Rolling Thunder and a few others were defending A105 last night, Frame 2. Attacked - F4Us and F46s- got to 105 and messed it up some. During the whole attack 105 never flashed once. Most of the defenders were fighting down south a bit, over the factories and southern bases, which were flashing. But 105 never flashed whole time. Someone put it out on country and a few of us headed back there and there were a bunch of enemies all over the base. Still never flashed.
Is that even possible? Isn't warnings a global setting?

Knowing what I saw and reading some other things, I think the server was lagging bad at times. That can affect things such as blinking. Maybe some others saw it blink but not you, who knows.
It was laggy enough that some planes I saw blown up right next to my B-29 just kind of hung there a split second then disappeared with no fireball or poof or death spiral.
Yeah, I blame lag.
-
Not sure I buy lag...no one saw the base blink and we were all looking at it. Lag is just that...lag. The action still occurs, it just happens at a later time. Dropped packets shouldn't cause it either because sooner or later, it would have flashed. Map glitch.. 105 flashed last frame prior to the map update.
Question is...will it flash next week?
-
Yeah, I blame lag.
Yea, we are blaming lag for this. :lol

Had to be lag or something. Can someone confirm warnings is a global setting? Can't imagine it's not.
EDIT: warnings - singular

Unintended map glitch of sorts....
Just to clarify, its not a glitch. Its the way the game is coded and happens in every arena.

Yep. Now if it flashes on player A's front-end but not for player B's, then we have a glitch...
-
To clarify, by 'glitch' I meant an unintended or unexpected result. As I understood it, as long as base A and base B are within a 48 miles of each other (twice the extended Dar ring radius), any plane that makes base A flash first can not make base B flash as long as that plane remains within base A's dar ring. I'm not sure if anyone expected that result beforehand. No harm done as long as we understand the ground rules. <S>

What is the advantage of this? It is a glitch or just an overlook in the coding.

I don't know, they didn't elaborate why, they just told us how it works.
-
Yep, it is not a terrain bug or glitch. Skuzzy told us that it is how it is supposed to work and was coded that way. They probably never considered the possibility of somebody setting the radar range that far out causing that much overlap when they originally coded the way way base under attack works.
-
I'd really like to see how one person can attack two bases at the same time. The game decides which one it thinks you're attacking based on your flight path (which base you're flying towards, how close you are, etc.)
If you get one flashing, then turn towards the one next door, both will flash until the first one decides you're no longer flying towards it.

Surely it's proximity, no? So if you're in overlapping radar rings you'll only flash the base you're closer to.
-
Actually no. What the terrain team was told when we inquired about it is that you flash the base of the first radar circle you enter. You will not start flashing another base until you leave the first base's circle. Doesn't matter if you are closer to the second base if you are still within the radar circle of the first base.
This really is the first time it has come up or is noticeable because of the 24 mile radar / base under attack range.
Basically one plane can only flash one base at a time. This is how we have been told it works, although I have not had the time to actually go and test it personally to confirm what we were told.

Ah, nice. Thank you sir.
