Title: Show us your INK
Post by: dirtdart on December 09, 2011, 04:02:26 PM
Hey, I thought a fun thread would be to show some pics of a tattoo of yours and the story behind it.

My first duty assignment was the A/1-325 Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division.  We had a joke that if your chute did not open, you were nothing more than a dirtdart...  I have since that time nearly 20 years ago, gone on to become a Jumpmaster and Master Parachutist.

I got a tattoo, thanks to my Dad having an identity crisis.  He worked for thirty years for a government agency and was exposed to some pretty interesting things.  When he retired in Northern Virgina, he just became random retired former government guy.  While pumping gas one day he had some kid cut him off and dismiss him.  He said the first thing that went through his head (before he went after him) was, "doesn't this guy know who I am".  Then it dawned on him that yup, he was now old guy #34 in NOVA, not a uniform or suit wearing esteemed member of his community.

So, my solution to his ordeal and to prevent my own, was to get a tattoo.  I figure that when, in a few years, I walk down the dock to my 40 foot boat, some smarta$ kid will say..."look at that old man", he then sees the wings, pauses, and then maybe says..."that guy did something interesting in his life".  Whats your story?

  Whats your story?

I have none.
No story,
No interesting life.
Ah, and yes: No ink.

That's all. Carry on  :old:

Here is the 1st one I ever got.. while I was stationed in Millington Tn for school 6 of us went out and got the same tattoo ..

Nothing special just wanted to show my pride...

This is my second one I got.. I think it is self explanatory. I got it on the 5th anniversary of 9/11

It is not finished but I was thinking the next time I go up to NH I would stop in and see INK and have him finish it.

I got my kids's name on my right shoulder and below an angel.  on my right I have this girl's name ceci who refused to go out with me because of my attitude.  I decided that no other girl was gonna ever tell me that so I tattood her name as a reminder, no girl has since then.  thinking of getting another one done, but unsure of what to get as I am a little undecided.

As soon as I am working, I plan to get half sleeves on both arms: One as a tribute to my father, and the other, I haven't decided but I am thinking about getting an old war bond poster as tribute to my grandfather, other families members, and the whole generation who fought in WWII.  I plan to get my current tattoo covered up, which INK was suppose to help me with but guess he was too busy  :old:

Years ago a hena Maori war band on my bicep. In college I played on a top-10 nationally ranked rugby team with a bunch of Polynesians from throughout the Pacific rim and some Kiwis ta boot. Learned the Haku war dance. Got the Hena, gone in a few months. Never got a real one. No pics, just a story.

Me and my Poly homies. French-Canadians, different. Scotsmen were a hoot, Australians and South Afrikaners were cool. Limeys, too much tea. Haha

That is the symbol from Hipocrates, it is a dagger, point down with 2 serpents curling around it with their heads ending up toward each other at the top of the hilt.  It is the symbol the American Medical Association adopted and is the symbol doctors worldwide still use on their "shingle".  The Hipocratic oath originated with Hipocrates also and is "Above all, do no harm".  If only that were still true.

That is kinda the motto of my life.. Thanks for clearing up caduceus for me, never heard that word before.  :)

By the way, noticed your location is HELL. My location is close to Hell also, in Norway that is. We have a place here that is actually called Hell. ;)

Both have historical significance related to my genealogy. Our entire genealogy, of which I have a copy of that has been kept in the family for generations ,is well documented dating back to Scotland in 1497 primarily on my mothers side.

Long story short...see photos.

My artist, Jason, has 19 years experience and was mentored by the Legendary Tattooer Jack Rudy...thus the outstanding detail in his work.
