Title: Aces High Trainer Corps
Post by: Rolex on June 26, 2011, 08:53:16 PM
I'm going to fill a couple of slots in the AH Trainer Corps.

Through the years, some of the most respected members of the AH community (with the exception of me...) have been members of the Aces High Trainer Corps. If you feel like you have the ability, patience and motivation to contribute as a member of the team, now is the time to let me know.

If you'd like to be considered, the first step is to send me a private message explaining how and why you can contribute to the team. We expect you to be competent and experienced in more than one facet of the game, and not just an expert in one plane. Make sure you include your time zone and are able to communicate using vox.

Here's to the Trainers! If it wasn't for them I'd have worn a much bigger hole in that brick wall of mine. :bhead

I would like to commend them on contributing their personal time to improve the game for the rest of us.

I would like to say they made me what I am today... but they haven't...... which is good for them because I'm terrible at this game. :D

I plan to keep this thread open for a few more days. Thank you to all who have written so far. Please don't expect a personal reply immediately.

Yeager: those traits are usually set in a person by family and social environment before they start playing the game.  ;)

Hey, shouldn't we include the most important criteria that qualify a person?  Or should those remain a secret?  ;)

Professional child care experience is not a requirement. That's just a myth.

True true, but it would be nice to put the real requirements out here for people to know.  I guess if they are a secret, that is fine, but posting only half and the ones that really don't matter that much can mislead some people.  :old:

I'm not sure if they have changed or not, dedalos but they used to be the following minimal requirements to be considered for possible recruitment to the AH Training Staff

Minimal Requirements:
-at least 21 yrs of age , but preferably older
-at least 3 years in Aces High game & AH Community
-knowledgeable in the certian aspects of Aces High and ability to pass on knowledge to players ( basic flight, setup controls, vox setup )
-A person who wants to help and is after no recgonition ( if you just looking for a pedistal or "Look at ME" tag / name in lights then this is not for you )
-well received by the AH Community ( does not include Little side groups that attack individual players or have grudges )
-No Bad History on the message boards ( flamers / fight pickers etc... )

used to be something along these lines....... but they may have changed....... don't hold me to this  :old:

also, usually the one's who ask or volunteer in public would always be the ones put at the bottom of any list, if their was a list....

(edit: these were the guidelines that was laid out when I became invited as a Trainer and also was the guidelines that other Head Trainers as well as I,  used when we were in Rolex's position )

Rolex posted the requirements. If you believe he left something out why not say what you think it is instead of posting baseless insinuations?

or Rolex is just looking for a list of potentials and if someone who bothers to PM Rolex, is worth looking at, then Rolex will use his guidelines that he chooses to determine if a individual meets Rolex's minmal requirements

these minimal requirements that I posted are from past history......

it really is up to each individual Head Trainer at the current time....... ( their has only been 4 different Head Trainers since the inception of AH training staff, and one of those 4, filled the role twice )

just saying......  I don't see a disagreement btw.. I just see 2 different ways the subject is being viewed  :aok

edit: btw, I am not trying to answer for Rolex, I am simply giving my opinion

I deliberately made this announcement simple and general to see how the people who respond think. Are they able to anticipate what information should be included and can they present it well? Those are important skills for what we do. If someone is not sophisticated enough to understand that, they are not going to be a good fit as a trainer.

I'm trying to open up the process. This gives us more people to draw upon if more openings occur in the future.

Thanks to all the people who responded.

Yeah, baseless  :roflr You can tell TC knows what I am talking about but something was not transferred to him correctly or he may not remember.

OK so they taught you in school the definition of baseless, but have they taught you the defintion of insinuate, perpetuate or pretentious yet?  You actually need to learn everything before you know everyhting.

He's following the rules, the ones just requested and stated for all to see, despite how hard you try and how much effort you'll spend on comprehending this, he will not engage directly in your forum shinanigans or baseless debate.

I'm calling your bluff, what specificaly is your concern or issue against the requirements?  Man up or step away from trolling the thread.

I have no idea what you're going on about, dedalos. I thought your first few posts were jokes, as if there really is some secret ritual or rite of passage. If you don't write using sarcasm, people have a better chance of understanding what you're trying to say.

Just to clarify a few things:

1. There are no secret requirements.
2.  The old method of selecting new people was done by trainers nominating people they thought would be good trainers, then everyone discussed the positives and negatives of the skills and demeanor of the people nominated. Then, a decision was made. Nothing sinister and no secrets.
3. I'm taking this route because I'd like to see who's motivated, and I'm sure there are some motivated and qualified people that I don't know personally from the game. I'm going to have an interview process, which has not been done before.
4. Since you have not sent me a PM to volunteer your time and energy, I don't understand how this thread affects you, or what right you think you have to criticize this process.

I don't have the time or motivation to go back and forth on this anymore.  ;)

Thanks to all the people who sent me a message. There are some excellent candidates.

I'll be contacting some of you by the end of next week (July 8th) to set up a time for us to meet and talk over vox.

I don't think I'll be able to send everyone a personal reply, but please know that your submission was appreciated. If you don't hear from me by July 8th, I'll keep your information available for future openings.

Dedalos when you state that the trainers have secret requirements without providing a basis for your accusations then you are making, by definition, a baseless claim.

There is no requirement to prove that something doesn't exist. The burden is on you to support your allegation.
