I've been curious about this.
Also, does anyone one have screen shots of AH when it first came out? Planes, fields, towns, etc. Would you be willing to post side-by-side pictures of these things with what is current? Of these first planes, which one do we have that is still in that "current state" that really would benefit from a remodel? Or have they all be updated at one point? I also read in a thread that you had to run from the tower to your plane in the past. Was this true? Imagine vulches at that point, if they happened as often as they do now... :lol If it is true, did shooting the parked plane before the pilot got to it result in a death or was the plane invulnerable till the pilot made it to it?
I'd really like to see some screen shots of what AH looked like when it first came out. Aces High History. :aok

Just type .plane 1 .plane 2 exctera
It is the order they were made.

I didn't even think about the .plane 1-??? thing. :o
The K-4 was the 2nd plane made? That one surprised me a little. I'm now curious to what plane 7 was as it gave me an invalid model number... :headscratch:
Do you happen to have screen shots of what Aces High looked like when you first released it, or did you can those? I'm just curious between what we have now vs what was out then. How does it make you feel when you look at what was first introduced when you compare it to now? Does looking back at what you had then, help with what you would like to try in the future?

Yep, this is what I meant. Oh boy, could you imagine if you had to update from that CD, you know, if it would actually do it? :O

Not te very first pics of AH but pretty early still.. check out the pictorial sections under the different scenarios.

Just looked through the BoB 04...and wow, that ack looks deadly. :O Coral Sea looks crazy fun. :x Going to save that link so I can look through it later (need to get to sleep. Work early tomorrow.). Really wish I had a work schedule that would allow me to participate in those events. :cry
Just looking at those screen shots, can really see a difference with what we have now. Makes me excited to what the HTC crew has in-store for us in the future. :x

You may want to check that again. The K-4 didn't even get added until a few years ago, replacing the G-10. K-4 wasn't around in AH1, came out in AH2.

We have come a looooong way!
Although I do miss the Fw190 visibility, the P-51B lack of visibility, the map easter eggs and... to some degree yes I miss the sheep.
-
W/out double checking in game, if my memory is correct the planes we had in AH1 Beta1 were P-51D, 109G10 (our current K4), C47, La5, N1K, and I think the B-17.

Morpheus made a cool vid a few years ago called ah past and present. It has scenes from ah1 and ah2.

Argh I just realized AH can be described as 'a bunch of old gits flying cartoon planes'. I start to feel old. :old:

I'm not positive on this, but I think the coding for the 'running' to the hangar and the planes still exists, I think that you do it so quickly that it seems instantaneous.
I seem to remember an option to adjust how fast you 'run' when I first started playing this.. what.. five years ago? I just set it to max and didn't think much about it.
Of course I may be remembering wrong too.

That's probably a very early beta test screenshot. I don't recall the pony EVER looking that bad.

Both the P-51 and Spitfire got redone during AH1's run. When they were redone to AH2 standards those were the third edition graphics for them in AH. As far as I can recall those were the only two aircraft to be redone during AH1.
That said, I don't recall it ever looking that bad either, so you are likely correct about that being a beta shot.

11 year old article on AH 1.00, back when it cost 29.95 a month USD and 52$ Canadian. Great times. There are some screen shots and a list of available planes as the game was then.

Well, regardless of your "memory", it did. For quite a while as well. My CC had a monthy 52-56$ charge on it for over a year as I recall.

Speaking of, how is he doing, been a while since last update?

Wow, those old screen shots are really embarrassing! It's like looking at photos from when I was an awkward teenager.
By the way, it was 12 years ago today that HTC opened its doors.
-
You folks having an open house with an open bar??!!
-
it's been 12 years ? Oh my god...
Things i remember from alpha:
1. flying with hitech so that he could fly into me and check the collision code :)
2. dogfighting in mustangs that at the time had a B17 skin - although flight model and guns were all pony. It was a fricking riot seeing B17s scissor like crazy.

We can all agree, it's a darn good thing they decided to go for it. :x :salute
What was THE most notable thing about AH (what just drew you into it) when it first came out?
What was THE primary complaint about AH when it first came out? Game play wise I mean.
