Title: A (really) small victory for husbands everywhere
Post by: mbailey on March 25, 2011, 04:07:01 PM
Posted this on my squads forum, but wanted to share it with other husbands here in AH.

Soooo...this morning my wife and i had a bit if a dissagreement over whether or not  our 7mo old pup should spend the day out of his pen. His name is Deacon (ie like a church deacon, hes black and white and looks like a priest in his robes) but i call him "Crackhead". In a little farther down you will realize why.

Hes a Boston terrier that we have had from the time he was able to be separated from his mom. Hes 100% potty trained (actually my wife trained him to ring a bell when he needs to go out.......how she did it i dont know, but i think she needs to train the kids the same way.........ring ring ring  clean up your room.... LOL)

Back to the story, so my wife and i have this disagreement, She wants him to stay out of his pen, as i will be working from home all day, and can check on him now and them. My side of the arguement is that i cant watch him, and that ill be in my office all day and not leaving it much.......hence i cant keep an eye on him. Well like every good husband, i decided not to fight the battle, and left him out.

So about 30 mins after my lovely bride leaves for work, im in my office, which is not to far from the kitchen, and i start to hear a rustling sound.... Im not sure what it was.....but sure that it was the little "crackhead" getting into something, i get up from my desk and walk into the kitchen.

Below is what i walked into.................

Ok, not to bad, looks like he was messing with the paper towels, but wasnt that a full 8pk? i know the wife just bought them last night.......
Wandering out into the LR I come upon this  :O (yes thats a toilet paper holder from the bathroom)
All over moms new couch (couch is 1month old) Undamaged thank god. Where the heck did the shirt and blankets come from? I still have no idea, but i know that as of this morning, they were up on my sons bed on the 2nd floor.
Look in the backround, see the little chit? Where he should have been from the get go.....notice his eyes glowing like hes posessed.....Its Satans terrier....Hes no Deacon....Hes Damian from The Omen......Im sure the second i walked out of the room, everything started floating around the room in a creepy green mist....

Needless to say, I took these photos and proudly walked out to my office, sat down on my victory throne and immediatly sent them to my wife at work  :t with an explanation of why i thought he should have stayed in his pen.

She called me 5 minutes later laughing uncontrollably and let me know that she shared the photos with a couple of her co workers.( which would explain all the laughing i heard in the backround).

The feeling of victory left me right about the time she asked me if i picked up the mess. Upon hearing that question, I pulled the phone away from my ears and stared at it, with a wtf look on my face.

"Not yet dear, but ill get to it in a bit"

Victory....well ....no....maybe we'll call it a draw......but for husbands everywhere, for once I WAS RIGHT  :aok

Bailey, I wish I has pics of what my Destructo dog has done( ate 5 cherry trees, 2 laundry room floors, numerous sets of blinds, 2 fences, ) but yeah I can relate..he's still a puppy and he will eventually grow out of it.

If you want you can rent my Puppy Launcher (tm).

It can launch puppies up to and including 50 lbs over a mile on a fat surface, far further from a tall hill or mountainside.

We just got a new German Shepherd by pup yesterday, and I am already getting the launcher oiled & maintained if needed.

So, did you clean it up or leave it for her? Oh wait you're posting and not laying in the fetal position holding your crotch crying like a 9 year old.  Never mind ;)

:rofl That's called separation anxiety. Bet if you kept puppy in office with you out of
cage, you would have an easier time.
I know a lot of people have cages and have a need to use them,
but I have never used one, nor like them.
There's an item out now called "Thunder Jacket" that does do what it claims,
which is to calm. Or you might need the Dog Whisperer, lol.
Cute pup, You'll have many years of cleaning up after, er I mean many
years of companionship,lol

See where you went wrong was in cleaning up the mess. It was funny to her because she knew that all she had to do was ask you if you cleaned it yet and she knew you would have it all picked up by the time she got home. Thus it didnt effect her. Its always funny when someone else has to deal with it.

You should have left it as is. Once it effects her. Then she'll get it.

or just chew him a new one for not cleaning up "like she asked". we all know that would have happened.

So? He did tell her not to leave the dog out.Just tell her that she's the one that wanted the dog left out. She can deal with the mess. Until it effects her directly. She wont get it.

Yes she will moan and groan. But eventually she will learn for the next time he tries to tell her something and he knows he's right.
Short term loss for a long term gain.

Why are men so afraid of their wives?
Show some stones. Its ok to tell your wife "no".

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dr. Phil has entered the building.  So we should train our girlfriends like we train our dogs?  I'm a bit confused here.

(This isnt directed to you Dred in a personal way, just my thought process)

I didnt clean it up out of fear or to make any point to her lol.....I did it for 2 reasons, 1. I respect my wife enough to not allow her to come home to that mess. God knows she works hard...full time job and a mom/wife/homemaker.Toughest profession in the world (being a mom). Decisions good or bad, need to be supported. God knows ive made a few bad ones in my life, and shes right next to me right or wrong, helping to "clean up the mess"

2. I respect my house enough to not let it look like it did.

My post was meant as a tongue in cheek "rack one up for the husbands of the world" post. Nothing more. I just thought some other married guys would like to know that every great once in a while were actually right  :lol

We were laughing about it last night and today, its no big deal. Another great memory made  :aok

something tells me you're not married...ever get told "you can be alone, or you can be wrong"?...and from a lot of experience in what not to do, you're method ends up with "alone".

there are people who have healthy relationships and accept what it takes to keep them...i'm not one of them myself but, hey evidently mbailey is married to one he wants to keep.

Been married nearly 30 years. Though it hasnt always been smooth and we've had our fair share of troubles. But, Im still here and so is she. I respect her and she respects me. I gave up being afraid of my wife after 6 or 7 years. Wish I had done it sooner. Women will abuse that power if you let em. Most men let em under the guise that they will loose them if they dont. But if you loose a woman because you refuse to kiss her butt all the time. Was she really worth having to begin with?

Thats not to say one needs to be abusive or uncooperative Or that you shouldnt do things for them. But dont allow yourself to be walked on either. Women dont put up with it. Why should you?
