Hello all,
I just recently found out that my niece might be flying AH in the Dueling Arena. I talked to her on the phone, and I thought she said she flies the Tempest at the lake and lands a lot of 2-kill sorties. I asked her to give me some tips, but she is a little slow and still has a lisp that she hasn’t outgrown yet, even though she is 9-years-old.
I think she said her call-sign is Skylar or Airlove or something like that, but again it was hard to understand her clearly. If you happen to see her on, please do congratulate her – not just for her flying skills, but also that she came in 6th out of twelve students in her second grade spelling bee. It’s great because she was held back a year and really needed a confidence boost beyond her abilities in the DA.
At any rate, if any of you Tempest pilots have ideas on what might make her so good in it, please post.

:huh oh that explains a lot...wait, are you sure you're not skylove's shade?
no offense but...just ask anyone who spends a lot of time at furball lake and they will tell you...it's not much of a secret how skylove gets the 2 kill sorties in the tempest...pure and simple picking.
-
Tempest: So easy a 9 year old with a lisp can do it.
-
:rofl good stuff
-
Don't tell me skylove
-
Guylove is a 9 yr old girl? Seems like bait to me.
-
Haha! Nice post. :aok
-
Epic lulz. The judges award the OP 10 internets.
-
Ok say you have a spit and and 109 engaged the spit goes up to engage and goes verticle the Tempest appears out of abyss and gets a perfect shot on the top of the plane... Dead Temp runs off and repeats. TEMP TARDS
-
SIG! :rofl
-
Oh my God! That explains a lot. Now that makes sense.
If I had not known any better I could have been led to believe that Foxone and Skylove were practicing for the MA. That’s if they ever flew in the MA to earn enough perk points to fly a Temp in the MA. And if you could use outside view in the MA. Those things aside I always hoped to see them in the MA. Funny that.
No, you’re wasting your time. English is a very distant second language to both of them, so any instruction “TEMPTARD” or PM you may give them is lost in translation. They don’t understand or care. It’s their $15.00 (1,200 Yen) and they’ll play just the way the want to – thank you very much.
As it was told to me they are refugees from Fighter Ace and were held in equal regard in there. And they don’t get bored easily. They can keep this going for months. Years even. And they play on different sides so either of them can get a kill on anyone in the DA.
But they always say WTG to each other when either lands his obligatory 2 kills. So no amount of abuse or suggestion is going to change them, and they will be a constant presence as long as outside views and free Temps are allowed in the DA.
There you go.
-
:rofl I've not encountered these two yet. What time do they normally fly on Threeup? :salute
-
Hi Shida – haven’t seen you for a while :salute
It would be GMT+8 onwards especially Saturday and Sunday morning my time.
Warm up that KI – you can go Temp hunting.
All the best.

Wow Kingpin, your niece is wise beyond her years. I had her pegged for at least 13-1/2, just based on her complete apathy towards gamesmanship and dedication to rebelling against the establishment.
Having young teens myself, I adore the way she take off behind her field and grabs ~10K before venturing out of the ack. It's cute how she eyeballs all the planes fighting each other then blows through at 500MPH squeezing the trigger for 10 seconds straight at any and all red dots. Of course, immediately diving for the deck and running back to her base after spraying all those mean boys is a sure sign that she's almost brave enough to engage someone that isn't already fighting someone else... someday.
You might want to remind her to spaz a little more on the joystick when she's running back home. Remember, if she's seeing anything beyond a little eyehole surrounded by red or black, she's not doing it right.
I sure hope she continues to entertain us with those cute little interruptions. It's just a shame that the Tempest only carries enough rounds for her to land those famous "2 victories", since every awkward preteen girl longs to hear the words "wtg".

Ah yes the 'Tempest paradigm' at Furball Lake, priceless. Those little System messages that confirm they are great and skillful for all the world to see and which no one can deny. The 'I killed you therefore I am right' epitome of a results-centred culture. The shortest path between desire and results, endlessly looping through a furball to get 'kills' at very little to no risk to themselves. Twenty four virtual cylinders of skill working away to escape any remotely threatening situation. Perhaps before extending as little as 1.2k for a gentle high Yo-Yo and another HO attempt, if they are feeling particularly brave.
There is a very small handful of skilled Tempest pilots who don't fly like this but few and far between they are. Kingpin, I mean Kingpin's niece (I probably mean that), is simply a protypical example. What a relief we have the Tempest in there so that these griefers, I mean highly skilled and motivated fans of the dogfight can show us what they are made of.
All hail the biggest ruiner of other people's fights and time ever grace the skies of the furball lake. Those about to be picked :salute you.

skylove's tempest is the easiest plane to kill in the DA :airplane:
he makes the mistake of after diving to attempt to pick, he'll try to pull straight up into a loop instead of doing the normal pick dive&run technique.
which usually leaves him hanging right in your gunsights for a few seconds.
he also seems to ignore anyone on his six, was winchester one day, thought i'd tail him just to scare him a bit, he just kept flying straight even tho he had a plane 400 off his 6 :huh
i contemplated attempting to collide with him.

skylove couldn't fight his/ her way out of wet Kleenex. I enjoy watching him/her barreling down on my 6 while entering Earth's atmosphere at Mach 25 and just about 800 out a quick barrel roll turns the tables and he/her gets lit up like a Christmas tree.
Now go play in traffic like a good tempy pilot. :joystick:

You cruel and heartless b*****d Fudmukkr, that's a 9 year old girl you are torturing there. Think of her development as a human being and future long-term Aces High player. Can't you just fly straight and level and help her achieve her goal of two kills for the sake of humanity? Get with the programme, if you're not flying a Tempest you are a Tempest target drone and nothing more.
I am going to post on the wishlist immediately to suggest the minimum number of kills needed for a System Victories Landed message be reduced to 1 when flying a Tempest.

Hey gents,
Good news. Turns out my niece isn't the one flying Tempests at the lake landing two-kill sorties, after all. What she had actually said was that they had gone to the “DENTIST by mistake” and that "gramma didn't understand it wasn't til two-forty.” Sorry about the confusion on this. I guess it's a good thing, given some of the negative feedback about the Tempest in the DA.
She does fly Aces High, though. But I’d be really surprised if someone of her age and intelligence couldn’t actually land at least 3 per sortie.
/sarcasm
p.s. Thanks for all the comments. Never would have known about BBS Warrior Trading Cards, otherwise. Funny stuff.

You mean the only responces other than my OP on-topic? :rofl OK, sure :aok

“DENTIST by mistake”, "A TEMPEST at the Lake". Yes that sounds like a perfectly plausible miscommunication. :noid
The negative comments aren't about the aircraft specifically but rather towards the way they end up being used. Unfortunately the unlimited availability at the lake, its monster speed, resilience to damage and heavy armament tempt some players to take the shortcut of exploiting the planes more obvious attributes in place of all that tedious learning ACM business. It's an obvious solution in a overly results focussed culture.
The objection is that many players spend a lot of time learning ACM and testing their skills in actual dogfights, only to have those fights ruined by one or more Tempests barrelling flat out through a furball or even just a two plane fight, to shoot anything that falls into their gunsight.
Wasting other player's time, over and over again, and then worst of all talking smack about it or proudly landing 'victories' is likely to make you unloved, shall we say.

Bothered by a tempests in DA? Why not up a temp, hunt these guys down to the limit of their frustration and have a great laugh... I mean, instead of crying here about it. I know those Temps really are annoying and I have had my share of spoiled dogfights, but there is a simple solution to this - shoot them down!
-
It's remarkable that an articulated objection, and not even a very strenuous one at that, can be construed as 'crying' these days.

Yeah, that'll fix it. Put more Tempests in the air :huh

I am kind of new so please help me understand. How do you catch and kill a Tempest 20K over you that is determined to not engage?

Form a DA squadron that's mission statement pertains to hunting down aircraft flying above a certain altitude in tempests and p51ds. Call it The Air Marshals.

I do that sometime's, kinda depends on how many are out! If ya'll see me in a Tempest/Typhoon Im only on the hunt for the same breed, and there is no respect givein! (man, just don't likem, always ruining good fights regardless if win or lose) and If ya'll see me land kill's in a Tempest-their all Tempest kill's!
Most of the time I let my 9 year old Corgi named Stumpy do the dirty Tempest work for me! lol Misfire out,

-go knit.
-go to bomber field 35.
-fly from there to furball lake.
-fly towards any plane above 10k to tempt them to attack.
- shoot them down with ease.
- patrol the 10k line in buffs scaring all the tempy/dweeb16s back down to respectable alts.
thats what i did, actually worked for awhile. i remember the first time i upped buffs i came in at 12. had 2 temps and 5 spits above me (all were 16s cept for one which was an 8)
pretty much all of them dove on me, but was able to fight them all off to the loss of only 1 buff. after that not many people would come about 10k unless they had the sole purpose of engaging my buffs.
i didnt bomb fields, or anything like that, i upped buffs in protest of the dweeb16's and in a way i won ;)
just up a formation of b29s and patrol the 10k line. spits are absolutly terrified of it. and even tempys second guess attacking them. youll be the baddest terror above 10k :t :airplane:

Not sure if out-dweebing them is the best course of action.
Ostracizing in the BBS and the chat buffer on the other hand... :aok

...really? You honestly believe their enjoyment of the game is in any way impacted by what the people they shoot down think of them?
I have my doubts, to put it mildly.
Doing something that directly impacts their gameplay is about the only thing they will notice in any way.
Wiley.

simon, not sure you saw me when i flew buffs in the DA. ;)
the only people who didnt like it was the spit dweebs&tempys. i never drove my buffs straight through a furball to interupt. or bombed anything (except oncE)
i'd just fly the outline of the lake at 12k announcing that there were buffs up and anyone who wanted to test there bomber attacking skills are free to come up and take a shot.
some people liked my buffs up, it was a mutual thing. i got to work on my gunnery. and they got to practise on assaulting formations.
i dont fly them in there anymore tho. i feel that buff gunning has been ruined for mouse users since the patch (even tho HTC claims the old way has been restored)
and the FF have been taking b29s above 20k&bombing DA bases, so i'd rather not be mistaken as part of that crowd.

Thanks, nrshida. I’m glad you were able to see the humor in a simple lampooning of the tempy use in the DA. Sort of a verbal version of one of Fugi's good cartoons.
People are certainly entitled to climb onto the lowest rung of the ladder and stay there, if they wish, without having to dare to climb any higher. But when they start shouting “look at me”, without knowing how foolish they look standing at the bottom of the ladder, then I believe it should be pointed out -- for their sake at first (which in this case is wasted) and then at least as a source of amusement for others who know it for what it is. So, again, I appreciate it if you found the post amusing.

I thought the OP was a funny one....... had all kinds of little hooks on it. One end was tied to a tree limb and the other had a brick on it. :D
