Title: Why PM's are Lame

  I don't want to break any rules so the Lame ones will remain anonymous. I also will say that PM's can be ok if you want to discuss a legitimate issue. However most respectable people will just air their displeasure on 200.
  Not so for two Lame teamates. They decided to address me in tandem after I had a kill on one of them. Note that earlier in an engagement pilot 1 attempted a head on shot at the first merge that I avoided. I usually lose in the head on so I usually will try to avoid. So later by myself and up against both pilots with #2 covering his mentor #1 (a totally legitimate combat procedure) I was getting the worst of it, smoking, aileron out, ect. I attempted to land at the closest V-base on this certain Island and #1 wants to claim his prize. Run? No way. Stupidly I turned to face certain death here he comes and I unload what ammo was left. I watched as his F4 plummeted to earth in a fireball no doubt ruining a great scoring run.  :neener:
  Now I had gotten killed by #1 many times and never would cry about it as I try to get better at this GAME with my limited time I get to play. They PM me in tandem and I try to show their lameness to the community by calling them out on 200 (without naming them) but #1 and his #2 remained silent on 200 (though they talked to others previously). The extent of their PM's were just to call me names as they that have no brains will instead of having a conversation.
   People will leave a Community if too many in it are disrespectable. Lucky for us I think they are few and thank those that realize AH is a computer GAME but there are people on the other end.  :salute

  I looked over the rules and can't find that #17.  :headscratch:

 I do think someone will claim "Rule #4" was broken but this was intended to remind that AH is only a Game in the big scheme of things. Something I too had forgoten at one point myself.  :noid

Most all PMs that I receive are from folks just wanting to talk about planes or a recent fight. Extremely rare for one to be derogatory at all.

Just report them, that is what the function is there for. If HTC gets enough reports on these clowns they will take care of them, especially if they may drive customers away with their antics.

I never found a game which has that much civilized and mature people in it compared to all other games I have played. A very wrong PM, whine or insult here and there are the most unexpected events to occur in it. If you can name me another game as fun and as mature as this one or better, point it to me because I don't know it yet!

So, just don't play along with stupid PMs because - and I quote from whom I don't remember "Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience".

I thin kPMs are better. On 200 everyone is playing to the audience which make the comminication overly hostile and sarcastic. In PMs people are truer to themselves, and there is no need to drag everyone in on your disputes. 200 never ends well.  :salute

I never found a game which has that much civilized and mature people in it compared to all other games I have played. yeah some things never change. When I kill that one I usually turn film on for epic LOLs and forwarding to HTC. I think he gets perma-muted every once and a while.

I guess in a way I wanted the cowards to read this as I know they troll the BBS.
Just report them, that is what the function is there for. If HTC gets enough reports on these clowns they will take care of them, especially if they may drive customers away with their antics.
I didn't want to go to HTC for one incident. They may change their ways if they are embarrassed for their childishness.
I'll PM when I don't want to burden channel 200 listeners....and the morons respond on channel 200!

Some will use PM's to intimidate as these two pilots tried to with me. Challenging them to bring it to 200 would spoil their game you see and expose them.

If I'm smoking 2v1 I'll just drag my pursuit around friendly ack till they burn *gasp* :confused:  "Weak" you say? Noted. If they couldn't finish me before I can get out of a bad spot they don't deserve the kill. If that La7 or Spixteen chases my jug in a circle through friendly ack for 5 min and gets flamed they are just plain dumb and deserve the experience of virtual natural selection. :angel:  I don't turn to HO, it downs the chance of survival and pisses them off at you even more because they can blame you for their demise vice their own stupidity and hence a shorter whine on 200.

as annoying as it is sometimes, i never detune any channel, nor do i mute anyone. it's up to me whether or not i wish to respond, and there's ALWAYS a chance of getting some good conversation on there.

Owned a K4 in a P39 this evening, immediately got a pm and the kid wouldn't shut up for about 10 minutes about how he almost had me, he only died cause he screwed up, he wasn't used to using the keyboard for views, he lost me for a second, rolled the wrong way, lol.

Was pretty sad yet funny.

This reminds me... Our Clubs Camaro Carshow is this Saturday. Any of you folks want to meet this ol' coot come on by. It is on the Kemah Boardwalk in Kemah, Texas.

The show benefits Kidz Harbor. The folks at Kidz Harbor offer a stable home for kids from broken homes. They do a really great job. Last years show raised $3500.00.

I PM when I'm faced with a guy who bails as I get near after climbing 30k feet or stirs stick to induce micro warps.

I do this not to burden the rest of the arena population yet these chumps just have to respond on 200.

They are like the loud cell phone conversationalist walking around the video store aisles.

no clue ask him.....but "warps" have absolutely nothing to do with how fast you move your stick(which is what causes that message).....and every thing to do with your CPU processing power...and internet connection.

INK, even though that is true, it does not mean you can not induce mini warps by stick stirring.  Updates from your FE and server are timed (used to be every 250ms, have not checked in a few years).  If you change direction several times in that time interval there is only so much the smoothing code can do.  Add yours and his internet connection to it and you have a very big window to do it.  Best candidates are the fast rolling planes although it works with others.  The way I understand it, if I was writing the smoothing code, I would be looking to predict your next location based on the current variables.  If you "faked" me out by changing direction drastically several times between updates I would have to adjust to where you are and not to where my code thought you would be and that would create a mini warp.  HT has done a good job at smoothing things, but there is only so much you can do.

I believe it has to do with flaky sticks spiking their inputs - be it dirty components or bad port on the PC - which can also be duplicated by "moving your controller too fast".  To the game, the cause cannot be seen...only the result; thus the standard warning and temporary freezing of further inputs.

As far as "stick-stirring to induce intentional mini-warps", dedalos answered that quite nicely.

ahhh I can understand that.

 I have had a couple 190's do some crazy stick stirring, but I didn't see any warps.  just someone really desperate not to get shot down.

I don't see it as often as a few years ago either, but I do see it once in a while.  Probably the right connection and stick input sequence is required.
