Why do old people fall and then are unable to get up? I don't see people falling on a regular basis, even at the old folks home.

Read and learn...

an additional factor to what is mentioned in those articles is that the ear bones thin at advanced age. These bones are already almost invisible to the naked eye and mass loss on them can and does affect sense of balance. An elderly person who has those bones thinning out can still walk but their ability to sense an instability in their balance (and thus their response time) is thrown off.

When know-it-all, annoying kids fall, it's probably because I pushed them :old:

here's one for you penguin...if you lost both arms or just the use of them, how would you wipe, or would you?
-
I wouldn't be able to, I just didn't know why old people fell so much. Why do people flame me for asking questions? How does it make me a know-it-all? If I knew everything, why would I need to ask questions?
-Penguin
-
Because they're old and frail. :huh

If you didn't need to know everything, would you then not ask questions?

Take your pick: balance issues, frail bones (osteoporosis), joint mobility (arthritis), loss of muscle tone, etc., etc., etc...
The truest words my ninety-one year old Mother-in-law ever said to me were, "This getting old business is not for the faint of heart!"
-
Ouch, your mother-in-law has a point! Thanks for answering another one of my questions, folks.

He landed quite a few in a relative short amount of time.

It was a legitimate question, why do you think I was trolling?

Seems like whenever you hear of an old friend of the family falling, it often times results 2 weeks later as pneumonia and death.

Much of the time, going into a hospital might as well be a death sentence for the elderly, or at least it seems like it. The majority that I have known who have gone in have not come out. They usually don't die (ostensibly, I suppose) of the same problem they went in to treat, either.
-
I'm beginning to think that bones break or weaken enough to CAUSE many falls by the elderly instead of just being the result of falls for unknown reasons.
-
maybe its the stupid questions that get you lit up brighter than a christmas tree
-

Maybe the little smiley face or perhaps the fact that you seem to take up the opposite opinion of the OP almost without fail. Of course it could just be that the majority or the crowds is just cynical about stupid questions.
-
My dad falls once or twice a week.
-
Old people often have respiratory problems, diabetes, heart and vascular problems etc.
A lot of the falls are from dizziness and passing out.
-
QED.

The reason that I disagree with the OP almost without fail is that I usually only post in threads where I disagree with the OP. Sometimes I do agree, but those posts are in the minority because I spend much of the time that I spend here defending my positions.

The real reason old people fall is because they want attention. In a related story my great grandmother, at the age of 90, was dragged by a bus for several blocks as the result of the bus driver mistakenly closing the door on her leg while she was boarding. She was in relatively good shape at the time but suffered a broken hip. Later that night when my great grandfather visited her in the hospital, rather than direct her anger at the bus driver, she bashed my great grandfather over the head with her bed pan because he was too cheap to buy her a car.

Because this is information that is widely available to you on the internet. You could have simply googled that exact question and you would have gotten all of the info you need on the subject. The fact that you chose to ask us instead (and wait minutes or hours for a response instead of a few tenths of a second) makes your post suspect.
Now if you were asking our opinions on something specific it may be different, but what you asked for is really nothing more than factual data.

Since there are no emoticons associated with this statement, I assume you are serious and I'll kindly ask you to pass the pipe to me, next.
My name is not Skip, nor is this a tennis game and, if it was, I am certainly not the net.

If true, refrain from posting here or you may suffer hemorrhage in germinal matrix, furthermore, in teenagers, reading the O'Club posts may cause globe luxation.

Who is old? I am 17. I started playing this game at the age of 6. And yes, I did use my own credicard :neener:
-
I am pretty sure they fall because they cant do the balancing act (position) as good as they used to when they were young. I am pretty sure that's the #1 cause of broken bones on the elderly.

You really thought that a good enough clip to post?
Just out of curiosity, at what point after hearing that the backing track is overdriven into mush, did your brain tell your fingers to post the link anyway?

Cause it gave me a good laugh, which you could really use.

I laugh aplenty when I think about you sitting on your roof in an aluminum lawn chair during a thunderstorm.
But seriously, how could you stand to listen to that clip through it's entirety?

Good point, I stopped after it got annoying when it repeated rapidly, It was more funny in the beginning then I turned it off. Sorry for my disrespect, i'm know to have a short fuse sometimes.

You might try it before you ask us here on a forum for a online flight sim.
