Please let us assign axes for controlling the GV. I like how I can still man the guns with the joystick and I like how I can assign the rangefinder (C/V) to an axis, however it just feels so gamey to use WASD and assigning those commands to my throttle HAT is not much better.
Using throttle for vehicle speed and rudders for turning would be really cool! That way, the stick would still be reserved for controlling the guns. Actually, what would be REALLY NEAT would be to let me use my split throttle to control each track. That way, I could turn right by applying full left throttle and half right throttle... or I could spin around in place by applying full left throttle and no right throttle.
I'm fine with removing the need to shift gears, and to be honest I don't have that much against the commander's position. I'm also fine with the addition of WASD type controls and mouse aiming. I completely understand why the change was made, and as a business decision I understand that isn't up for discussion here.. HOWEVER please don't punish the rest of us who actually enjoy finer, more accurate control of the GV itself. I know it's not an integral part of the game but having to press buttons to accelerate and turn really removes a huge amount of immersion that this game provides, and immersion is a big part of what draws me to love this game! And I know I'm not the only one thinking this.
I think the change that you've made is a good decision for the most part, but please re-enable the ability to assign joystick axes for throttle, brake, and steering. It' be awesome to see a throttle1 and a throttle2, one for each tread... just like how it works for engine1, engine2 etc. for airplanes...

Just like it would be gamey if you needed to step on a gas pedal to go or a brake pedal to stop.

so would it be less gamey if we needed to use dual sticks and a gas pedal to drive the tanks around?

Less gamey than WASD, yes.
Keep in mind, my proposal has nothing to do with removing the WASD commands, rather it has to do with regaining the ability to program control back into axes already present in our HOTAS setups. I don't feel it gives any kind of tactical advantage over people using WASD+Mouse and it would keep many of us happy. Also, it would eliminate the "nintendo thumb" I'm already starting to develop from operating the tank using the thumb-controlled hat switch on my throttle.

How are you guys navigating tree stands?

Ha ha that's easy. It sucked dodging iron bushes last night. Flipped twice and stopped dead making myself a beautiful target for the enemy. Rudder control back at least please? :pray

Been gone and have not seen any of the new update. Ready to get home and check it out!
I have wondered tho why the gv's couldn't have been set up like the pt boats tho. Forward and reverse button then throttle for movement speed
On the x52 you have the hat switch on the throttle that could be your directional control keys
Also if you have pedals you could set the brakes up as left and right steer since the peddles wOnt work yet
Just some thoughts
Ready to try it all out. Haven't had my AH fix, in over a week

Using throttle for vehicle speed and rudders for turning
Some of us have Steering Wheels with pedals so the grandkids can drive jeeps and PT-boats. :cry
+1 for analog throttle and steering. :pray

+1 As a gv regular, I can live with most of the changes. I'm asking for the rudder twisty/pedals ability back aswell. People who are saying your turning ability is much better with the A,D/hatswitch new system. Clearly never enjoyed gving in the first place. You should've saw me last night bouncing off hedge rows like a pinball. While navigating the town, being straffed in my m3. My thumb was spent after that LOL.

ZOMG I agree with Ivan on something! +1,0000000000 Please HTC? :pray

since most tanks are controlled that way, then, ... yes it would more realistic.

It's NINTENDO-THUMB all over again!!!

Is this DOOM or Aces High!?!?
I won't be in a gv until they add an option to control the steering with the stick.
What a bad move.

you and me both. no point learning the new system twice.

I know a guy in game that enjoyed the GVing until the WASD thing. He is disabled and WASD completely ruins his ability to GV now. He has 2 fingers on his left hand. What this patch and update didn't account for was someone with a severe disability. Much of your day time audience Monday thru Friday are disabled peeps.
:pray Please, PLEASE make some sort of adjustment to keep (or map) some of the controls to pedals, stick, & throttle.
I am already getting used to it. It doesn't bother me. While I understand that is was a "business decision", I think it was a bad "business decision" to go to WASD because the disabled are at an even more of a disadvantage in GVs now.
Having driven some of our military's GVs (USof A), I can assure you that the upgrade did make GViing a bit gamey (as previously mentioned). I love many of the enhancements and truely enjoy the commander's position as well as the lack of ability to zoom in like before in the turret. My ONLY problem (personally) is the WASD thing. I am having a hard time getting past the, "why did they do it?"
The only reason I am posting this is the guy I know doesn't want to cause a problem posting on the forums. So I thought I should speak up for him.
My wish is the one posted here on this thread. It is valid. My wish is to give more options than WASD to map.

I hate to be insensitive, but you can AWSD with one finger.
It's a moot point anyway:
The only thing that will be added is an analog control input to steer. You will be able to use either keys or rudder/stick to turn with. We are not going back to the old system. We will also be adding some display in the commanders position such as speed and gear.

Not fair if you only have one foot or one arm, which I'm sure there are players who are so "disabled" playing now.
