Hey, I thought a fun thread would be to show some pics of a tattoo of yours and the story behind it.
My first duty assignment was the A/1-325 Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division. We had a joke that if your chute did not open, you were nothing more than a
dirtdart... I have since that time nearly 20 years ago, gone on to become a Jumpmaster and Master Parachutist.
I got a tattoo, thanks to my Dad having an identity crisis. He worked for thirty years for a government agency and was exposed to some pretty interesting things. When he retired in Northern Virgina, he just became random retired former government guy. While pumping gas one day he had some kid cut him off and dismiss him. He said the first thing that went through his head (before he went after him) was, "doesn't this guy know who I am". Then it dawned on him that yup, he was now old guy #34 in NOVA, not a uniform or suit wearing esteemed member of his community.
So, my solution to his ordeal and to prevent my own, was to get a tattoo. I figure that when, in a few years, I walk down the dock to my 40 foot boat, some smarta$ kid will say..."look at that old man", he then sees the wings, pauses, and then maybe says..."that guy did something interesting in his life". Whats your story?
