Well guys, it was fun during the first couple of months, but for the last 8 to 10 months, all the hypocritical, egotistical, holier than thou,
I am gods gift to AH, BS that Ive have been noticing, with not just a few but a majority of people, my account has expired and I must say
that I am none to sad or regretful. I thinks its really sad that all of us, everyday other day or so, are always encountering idiodic people on
the streets of our daily lives, then come home looking forward to a little fun and relaxation just to encounter not just everyother day but
everyday or night, 10 times the number of people you meet otherwise.
I am 38 years old and have lived in over 10 states in my life from the west to the east, north to south, and have associated with many
types of ethnical backgrounds. Well, out of everything that was just said, I have never encountered so many, at one time, in a single area,
than here in AH.
AH, you have done a phenominal job with the tools of everyday technolgical gaming and will say that this was definately the best combat
flight sim I have played online. <S>
I wish my squadies the best of luck <S> to VF10 Screamin' Demons and their "REAL" history!
To the rest..........<---shakes head with an exasperated sigh---> <S> and God Help the World
You may reply if you want but when I log AH and the cookies for website will be deleted so the disussion will be between yourselves. Although I already know how that will end........lol
-
I agree with your first paragraph and most likely will follow you in the next month or so but for different reasons. but I'll be back eventually hopefully as soon as I relocate :salute.

its like this in all MMOs. AH is just a little worse because of all channel and the fact that country foes can so easily communicate with each other. 10 years ago it was cool, but with the quality of player behavior deteriorating over the years it really has become a drag. Wish HTC would give us perma squelch. Or at least per tour so we can disable the really irritating players on a useful basis.
-
it would be nice if they just took away 200 period, sure you can not tune it in but just take the damn thing out of the game, i flew 1hr 20 mins last month... this month i havent flown, ive already changed my billing as to not renew on the next billing, just done with it.
-
i just wish this game didnt have the "W1nz T3h w4Rz w1th t3h h0rd3" mentality type. wheres the fun in stopping 30+ planes at a base by yourself? nobody wants to defend it because they know there just gonna get vulched on takeoff, or the VH will be raped by 10 guys at once because a single flak might roll out. i dont even want to start another online acc anymore because so many people are complaining about the game being like that. its a pure waste of my money if im stuck doing that.

Welcome to the real world...the RED PILL
Its full of idiots and a-holes...and some decent people...
And that will never change...on the street...or flying a cartoon game....
What made you think this abstract manifestation of life would be be anything but a mirror of real world human interaction?...seeing as its made of and by Humans...who are deeply flawed by nature.
I will never understand folks who think that natural human behavior...in all of its ugliness...is some how suspended at the entry gate of this game...
It is NOT...and never WILL BE

There is no game out there that does not have it's share of people who show who they really are behind the comfort of anonymity. The world is full of them, they surround you in your day to day activities but will not show themselves for what they are for fear of a black eye.
You, in here, can control the element. Mute them, ignore them, whatever, but only you can chose to be affected by their ignorance. It's a line of text, a post on a forum, a pm from a sad sack who got his ego bruised because you didn't play they game their way. It can't hurt you, unless you let it. It can't bother you, unless you let it.
Make this game, any game, or your life exactly what you want it to be by choosing what affects you and what doesn't. Maybe it's my getting old, but frankly, I personally don't care one bit about anything I don't actually care about :) If I'm not interested, it is of no consequence, not even worth the effort it takes to be annoyed, it is simply irrelevant.
Amazing how much more I enjoy life than I did when I was younger.

So basically the OP is saying that not enough people follow the Golden Rule, too many people take this game too seriously, and that too many people think they can their AH states, scores, kills, etc on their resume'? Or something close to that??? :D
If so.. I agree %100. :aok
-
This game's fine...
Whiners are the problem.
Lemme get this straight... You're encountering idiots in real life and on the game? Wow, lets look at the common denominator. Maybe its you.. Just sayin' unless maybe you're some sort of rocket scientist and everyone else really are idiots. Otherwise I'd suggest some self reflection.
:aok
-
Jacky, you like this game, you like the company that makes it, you like your squad and a few select few of people you choose to interact with.
So ignore everything else that's a "problem" and enjoy the GAME and the select few IN it.
You take off,you kill, you land, you logg out. everything else is "haha's or blah blah's".
Having fun and nothing else matters, period.
-
Oneway you hit that nail on the head.
-
Jackyl I seem to remember you having the same problem with a lot of Fighter Ace players, too.
I'd suggest you take these games far less personally.
I used to get frustrated at other players' behaviour years ago, but since I've been playing AH, little fazes me, and I think I can boil it down to a couple of reasons:
1) I couldn't care less about my score/stats.
2) Nothing that happens in this game matters one lick in real life.
3) Every time someone annoys me, I picture him sitting at his desk with J/S in hand, headphones/ball cap on, and an angry look on their face. It makes me smile and reminds me that we're all just a bunch of middle aged nerds pretending to be fighter pilots.
Some people go through life angry all the time. Based on our conversations in years' past, I don't think you're one of them. But, I do believe you take these games much too personally, and much too seriously. Remember how big a stink you made when one of my squaddies shot you in your chute a few years ago? I long since came to realize that it's pointless and counter-productive to attempt to apply a standard of conduct to other players, and even more so when you start to draw your own inferences based on those differences.
I hope you also come to that realization soon. It's a lot more fun this way.
-
In any and all online games, just have to take the good with the bad, always.
Hope you come back to the virtual skies eventually :salute

Aces High..best part of my day everyday!..didn't know we had a problem.

you will always run into IDIOTS in game and real life...hell I act like an IDIOT every so often..dont let the idiots in your life bother you or you might turn into an one yourself.
example 2 planes engage eachother nose on they both fire and collide the guy that gets killed PM's or screams on 200 nice HO you skilless turd! they both HO'ed yet the one that died is the one that is MAD.
they spend the next hour, day, month bashin eachother everychance they get.they both look like fools but in their respective social circles they may be fine people. it's the nature of the game to act macho and tough....like someone said earlier we are just nerds trying to be fighterpilots or tank commanders and escape lifes real drama's everychance we get....ummm gotta run my lil girl needs a feeding :salute

what's 200? :headscratch:
-
Whether you agree with DrJacky or not, one simple fact remains: the attitude and comments of some players is causing many old timers to leave. It doesn't matter if the people leaving are right, or wrong; the game is diminished without them.
The point is, how long can the loss of good players, the teachers, the Squadron leaders, the "old heads" continue before the game ceases to exist?
Some post their dissatisfaction with the gameplay in here before they leave. Many do not. I for one have seen a lot of players quit for the reasons Jacky mentioned. It's really rather sad.

Agreed!!!
I was talking with another player about a fight we had. It was a fun 1 vs 1 until a pony jumped in and finally picked me, then he saluted me  The first guy apologized about not calling off the pony. Normally he would have, but is to the point that he just doesn't give a rats arnold any more. The same goes for me. I will dodge the first half dozen HOs but after that I just say screw it, whats the point. If you can't beat them, join them. The problem is we are ALL joining the cesspool. Soon we will have only those who will stoop to joining the cesspool and the rest will leave.
That sounds like a great marketing tool.... "Come join the cesspool that was once Aces High!"

We have to ability to mute........ :salute

I saw a conversation on 200 night before last that infuriated me to no end, two guys were having a discussion,a rather heated one at that. One of them said " I am 17 years old and have a 44 mag and will drop you where you are." why and where does this matter in the world of AH? People are taking this game WAY to serious. I enjoy watching 200 the smack talkin is great, but when it gets to that point it is a little stupid. I doubt that there are many people in here who have the funds to be able to take an argument here to real life, so why say stupid things like that? It just makes the older guys laugh at you. I got angry for the simple fact that comments like I quoted said anywhere, at any time, in any reference, are negative to the gun community. Also what happens when a new guy comes into the MA for the first time, and sees that kind of thing? What if a younger individual, has gotten his parents to pay for the game, and one of them is watching over their shoulder, and see something like that said. Threats of that level, are bad for everything, they are stupid, and can be taken way out of context. We should all watch what is said on 200 since it is tuned auto. If you have a beef with someone, take it to a PM or another channel.
-
I think people are leaving cause they can't afford it, or wife ack. But that may reflect negatively on their cool social status here on AH boards so they blame it on others...
Freaking cry babies do nothing... Want stuff to change lead by example.
Stop whining

I can drop that .44 magnum weasel with a slingshot.

We have the ability to mute and report ..........
-
you know the real problem in this cartoon game is people letting other people dictate how they should play this game.people kill the the planes orthe gv's I've already shot up and they get the kill,I don't care there r more targets to shoot at.<-----example....to me--there is no real reason to quit this game---except for rl problems or no paycheck or no internet
Just my thoughts only.

oh yes that's it, you found me out. yep i like watching the tools spam 200 battling back and forth on it about who's more elite. yep that's it i'm busted, here's an idea PM the guy about who's better then spamming 200 with it, but then i guess all the others minions can't jump in on the i'm better than you fight now could they. im sure thats what Hitech had in mind instead of friendly cross country chat with friends. :salute

One other thing that goes along with this thread that I should have mentioned earlier. There are a substantial number of people who are more than willing to give someone the final shove out the door by calling them whiners, crybabies, etc. when they say good bye in the forums.
Perhaps you have "Low T" or some other medical, or self esteem problem that we are not aware of. If so, please keep it to yourself, or get treatment. That you can pretend to be the person with the largest set of stones getting in the last word by cyber bullying another is, well, juvenile.

I wonder if Jacky knew about the mute and report abilities that we have in real life, would that have kept him from moving to so many different states? :headscratch:

From my experience with you in the MA it seems your leaving is rather ironic as you even mentioned hypocritical. Had I stopped reading sooner I would've thought this was an autobiography.
I take it your enemies refused to make your killing of them easy enough for you, or for a change they had the altitude advantage!? No no, let me guess, you dished out something on 200 and they gave back as good as you gave out. And, now your leaving and taking your ball with you?!
Where's your determination to shoot down those that are as you described, what are you spineless? You wont be missed by the majority of us, any halfwit can type .squelch name or even ignore text, 200 has to be tuned to. Not to mention there is a hanger full of payback awaiting your usage.
I'm sure it won't be long before your using a shade name and flying around in the MAs.
After all this is AcesHigh, they always come back it's just a matter of time.

So....did we lose the most noble player or...another whining runt? Hmmm??

Well I've thought this for quite a while now, maybe do away with 200. Only allow a <S> to pass cross country. I have heard the common responses to this such as "just detune 200", or "ignore them", "squelch them" and so forth and so on. Another common reply is so " people can converse cross country". Huh....? While it may, and is sometime used to communicate with folks on the other sides, anymore it seems it's simply a way to insult or even threaten others. I doubt this was the intent of HTC. IF 200 isn't being used to insult, incite, threaten, belittle or berate others, then it's being used as a discussion board for political issues, religious dogma, and what have ya'. Is keeping 200 alive really worth having all this drama? Are the few legitimate discussions between cross country members really worth losing a veteran player or anyone for that matter (if this is truly happening) to keep 200? Couldn't a PM serve the same purpose? I mean it seems as if the only reason someone comments on 200 is to elicit a reaction from the other countries at the expense of the targeted player. Almost as if the posting player couldn't care less about the response of his "target" but more so the reaction of anyone/everyone else. Again, if the "poster" wanted to really find out what the other persons "problem" really was, seems like a PM would be the way to go, instead of trying to embarrass them on 200. just my 0.02's worth.

I agree Nutz. We don't need Channel 200. In fact, it's main use ingame is to flamebait, etc & violate all the rules that we have to abide by in here on the forum. this still leaves the PM for those who must rant.
-
So how come everyone who thinks 200 shouldn't be there just tune to a different channel.
I don't get it, how can someone seriously advocate changing the game for everyone because they're butthurt about something someone typed.. :bhead
Where's that butthurt report form I saw a couple threads back. lol
-
I believe this is why the "All" players channel was deleted in the MA. Too much BS and too little legitimate uses. :salute
-
Nutz post holds no more water then my house slippers. Who's he or anyone else to deside what a legimate conversation is? Although what he says can be true, the fact is,200 provides as much entertainment to the majority of the players as the game itself. We've all had tons of laughs, made some good fights and even some friends from watching 200. My guess 200 has caused more folks to stay then it has caused to run off.
It'll be a cold day in hell before someone causes me to quit because I was insulted on a public channel in a video game. :lol You kidding me? Half the people I know in this game are from some fight or comment made on 200. You get to know and learn things from 200. Not all bad. I started taking a serious interest in ACM just because of guys like SkyRock, Lynx and Shawk. Watching conversations with TwinBoom, Delirum and the guys from the 80th.
Not everyone is a butthead and as a free American i want the choice to tune in or tune out. Give me liberty or give me death! Patrick Henry
Hell, who wouldn't want to brag about getting a Bruv, Grizz or vDallas on public channel. :rofl Sorry to have put dallas in there ...........
It's like pay for view fat chick wrestling. It's friggen awesome man!

Still on me whether I get caught up in the 200 stuff. Generally I enjoy it for being able to BS with folks I enjoy seeing in the arena. If it's getting under your skin that much, best thing to do is to detune it. And if it's got you to the point you are 'leaving the game', I'd strongly suggest that there are other reasons behind your leaving. Sometimes folks just need time away.

Well I've thought this for quite a while now, maybe do away with 200.
Without meaning to offend you, this is dumb. Do away with 200, people will tune to 201. Many of us enjoy speaking to those on the other side. Removing Channel One - as it appears was necessary in the late war arenas - means you don't have to participate unless you want to.

Gentlemen
Let me say what I should have said earlier. IMO channel 200 is more of an "open mic" for any idiot that wants to misuse it. Political, religious arguments, name calling, racial comments, threats and other abuses have all been used here from time to time. Here's the point I'm trying to make. With a vehicle such as this it has been and will continue to be abused by a few idiots. De tune 200, sure I do most of the time. But what about the scenario of the young player who just logs on for the first few times and sees what's being typed there. It could have a negative impact.
And oldman, it's not dumb. First of all, I don't know if tuning to 201 will allow one to talk cross country or not. Maybe it will, I don't know. But your missing the point. The point is, maybe it's time to limit cross country chatter to just PM's. Most who seem to have some problem with 200 is the fact that the player on the receiving end of another's tongue lashing maybe humiliated by having it displayed for all to see. IDK, just making a guess here.
One other thing oldman, isn't most of your time spent in the AvA arena? No wonder you like talking cross country. You can have a chat with the other five people in there. :t
There's a lot of talk about a lack of honor when flying because of a certain style of flying or what have you, but many times the same people screaming about a lack of honor, are some of the same people typing trash on 200. Go figure?

Yes, it will. :old:

The likelyhood of a new player even knowing about 200 is remote. 200 isn't a default channel. If he sees it he tuned to it.

If I read this right your saying your squad was full of great folks and everyone else was pitiful.
If that is the case maybe you need to look in not out. You may be missing the actual problem.
I'm 52 and have lived in every state in the US except Alaska and Hawaii. I've lived in Canada, Mexico, and South America. I've seen all types of folks and many cultures. This game is just a mix of all that and then some. There are good and bad amongst the Ah Community.
I'm thinking you've just had a bad run for a bit. Don't let it get you down. If you were to stay, I'd suggest trying to approach the game with a new fresh view. Maybe try some different planes of GVs.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. <S>
