I think this was discussed in a thread some time ago.

I'd love to see the gun camera footage of this.

I'll have to check through my footage... but I have a similar manuver 110 vs Zero that was absolutely brutal.  It started w/ a near HO merge but ended w/ a snaproll 180 w/ taters out front.  I love watching it with the ribbons turned on.   :airplane:

Joach1m I like those but they're more of flick it and hope the nose follows the perfect path. The tailslide I did is able to be controlled.

I would be interested to hear you describe the control inputs to do that Krup.

Pull up in a slight right turn, when plane reaches 120mph flick ailerons to the left and reduce to 50% throttle. Use rudder and throttle after that to point the nose where you want it to go. Plane should easily recover if done correctly.

in my opinion no tailslide is controlled, it can only be altered.

I could do a similar move in the F6F, spit 16, and RV8 but nothing I would be able to control enough to be of that much use, but I guess it's more of a desperate maneuver anyways. Other than tail slides, the only trick move I use in combat is the Cobra maneuver. It works best in the spit 16 but you can also do it in the F6F. Start off below 300 mph level, all in one motion go full right rudder, full back elevator, and use neutral to right aileron to control the maneuver. With a lot of time to perfect it the plane will quickly enter a 90+ degree angle of attack, and then by pushing the stick forward it will hopefully regain a normal AoA. However, if you pull back too long you'll start going backwards and lose any control. I would say the whole move lasts about 4-5 secs. While using this I've had the plane go from about 280 mph down to 150 in a few seconds, which could be useful if you have an enemy on your 6.

basically spinning to kill all your E?
Title: Re: wow... nice trick
Post by: F6Fraven on September 11, 2011, 06:43:01 PM
No, it's not a spin or a cartwheel or anything, it's one controlled motion if you get it right. The AoA increases to about 90+ degrees and then levels out again, so by the end of the move you basically stay at the same alt you started.

Yea, it's easiest at lower speeds so try it around 200 mph first. I have a film of it on multiple occasions but I don't know how to post it on here.

No theory, do it at 200 :aok

I will say this ....his continued messing with the FM eventually got the FM changed.......for every one.

The flight modeling in AW was primitive compared to AH and IIRC the spindweeb was flying in RR and exploiting the limitations of the FM. Doing a vertical snap roll may not be your best move in AH but I don't see how it's gamey. The OP was about a similar but real event in WW2.

Well you may have had your own version in RR, I didnt go there much, at all really.  In FR the guy used an FW.

You mean the CGI version on dogfights? Some guncam or something anything other than say so to support that move? Can this manuver be accomplished on MFS?

Keep it up,

and if I remember correctly his  game cpid was  Wu    ( and I may be wrong here, but I believe he was(is) Soup's  son??? )

he could fly the heck out of those FW190's though.........

doing controlled spins was like riding a bike........  they are not that hard to do in aces high either........ if you practice it

you can throw a plane in to a spin, and stop it at any point in time  1/4 turn ,  1/2 turn ,  3/4 turn,  etc...to like 2 turns

stop the turn and fly out at whatever direction one desires.........

just saying

TC
