It was nice for awhile.
Bish CVs are being taken out of the game and hidden in the farthest reaches of the LW map.........Again.
Just assuming that the Very Very childish squad is back to being Bish again.
Didn't seem to happen for quite a while.
Wasn't there talk about having to be on board the task force or at least in the same sector as the task force in order to take AND maintain control of it??
I've seen some incredibly childish behavior in this game and these boards (including this post). But taking CVs OUT OF THE GAME???
All I can say is Wow!!!!
Pathetic.
-
Yes! They're back on Bish! I've missed them so....
-
LOL....ok, I'll bite....who??

LOL....ok, I'll bite....who??
im gonna guess the vtards.

Well, i was in a 190 a5 on the deck, doing 250mph. There came the 15k 4hog and kept BnZing on me... for like 5 mins, without any willing for a turnfight... finally he hoed me down.
Guess who was it (AKAK must know : )
-
Why would a 190 want to turn fight we he didn't have too ? So your displeased the guy flew his plane correctly ? :headscratch:
-
sigh
Why would a low 190 a5 wanna turn with a high f4u4?
Couse its more fun then flying straight and ho, thats why
:aok
Why would a high f4u4 turn with the 190a5 instead of run and ho?
Couse 1: its totally risk-less 2: in a ho you risk to get killed 3: its homo thats why.
:aok
-
The vGuys are only spoiling the fun for Bish doing that :P therefore, I don't care

Debrody was in the 190 and was willing to turn fight in it against the F4. The F4 I guess thought it was better to HO.
-
I noticed the CVs hiding at the far reaches of the map a few nights ago. I tried moving them the 15+ sectors back to the front, but my score was not sufficient :joystick:

I still think a timer tied to CV and it's port could do wonders for gameplay without restricting basic strategy or tactics. When the port is gone, you have two or three hours to get it back... else the CV get's captured automatically.
That would keep from CV's being taken out of the game for a week on some maps.

I agree...

Best way to defend a port.........keep CV there. I never understood pulling the CV away. :headscratch:

Because if you place the CV behind the continent, 20 sectors away from any frontline, you don't have to bother with defending the port anymore. If you keep it at port, it could get sunk and captured.
And often the "keep the CV at port" strategy is taking it out of the game too. I had many a quarrel with guys trying to stop me from using a CV offensively *gasp*... even when the carrier's homeport was hardly in danger to get captured at all.

At least they weren't hiding them. They might have been sitting next to the port, but they were in play.
I think it's time to start shouting on 200: 'Hey, Why is there a CV in #,#,# which is 20 sectors away?' then we should have a someone take control of it and watch who takes it away from them and turns it's course back, then we can yell on 200 as followup: "Hey (insert name), why are you hiding the CV @ #,#,#? It's way out of game play." This would make them open to ridicule of the highest form, and then their lame attempt would also be blown away cause their CV ain't being hidden no more.
Personally, I find it funny that this behavior on Bish stopped when alot of people went Rook, then resumed when they returned. I don't believe in multiple coincidences. :old:

I was so frustrated with that squads childish behavior one night, I did almost exactly what you are proposing.
I was chat AND text banned for a week or so.
Something needs to be done, but my guess is that "something" will be nothing.

For what reason does something need to be done? I say nothing needs to be done.

I believe it has to do with the fact that most players don't move the CV like this. But certain people/groups do and it is becoming an issue, at least for some who view it more or less as stealing an airbase and making it useless (which is basically what it does)
I remember people doing this before, but it wasn't all the time and people wouldn't do it for too long. Now it's prevalent and those who perpetrate such events keep them there as long as possible.
If it was as common as a blue moon once again, no one would care this much, but it's not. It's as certain each day as the sun rising in the east.
Alot of the supporters are individuals who are level headed, trying to diswade many of the ideas and squash meaningless issues before they grow. Now they support the need for change pretaining to this issue and have offered resolutions or supported those made. Maybe that should hold more weight than many of these posts.
-
I believe in the past HTC and crew have expressed displeasure with those that ruin missions for their own side by announcing them on 200. I believe that extends to the cv issue and may be why 1boner was muted.
I don't agree with what you are describing (hiding the CV), but sometimes it's just wandering, not in play, it's not hurting anybody, and some times it is being moved to set up some mission later on, and you've just blown 2 hours of prep time to get the cv in place.
I'm not saying that's the case, but I'm saying it is done. You have to be sure whatever your would-be solutions are that they do not impact those that legitimately want to use CVs in multiple numbers of ways. Maybe not the way you would, but legitimate ways nonetheless.

Perhaps he should be heeded...

On yesterdays LW map there is a thin patch of ocean at the very top of the map.
Its no coincedence that 3 or 4 CVs were up there, hours and hours from any action at all.
-
I've expressed my :bhead about hiding CVs before.
Something needs to be done but I dont know about a timer. Maybe have Strat supply ships that
leave from home port and head to the CV group.
Gives some bread crumbs to follow and a reason to fly reconnaissance missions.

I don't think this would be a practical "solution" in context of this thread's topic.
But beyond that I do very much like your general idea of supply ships steaming to the fleet in regular intervals. Apart from being helpful in reconnaissance for the enemy fleet, they could make great additional targets and add another variety to the gameplay.
-
The supply idea has been around alot. Delerium seems to like it as well.
-
The problem with supply ships, or extra fleets for that matter is all the extra data that must be update very often to plot the locations of the fleets. From what I have read here before it is high enough to become a real problem. That's why the number of fleets allowed on maps is as low as it is.
-
It would also be a strong reason to add the BEAUFIGHTER :D
Hijack mode off. I reason it would be very hard to hide a CV if you had that trail behind you.

Yet they used to have trains all over the countryside.
-
Trains were on a set course with set timing. They always went to the same point. For cv's they would have to travel to a point the cv wasn't s yet.

Ahhhh HiTech could figure out a solution...I Believe

It would also be quite realistic.
My grandfather was on a tanker in the South Pacific. USS Monongahela (AO-42) 10 battle stars
He has told me on more than one occasion that he felt safer when caught up in battle when with the entire fleet than when they were alone, steaming to resupply the fleet or when sent away deliberately, due to an upcoming battle. When they were served steak & eggs for breakfast, they knew the doo-doo was going to hit the fan.
He said that the worst was when they were alone, with only a small escort (and their own guns) to protect them.
With a max speed of 16.5 knots, carrying max load of 133,000 barrels of a variety of different fuels, it took them almost 5 miles to do a complete about-face to head the opposite direction, so maneuvering during battle was all but useless.
When not with the main fleet and in a small group, they were nearly invisible to spot but if spotted, it made for a long day..

correction: it's pretty good at angles fighting, big difference :aok
and in no way shape or form does it come close to a F4U4, so your point is moot either way
-
^-- this. Doc, the standard F4Us are easy mode turn planes since their remodel, but the -4 is the super easy model. It is the spit16 if other F4Us are spit5's....
-
turns out to be veteran players hiding CV's for the knits, and berating me for trying to put them in action. something should be done about it, these CVs have been hidden behind the continent for days. it's not noobs doing it either. pathetic.
-
Ya tried Irish, Im on board with you, my score wasnt low enough to keep control and get them back fighting :salute
-
It amazes me that HTC continues to ignore this practice that is massively unpopular. Oh wait. Scratch that, I'm not amazed.
-
It might be a coding issue.
Some of you guys are a bit harsh with your words, all over a game. :headscratch:

Ya wanna hear "harsh" words???
Go try to re-route those CVs to another area of the map, then you'll hear some harsh words.
-
The only reason I can think of to have a high rank is to take command of a hidden cv and send it back to the fight. Oh the shrieking of the ninnies would be priceless. You probably get people cussing you out on vox... I might play for rank this month for once!
-
I still say there needs to be support convoys that can be tracked, assaulted, and attrition put on CV's that will eventually lead to them popping back to port because they've starved to death. Not only does it give Jabbos something to hunt, and make Hiding CV's completely worthless, but it also would give a great mission for the PBY I hear they're adding.
-
I think from what I've read so far, I get the impression that convoys etc. may be a little too complex a solution.
I'm diggin on the timer idea.
I think if you start getting into tracking convoys etc. it would lead to a whole nother side of the game.
Dare I mention it???
Ok........Subs.
But I give the BIG thumbs up to the timer idea for now. Seems like a rather simple solution. For now.
-
id like to see a cv slowerly rebuild itself at a port. Kinda like that old game Raid on Bungling Bay. You could bomb it while its being built and slow down its build time.
-
It might be a coding issue.

LOL! Yeah, they can figure out how to code an entire flight and land battle sim but can't figure this out?
Did I mention that I LOL'd?

Why don't we all just join this squad and be one big bad arse posse =!!! That would so rock dude :rock
