Someone is pissed off because people "hate" on his squad...he can say what he wants but he was very emotional when he made this thread

No, I was glad to see the other countries dishing it out for a change. I haven't had that much fun defending in ages.

not so to speak. But i appreciate that you came up with a special saying for our squad, and all the pictures you make for us. So thank you in advanced.

Not for long....takes about 1 turn to kill anyone in your squad unless its Dallas...who will fly straight and level in his dora till he sees a gangbang in progress...

Gotta love trash talkers.

You are most welcome. You will learn to hate having the Pigs attention in the mains. Horde/NOE attack the Knights front anywhere, and the Pigs will be there. Hell let us know your coming and we promise not to tell a soul, but the Pigs will show up. :devil

well at least we have the common courtesy to announce our intentions prior to arrival :D i have a feeling a few new Porky's Bar & Dance Halls are going to open up tonight on some newly acquired land  ~OINK

We don't have to say anything, I'll let the four Doras that were running back to their base with their tail between their legs from my single Dora the other night tell the story.

you would know because you have fought all 63 of our members....right?

He likely fought all of you at the same time during a base take.
Guys like you used to all try to squeeze into a VW Bug in the old days. ;)

I wouldn't really call plowing through at 550mph eight of your pilot's sixs while they're tunnel-visioned on a single slow con infront of them a fight.

i dont hide in the horde. Im usually out front somewhere. Come to think of it, im not in the hoard that much. Usually im doin an Op. at the time when the horde is upping unless im one of the leads of the horde. Im one of the ones that porks the ords, fuel, barracks at bases.

So you claim, but I sure flamed your butt Tuesday night, both in Doras, in that ginormous 30- or 40-plane nit horde that was at A9-10-11 all night. (You may have been one of the smaller number of people coming back to A8 after we took it, I don't recall exactly which fight it was.)
I may have to start a WARBEAST-style thread, but only for people who talk trash in the forum only to get spanked by me or another vTARD in the MA. :devil

Yeah, I got a PM from him once telling me the same as I was chasing him as he was trying to run back to his field acks. I figured the person that had the bandit on their 6 would have been the one that needed the TA visit.

Not sure which arena you're in.
In the Orange arena at most times 6pm EST to midnight, the Bishop Horde and knit horde take most bases (watch the buffer of captured bases and most rook bases flashing due to the enemy).
Go back in time a few months ago you have:
1)Bishop hording bases left and right
2)knits disorganized, but then they got organized.
Now most time I see more knits attacking rooks, more bishops attacking rooks. And the rooks can only survive by starting to attempt some coordinated effort to take bases back. Trying to do what the Knits and Bishops do most quite often now.
And, by some large force, the rooks still tend to furball.

:rofl Thanks for that. Pretty sure you only got me once unless you were also in a pony. And I didn't know you and your friend in Dora vs me and another random knit (don't remember who, but he was the first to spot your later F4U friend coming in on the scene) qualified as a 30 or 40 plane horde. You know, you shouldn't of blown your E and ran out on the deck so easy after giving up your buddy to die to me while you ran away the first time to climb up and gain an E advantage.
Please do show the film if you have it, would love for people to see "the horde" we were fighting in, your evading skills, how far back towards the safety of your base ack you ran on the deck, and all before your friend in the 15k F4U came out over half a sector to finally clear your six and give you that box of tissues you must of been asking for over vox for the last 5 minutes.

Right. Not obsessed with us - it's just pure chance that every post of yours is a slam on us.
Pretty sure you only got me once unless you were also in a pony.
Nope, just once - by "both" I meant both of us were in the same plane.
(A bunch of other whinging.)
*shrug* You died, I didn't. Kills talk, bu*****t walks. Next time, maybe you'll get me. I just like to point out that a lot of the would be "baby seal clubbers" who come in here and thump their chests get clubbed themselves - and no horde is involved or necessary.

try re-reading it. I said that i was usually out front of the horde whenever i was part of the horde.

You keep believing that. If you're the first one "in a whorde", you're still "a part of the whorde". But it's funny to watch some of you justify your stances.

And all I wanted to do when I started this thread was to compliment the Rooks and Knights for both showing a lot of teamwork.
To me it looked like the Rooks were doing an excellent job of fighting the Bishops and the Knights. Although I can not really say the Knights were hitting the rooks hard, they were definitely hitting the Bishops hard to gain back lost territory.
I am not insulting anyone here, just praising good gameplay.

dont know about you guys but when the Devil's start rolling bases it stirs up some good retaliatory action and some good fights :aok so honestly, if you guys dont like their style of flying, at least like their outcome. the 20th has supported their operations before and we've had some great mid alt/high alt fights out of the enemy coming in to get them from above...
I love CAPs :D

wntrgrn, they dont understand that. Because we are "vTards" we must be trying to start a fight with someone. So everyone must gang us, which basically makes them a "horde". then they all get to share their stories together about how the only thing "vTards" do is run, horde, steal kills, bomb tard, ho, vulch, run, cheat, spy, glitch, run, horde, whine, talk smack, BnZ, attack undefended base, shut bases down, kill all hangers, kill fighter hangers, kill vhs, kill ords, kill barracks, run, and horde some more. Im tired of all the trash talking about the "vTards". No matter what we do someone is against it. Get over it. Everyone flys differently and we all just happen to enjoy flying the same. Some people love to furball, well we dont, we love doing all of the above. So let us be and let us do as we please with our $14.95

Sorry, you're the one who tried foisting off the notion that "if you're the tip of the sword/whorde", you are "not a part of the sword/whorde". You then reply with your Squads usual retort which is code for "Crap, we've missed some plates in the plate spinning contest".
-

Now you show the Community that you in fact have been wrong all along and prove their point for them.

I hope you have a wonderful day.

Right. Not obsessed with us - it's just pure chance that every post of yours is a slam on us.
Wrong again,
I hold the highest respect for a few guys that fly in the squad. Especially VBamBam aka Gerwin who used to fly for the Mob and I felt horrible when he left. But he flew odd hours and had no squaddies on so its understandable and Im glad hes having fun. Dallas and I go way back and we even share freindly banter now and then.
On the other hand...guys like you who have had repeated meltdowns on 200 and here on the BBS truley make their ignorance obvious to the rest of us when you post "look at me" threads like this when things dont go your way. I honestly believe that you guys do what you do NOT to have fun in the game, but have a mission with the purpose to greif others.
Once you come off your high horse and realize that noone cares what you do and the gripes that fuel your fire dies down, you may "get it" but I dont see that happening sometime soon

Again, the purpose of this thread was to show some due respect to the Rooks and to a lesser extent, the Knights as well. I was thoroughly impressed by the way both countries coordinated (independently from each other) and massed their resources to capture territory.
As far as channel 200 goes, my squad is under standing orders to not have it tuned in the first place.

I saw the title of this thread "Rook Horde" and was sooo, sooo close to posting up a funny picture of what "Rook Horde" brought to mind.... But as I sat there with google pulled up to do an image search, I just couldn't make myself type "gay pride parade".........
:rofl

Yeah, that's pretty much right. Am I not allowed to give praise when praise is due?
I'm not going to question your intentions. It appeared honest to me.
I really think he had noticed something that hasn't happened much at all lately in LWOrange among rooks--working together.
Last night was the first time in a Looooooong time I saw a totally concious effort with rooks actually working together. I was proud/impressed.
That's what I think you noticed. THAT, is what I have been sorely missing among rooks. Hope it's an every night occurance from now on.

It's how the battles were won during the war. Concentrating force is the most effective way to be successful, it's just how it works.
Also to me the word horde has no negative connotations, and I have the most fun when it's hordes vs hordes.

Trash talking is just poor sportsmanship whether it's on the forums, in the arenas or even at the pingpong table as far as I'm concerned.

Groups of people working together is good for the game in my opinion. They make IL-2 Strumovik for guys who don't like flying with friends. Again, the rooks were hording and that was good for the Rooks. When you see a thread title do you just base your response on the title or the substance?
I understand that this is a game, not a war. But it is a game where we play war, more specifically WW2. I'm sure if you look hard enough someone will be more than happy to charge you $15 a month to play Poke`mon, Tiddlywinks Barbies or Pogs on their servers if you don't want to play war here. The fact that you hold my squadron in such low regard makes me think you might be a bit biased against anything I say.
-
Rooks had a good size horde up the other day on the vagina map. Picked me a few buffs and made my escape. Thought to myself. What a great time to just go out and fight. Didn't do great and yet not all that bad either. Was fun!
-

I base my responses on what you post, not your whole squad. That is why I posted this section "nor will it bring the reputation your squad seems to have earned back up out of the gutter" (see the bolded). I didn't say "that they have", I give them the benefit of doubt by saying "seems".
I also had put the "intended" in quotes because I believe you DID NOT intend to just give cudos to the Rooks and some what to the Knights for organizing. You wanted to point out that the Rooks had a horde, and the Knights were trying to make one. Nobody said that the Bish are the only ones that horde, they are just more KNOWN for it. All sides horde, but that still doesn't make it a good thing. Hordes are bad for the game, period. It doesn't matter how much you polish a piece of crap, it's still a piece of crap.
Mission planners/leaders are responsible for the hordes. A number of people have said they can't control how many join the missions and such, I say Bull####! If you can't lead, or people don't follow orders than that is a reflection of poor leadership. You guys won't split your missions because you might fail. The only way to ensure a capture is to allow the horde to form and roll over a base.
Personally I think it's a poor way to play the game, where's the challenge? I suppose you guys play stratego or Risk by just wiping your arm across the board sweeping all the other players piece to the floor and say "WOW! I won again!"
-
Fugitive.
You state that hordes are bad for the game as though it's an irrefutable fact, as opposed to an opinion. Please explain why hordes are bad for the game. In my understanding of the history of warfare, hordes have always happened, and for the most part those able to field the largest and/or most effective horde have typically won the engagement.
Are you sure you just don't believe that you're opponent should fail to plan, or maybe even plan to fail? Does effective planning, organization and recruitment of resources necessary to accomplish an objective damage the integrity of the game?
Are you of the opinion that a horde is some kind of irresistible force? Are they impossible to defend against? DO THEY SCARE YOU?
I've seen many a horde be sent packing with their tails tucked, or better yet towered in minutes. I've done it to them, and had it done to mine. And best of all, everybody on both sides seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I challenge you to lead a horde into battle 10 times with the objective of capturing an enemy base, and report back how often you succeed, as well as the casualty rate of the pilots involved. I expect you'll discover that the losses are much higher than you imagine, and the success rate is much lower you expect.
-
Sorry vNucks...he won't do it. None of them will. And they are WAY too lazy to pork ords/troops along the front to stop the hoard from even forming in the first place. Don't like hoards? TAKE AWAY the tools of the trade (ords/troops) that every hoard requires to take a base. Not willing to do that? Then save the whines because if they aren't willing to stop the hoard before it even starts...they deserve to get hoarded.
Even if Hades froze over and they even attempted it the first time they posted one and everyone saw bad planeset, bad gun & bomb loadouts, way too much gas and everyone is taking off out of the hangars---no one would join.
Nope. It's far easier for that crowd to hollar out from the cheap seats about how everyone who doesn't play their $15 bucks like they do is lame and bad for game play. Look for brainwashed ad infinitum phrases like "attacking undefended bases" and "avoiding fighting"...it's the dead giveaway of the "everyone should play their $15 bucks just like I do or they are lame" crowd.
I DO have to give you props for trying, though, vNucks.
Truth is, everyone plays their $15 bucks how THEY want, no matter how much someone else gets on the forums and whines about it. Some have never figured that out and never will.
-
undefended bases??? Oh, I know what you mean, we often meet overwhelming numbers of un-defenders
:x
-
Yeah Nucks, you need to stop attacking the defended bases or you're out of the squad.

In my understanding of the history of warfare, hordes have always happened, and for the most part those able to field the largest and/or most effective horde have typically won the engagement.
Yes it is fact, it is one of the main reasons the arena split happened in the first place. Hordes are part of that "Unhealthy environment" that you hear of.
Are you sure you just don't believe that you're opponent should fail to plan, or maybe even plan to fail? Does effective planning, organization and recruitment of resources necessary to accomplish an objective damage the integrity of the game?
There is no planning. missions are "everyone grab a bunch of bombs and we will flatten the base" thats why they need such numbers. No skill, no plans, that only leaves brute force.
Are you of the opinion that a horde is some kind of irresistible force? Are they impossible to defend against? DO THEY SCARE YOU?
irresistible force force? not really, but for unskilled player they find safety in numbers. Impossible to defend against? ya due to the fact that more and more people see the horde and say "screw that" and go some place else to play. Defending against the horde is frustrating as you spend more time dieing than fighting. While I don't mind dieing, I find it hard to fight 4 or 5 guys at once. Do they scare me? LOL!!!! what a stupid statement!
I've seen many a horde be sent packing with their tails tucked, or better yet towered in minutes. I've done it to them, and had it done to mine. And best of all, everybody on both sides seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Good for you, I guess if I flew for over 110 hours this month I might see that happen more often, but I don't. Law of averages says that some have to fail, you must be lucky see them.
I challenge you to lead a horde into battle 10 times with the objective of capturing an enemy base, and report back how often you succeed, as well as the casualty rate of the pilots involved. I expect you'll discover that the losses are much higher than you imagine, and the success rate is much lower you expect.
I don't like to join hordes, never mind lead one. I would do everything I could to break up my force to hit more than one base at a time. I expect the loses you see are due to the lower skilled players that find the "need" to hide in the horde. When I was the CO of the Mafia years ago we would hit multiple targets at once. I KNEW I could count on a 75% hit percentage for my squadmates and built my plans around that. I would bring enough for the job plus 10% just in case. If we couldn't take the base with that, we would regroup and run another mission.
Running IN a horde makes it no challenge to attack a base, there for not much fun. If there is 0% chance of failure why bother going for it? If I could win every fight I flew into why would I bother to play any more, where would the fun be to it? Fighting against the horde is frustrating and well not really any fun after awhile either, so where the "fun" in a game that is suppose to be "fun"? Eventually all there will be is 3 hordes avoiding each other trying to reset the map before the hordes do. Nobody will be defending against it, why bother it only takes away from thier own horde. It surely will be alot more fun then won't it.
But I've been told that the game has changed and I should change with it. So I try to HO as much as possible now. Old habits are hard to break though so I'm never in a good position for a HO, but I'm working on it. I'm really going to need that skill as joining with the horde means I'll have to improve my shot, any shot, so I can get some kills before my countrymen/teammates can get them. Of course hiding in the horde I shouldn't die as much so that should give me more time to chase down those foolish bandits that try and fight the horde. It's all good :aok

They make IL-2 Strumovik for guys who don't like flying with friends. Again, the rooks were hording and that was good for the Rooks. When you see a thread title do you just base your response on the title or the substance?
Actually, when I do fly Il2-1946 Sturmovik, I fly with a specific group of guys I like on a specific server. And have a blast talking / working together. The key is 'hyperlobby' to locate the arena you want. Eventually you like that arena, and that axis or allied side, you join their teamspeak, you eventually find the group you like and you sign onto their website to do missions with them. ANd some squads participate in 'fso' mutli-week mission (like the Axis vs Allied 5 frame missions).

I read many reasons posted regarding why HiTech split the arena, and the horde wasn't amongst them.
All I hear is that you and a very vocal and very small minority don't like them. Cite your sources if you want to state something as fact. I'll cite you as as my source that most players don't dislike them, I'll make the assumption the the horde members don't disapprove of the horde, and your characterization of the "horde" is such that its members must grossly outnumber its non-members.
As for the rest of your post, you make claims that you have experience regarding a subject that you claim you do not participate in. You don't participate in hordes, yet you have intimate knowledge of their lack of planning. I repeat my request, obtain a little experience with the horde, and you may find that your success with it improves with experience.
As for the horde offering an environment for those with less skills to pool their efforts to find success vs. those with greater skills, I won't argue. I just don't get why its bad for the game.
So, get some experience, or get some sources, or at least be honest enough to state your opinion as "an opinion" and "yours". By you're own admission, you know little or nothing of being a horde member, yet apparently are an expert on what one can experience as a member or planner of one. I suggest you're clueless, and I'll state your previous post as my source... Get over yourself dude

Well, at least some of us have a sense of humor.
You know what the best thing about Aces High is? The game is so intense, immersive and challenging it is easy to for me to take it to seriously.

You keep thinking that way, you are going to go bald and loose your mind.
The average AHer comes in to a game that you have to admit, has a huge learning curve. Their only form of success in here is if they group up in huge gaggles and they gravitate to this style being as they have more confidence in staying alive.
Our saving grace is that a good percentage of these guys, if they stick around with their subscriptions eventually will get bored and as their confidence grows..move on to bigger and better things. True winning the war may have mass appeal the first 1000 times you see a reset, but after a while you come to terms with what you are doing to where it looses its shine.
Problem here is that they tune out any advice you give them. They see their mayhem as a positive thing contributing to their cause and the more you try to show them the way, the more fuel it adds to the fire and the longer it takes them to develop. These large mega squads often die off in a matter of a couple months. Either their roster shrinks from the 2weeker that ran troops for them just never showed up again or they move on and meet other squads that appeal more to their style of play.
History repeats itself over and over agian here. Take the hordes with a grain of salt and though some can easily be greifed by their actions, I find it very amusing that they think they are doing something different thats never been done before. As much as learning the basics in ACM is important to having fun in this game I do believe we also need to learn basics in gameplay. The guys that are truley successful are the ones that adapt to their enviroment and understand that you are going to get HOd/picked/vulched and learn to avoid them as well as countering them. We have many choices in this game to have fun.

Well I'm sure I've read from one HTC representative or other that the "gangs" (which I take as hordes) were over running the arena, making it hard for new players to join in and make friends as they just mowed over base after base. Players too busy running in their "gangs" to help new players along the heavy learning curve of the game. Along with the over exuberant trash talk on 200 scaring away new players.
I've been playing this game for 10 years. I have intimate knowledge of hordes, the Mafia was one with 3 wings (2 full up, and one a "porker" wing with 6 guys in it, and yes we had a wing dedicated to porking bases, Hows that for planning?) Squad nights were twice a week and having 20 guys on was the norm (want to see the roster sheet I have when we took roll to see who was on?). As CO it was my "job" to make it a fun night for my squads and personally I didn't want to ruin other players fun. I would break up my squad into wings and have them hit 2 bases at once. Following CO of the Mafia did the same, Tzr, Mugz. Should we wanted base captures, but we didn't horde. We started fights and were just better than the opposition many nights. Other nights not so much, but thats the fun of the game. Todays horde is easy to know whats going on. Did you know you can NOT detune range channel? You can't help but know whats going on.
Your new here. The things your learning and will learn over the next 6 months many of us have have learned, tried, tested, and have since discarded. I've seen many people come and go. Your squad will go the same way as many others as your people start getting bored with the "same old" stuff and start looking to expand your horizons and learn new skills. The BOPs were one of the biggest "hordes" around, they were VERY good. Their 5 wings flew 443 this month. The LCA was another "horde" they are still around but again are on the decline. Their 6 wings flew a total of 1259 hours this month. Your squad is this years "flavor of the month". Your 2 wings flew 2073 hours this month. We'll see how your doing next year.
Tralfz, I'm not going to loose my mind over this stuff. While I complain about it this game isn't my life. It's my entertainment. People complain about the movies they see, but most don't stop going to the movies do they? I think the horde hurts a new player. By hiding in the horde they get a false sense of security. They feel a false sense of skill. Their mistakes (which most people learn from) are covered by brute force. The horde doesn't "teach/train" new players, it just gives them a place to hide in. The game does have a big learning curve, but if your not getting shot down (because most people avoid the horde), you target still gets annihilated (even tho you miss most of the time), and the base is captured and congratulations are passed around (even tho you didn't do anything to help, because you missed your target, and you were cannon fodder so the "leaders" could make it through), why should you learn to get better?
Like I said, I'll change my way of playing and "play the way others want me to". I'm getting better at that rudder kick on the HO for the "deflection shot" some are so good at. Instead of looking for good fights I'll gang the nearest con, not worry about all those Run90s and ponys that like to flee instead of fight. I'll bombs GVs just to piss them off and rack up kills the best I can.

I'm not so new here as you imagine. I played Air Warrior form from 1995 to 2001, and Aces High from 2001 through 2006. Though I have just recently returned to the game.
Again, all you have is what you say you heard some guy say that you claim is from HTC. I provided a source, one of undeniable authority, and a quote. All you offer is your opinion that you attempt to present as fact, while offering a fantasy that your feelings are shared by HTC. Yes this game is all about fantasy, but can't we try just a wee bit to inject a little reality in the forums?
And as for how you play the game, no need to change. You're not that important, and we don't really care how you enjoy you $15.

Making broad yet definitive statements about how hordes "always" operate isn't very fair.
I have seen hordes that are loaded with people who don't seem to know the game well yet or have much skill at the fundamental aspects of the game. I have also seen hordes operate like clockwork and with great discipline. It really depends on who all is participating in the horde.
I will commend Chewie, Falcon23 and Ghi for their ability to lead hordes and you can see their training methods here.

I was in the after hours map I think this morning. There was a rook cv near a knight's base. So I headed there from a nearby cv. When I arrived over the base, in spite of a full dar bar, there were very few Rooks over the base. Then the radar came on. All the rooks were hiding in the ack and probably most were on the side of the cv that was away from the base. :rofl :rofl :rofl I wondered how many Rooks can hide in a cv's ack. Has to be a joke there somewhere.
There were 51s and f4u's just hanging over the cv. At first it seemed intimidating. Then I checked the calendar. It was tourist season and these folks were sight seeing. Oh every now and then they would dive in but they were only kidding. I looked at the town and the flag was blue and the town folks were having a fiesta.
Every now and then some brave souls would stick their head out the ack only to get it chopped off. Amazing how good you get at judging ack range. Then too, amazing how you just know those taller planes aren't a threat at all.
