum? The counter whines (and yes that's what they are) in the form of belittling, insulting, degrading and berating attacks like the ones on this thread.

If you think that someone is whining, a positive and contributing response would be to enlighten them by informing/debating the subject at hand. An overt and blatant insult serves no purpose other than to gratify his/her ego or fill some other hole missing in their personality/life. If one cannot help but to attack, I'm not against a witty jab or clever laconic stabs. Just make it entertaining, otherwise, the group as a whole would be better served if one would just pass on the response. I say this because there is no ".squelch" on this board that I know.

Prediction: shortly after I post this, some of these same individuals will prove my point.

If you think I was in some psychopathically schadenfreudian seizure when I wrote the above, you need (not thicker skin, but) to get a grip on what text communication like this internet forum format does to human expression.  IE what you read as crass insult might just be dispassionate tongue in cheek at genuinely perceived absurdity.

This is correct...Hitech is counting on those of us who are longtime fans of the game putting up with mechanics that we hate to appease new players...when the AH addicts start cancelling their accounts the arena caps will disappear.

There are player caps on WoW servers you just don't hear them complaining.  Call of Duty no longer has privately hosted servers so there is so no cap becuase players don't host servers there is matchmaking.  Also Call of Duty is a FPS this is a MMO there is no similarity you cannot even compare them whatsoever especially if they play CoD on a console..  I am having difficulty telling you why Cod doesn't have cap problems becuase Ah is so much different in all of its mechanics.

What about an arena where you are able of winning the other pilots points.  Instead of a ponys eny being 5.  It could cost him 10 perks, and if he is shot down the wining pilot gets those 10 points.  Kind of like poker with airplanes.  You could call it the poker room.  Earn your perks in the MA, and really fight smartly in the PR.   People would think twice of trying to ho, and do stupid stupid things if their perkies are on the line every time.   Just a thought.
