Fail on the quote to the pic.

FAA's mission statement: "Were not happy until your not happy".
-
Well he's human so it doesn't come as a big shock.
-
Beyond everybody is running with it too....
FAA OPENS BARR
The FAA announced Friday that it will no longer require operators to provide a valid security concern -- or any other requirement -- to participate in a program that prevents some flight information from being displayed online.

I don't see why this is a big deal. Just another guy who got a DUI. Who cares who he is it's not like he was drunk while flying a plane or while manning an ATC position.

Well, pilots are probably thinking along the lines of the fecal storm your flying career runs into if you get an automobile DUI conviction.

I should have been more clear. I guess what I mean is that he should simply be taken out of his office and his flight status taken away. Of course it will go into this BS multi-month long story which will finally culminate in him being fired.
-
I don't know who I would turn my "flight status" into.
-
He resigned today.

Give it to me, they won't renew my medical.

Quoted for truth.

HE resigned. You might say that he is human and he makes mistakes, yes he is and yes he does and will. HOWEVER ask ANY person who works for the FAA/Or any agreements with the agency... any ALCOHOL related charges will get you fired and never rehired/loose licenses/certifications/ect....he should be held to that same standard. Period.

I'm pretty sure he was, he just resigned before they had time to fire him.

First, a single DUI won't tank your career. Part of that reason is due to Babbit and some of the programs he supported which are good steps.
There's lots of science and research out there on the subject but to say the Gestapo is going to come yank your certificates is a bit much. Your employers may not legally be able to fire you if you enter a rehab program as well. Each situation is different but suffice to say I'm supremely disappointed in someone who said he wished he could legislate professionalism and professionalism involves holding yourself to that standard at all times even when no one is watching. Enormously hypocritical of him and selfish to boot for endangering the lives of those on the road. That's the irony in it for me, the man who stands on a soapbox of professionalism gets nicked being a moron.
What I do fear is the reactionary idiocy coming from his replacement.

It's a big deal because the FAA hasn't been funded for a couple of years now, and many critical aviation infrastructure projects are barely limping along on continuing resolutions. Some of the reasons are really stupid... According to aviation week, during the last congressional session the FAA authorization was held up over a single airline's fight with it's employee union. That's billions of dollars targeted at national resources held up over a civil labor dispute between a few thousand people and yet another struggling airline.
Not that the labor issues don't need national attention, but my point is that seemingly small and isolated incidents have held up the FAA budget for a couple of years now, and this could hold it up for another session. DUI is stupidly selfish in any situation, but it's orders of magnitude worse when you lead an agency waiting for millions of dollars in funding that has already been held up over trivia.

probably *why* he was drinking... :noid
